I also but i tryed following the stupid no show socks trend and for my feet it was the most uncortable period ever.
i think if you get the right type of no show and wear them when it’s hot it’s great, or just for around the house
I play in Nike elite socks only now because whenever I would play in normal Nike socks I would feel a lot of discomfort and foot pain after, but with Nike elite socks I wouldn’t feel any discomfort while playing or foot pain after
Anke socks from Puma are one of the best. I've never matches my kicks with socks because some of Air jordan did not blend well with Nike comfort socks
I bought lots of socks once new priced at a discount on sale in Value Village. They were actually new and never had been opened or used though clothing there often is. Found the crew socks very comfortable to wear yet ankle socks I don’t like as they never stay on and kept slipping. Also the feeling of my ankle half covered I never got used to
I wear 3/4 length a lot but my go to is the crew length for protection against impact or scrapes against my skin and I also have a plate and screws in my ankle so that padding is good against bumps or hits.
So only reason for a crew sock is for sweat management?
I wonder if there is a rule of thumb for how often one needs to replace old tennis socks? Of course... before they start to have holes and stuff

Interesting to hear, I've been wearing mid-socks since crew socks just felt like more work and harder to put on, though I also haven't tried crew socks that actually are for my feet size which might be a contributing factor. How important is making sure the socks you buy are listed as actually fitting?

For basketball I have always been using Nike Elites. Never tried anything else, they worked good for me 10 years ago when I bought my first pair and still buying them.
I tried bombas, they felt too slick in my shoes and would twist on my foot a lot. They were the running style though. I have stance medium cushioning athletic socks now which are working for me. I found that no dryer when washing my socks now was really important. Keeps them in good shape
Hang dry all your Sox and underwear. Especially if they use moisture wicking technology
I always wear crewocks. Maybe sometimes in the summer no-show socks but when it comes to sports always crewsocks.

I like crews, but even the bombas have trouble staying up on my calves/knankles. Going to try some ankle ones next but not sure how I feel about that height. I do like the freer feeling of the no shows, but some shoes I have don't work well with them.

I prefer ankle/no shows for everything except formal events and snow sports. The last few years I’ve worn Bombas ankle tennis socks for tennis, basketball and the gym. I wear lows 95% for those activities and the tennis socks work great.

Most socks are too stinking narrow and too tight. Just like the problem with the vast majority of shoes from the biggest brands, the toe profile ruins feet over time with smashed toe box and lifted heel stack, and zero connection to feeling the ground.

gold toe quarters seem to work best for me. I don't like wool socks itchy at not as breathable as cotton.

I only wear Basketball crew socks or Nike Elite NBA Grip mids. ...I've had heel issues with a certain shoe I probably should stop playing in but the sock I was wearing got wet and slippery causing painful big blisters which forced me to cut my basketball workout short by about 20-30min..The Sock I was wearing was thew Point 3 Impact crew mid. I was fine until they got all soaked up..My workouts go 2 hrs but this time I had to stop as I was getting hobbled. What sock works best for heel rubbing or what sock has the best heel and achilles padding...that's what I need for the heavy barefoot feeling Harden 5 hoop shoes I'm wearing for outdoor rn...also sized too snug for me (9.5 instead of my normal 10.5 - narrow skinny foot) . I was thinking either get some good tennis socks but I don't know much about what socks are ideal for my situation.

To me, still the best sock going for about anything you want is Darn Tough in Vermont. Bombas socks just don't compare, especially with the warranty.
I've had good luck with Feetures Max Cushion sock for tennis. The extra padding, fit, and durability are great.

I only wear crew socks 🧦 in my collection, never was a fan of low, quarter, no show, ped socks.
Fashion: crew (generally with some design on them), function: ankle / quarter (I like the wind at on my legs most of the time)

I'm not clear on what the difference is between @bombas2726 tennis-specific socks and all the fun looking ones. I'd much rather use socks with Cookie Monster on them if I have the choice without sacrificing the practical aspects of the sock for tennis.
For the ankle socks, the tops are different. The tennis and running ankle socks have an extra tab on the front of the ankle, and the back tab is flat rather than rolled. I pretty much only wear Bombas socks, and prefer the tennis/running vs others as they are better at not shifting around on my foot.

Started to wear crew to protect my ankles... I play tennis and the those outriggers on the soles have cause me more then once kick and scrap they ankle and lower leg. I'm talking bad enough to draw blood.

I like long and short socks both. Long ones i wear for fall and winter and short ones i wear for spring and summer.

I won't wear crew socks 1) they might not stay up well if you have thick calves 2) my legs are short and I don't want them to look even shorter 3) I don't want a tan line from the socks on that part of my legs

Incorrect on the aerodynamics of no-show versus crew socks. Crew socks are not less aerodynamic. You should go read about cyclists as they understand aero and socks
I might buy the sweat absorption claim, but aerodynamics and running socks is just silly.
