- It’s no secret that the fishing has been slow lately, but this morning, Oil Platform Emmy provided some much needed action. Light wind, small surf, blue skies and finally… some fish!

Great job. That a hell of a paddle....
That looked like a great fishing day, Dan. I thought you were going to keep a couple of those Bass and the Sculpin, it's nice having a good structure like that oil rig. La Jolla has been really slow and the rock fish small. Water was 58-59 degrees yesterday and that marine layer is already annoying and yet we're just getting into that time of year were it's going to hang around for a few more months. Tight Lines!
Nicely done!!!
Nice sculpin! It's a chunk!
Great work out there!
Nicely done.
Awesome video Dan!
I bet your DTX minnow would slay it out in Texas. You make really good videos Dan.
Perfect for my commute back from Cincinnati. Day dreaming about stealth mods
Dan the man😎
Nice fishing Dan and your editing skills make your videos top-notch.
Good to see you pulling some fish up 👍. The bite down here has been DOA on my last 3 outings. Surface water temps are still in the low 50s. Sun has got to pop out... eventually 🤞.
Hey Keath… no doubt! The water is unusually cold for this time of year! Hopefully we will see some improvement during May!🎣😃
The bite is definitely picking up now. Maybe 1 more month until it gets crazy again.
It's rare that the Nomad gets zippo. But, the hookup baits are also great go-to baits. Nice fish.
Good to see some calm conditions out there, w/a little scare at the end. I would a sank like a rock! That was a "hog" Scorpionfish, too!
Dan, are there ever any staff on the oil rigs, or maybe only for maintenance? Take care & catch ya next time.
Hi Gabe… most of the time, I never see anyone on the rig. I’m sure for environmental and safety rules there probably has to be at least one person 24/7, but I never see much activity. Also, I’ve never had anyone (rig personnel, OC Sheriffs, etc..) ask me move away from the rig.🎣😃
@@losthorizonfishing107 On the video there was a person on a platform over your left shoulder at one point.
Ur a bada$$ fisherman! I bought a pro angler off you yrs ago dude!
I remember you. I hope you are enjoying that PA14!🎣😃
Awesome videos! I was already dead set on going pedal drive so I can go offshore(I currently use an inflatable within the harbors).
I somehow came across your video and another guy in New Zealand. Something about paddling long distances and fishing seems so appealing. Also the ability to get great fish at those distances is definitely a reason for wanting to travel the long distances.
Anyways, now I’m looking at the Stealth fusion 480 😅. I don’t have much kayak experience, do you think the fusion can hold up to SoCal oceans? I’m in Santa Monica but I want to be able to launch of any coast and get to know new beaches. Making my way down till I reach San Diego and get those yellow tails when summer rolls around
The Fusion 480 is a perfect choice for Southern California. They are made with Roto-molded plastic and they are definitely more durable than Stealth’s fiberglass or carbon fiber models. The best thing about the Fusion 480 is that they have exactly the same features as the more expensive models at half the price. At just under 16 feet long, the Fusion 480 has plenty of waterline to operate safely in open ocean.
Here’s a couple of guys from Instagram that fish out of the Fusion 480:

This guy has done 30 mile days in his Fusion 480.

Michael uses his Fusion 480 to fish from La Jolla and the way up spots on the Central Coast.

Moo fishes his Fusion 480 in the Northern California where water and air temperatures are brutal during wintertime.
@@losthorizonfishing107 I have to say, your videos heavily influenced my choice in the Fusion 480. Now I just need to hear back from stealth so that I can have mine come in by spring 😃.
Loving the videos. I like that you put the tackle you’re using. Maybe one of these days I’ll catch you out by the water. 🎣 🌊
There’s a Northern California Stealth Sales Representative. It is possible that he may have a Fusion 480 in stock. His name is Ruben Ledesma.

subbed at 2k! you'll blow up!
I wonder where that launch to the oil rig is?
The easiest access is a beach launch at Bolsa Chica State Beach or the City Beach Parking Lots located between SeaPoint and Goldenwest (Dog Beach).🎣😃
Huntington Beach, South Carolina?
.sorry for the late response. It’s actually Huntington Beach in Southern California.😃🎣
