    General info if you go for an extended warranty. That 4-6 year warranty starts 'right now', so it's worthless during the factory warranty. You can still get it, but right before the original runs out. By then, you should know if you need it.
    Of course, the finance person pushes to sign it NOW, because they know that you may realize that you don't need it.

    Riverside Harley (CA) was pressing me hard to sign for a $45k contract + $5k down + my 2020 sportster for 23 fast Johnnie. When I refused and explained why(cause it’s a ripoff) their sales manager came out of nowhere very aggressive, rude, and just an asshole, telling me I can refinance blah blah blah. I bought a Suzuki gsx8r last Saturday, straight up sale $200 under msrp.

    The Indian FTR is a great sport bike. It's close to the HD's Sportster S in spec, but looks very different. Base model starts around $13,499 and go as high as $18,999 with various models in between. The rest of their lineup is all cruisers, baggers and touring models, not unlike HD. It should be fairly easy to find used FTR's out there.

    My first bike was a 2003 883 Sportster 100th Anniversary Edition. Bought it new when I was 20, wish I’d kept it. Not particularly quick by any means nor the greatest handler, but she was gorgeous (at least I thought so) and a lot of fun to run around some two-lane backroads on.

    I was looking for a commuter bike for fairly cheap , lots of riding but all dirt , so I love the looks of some Harley’s buddy tried so hard to get me to buy one (he rides one ) I watched so many you tube videos and I wasn’t wanting to be 10k actually 12 by the time California rips you off. , so I went to a local bike shop who sales all types of bikes I settled on a 2024 Kawasaki eliminator 500 , only because it was what I needed for the job , the salesman only said one time you could put grow it , I said probably but it’s only 90 percent for going to and from work 14 miles round trip . Never did he ever say or try to up sale me , in fact they tried getting me for 7k on the price I showed the guy the exact bike on their website for sale for 51/2 k he looked at my phone and told me shit that’s a crazy price and wrote me up and I got a 500 rebate directly from Kawasaki , I love this bike it has plenty of power and is great to throw around weighs nothing 389lbs wet , I don’t believe I will ever buy from a Harley dealer I might buy a Harley at some point but it will be in dealer tgat isn’t just pushing Harley’s

    I like the early XR's flat track body work (tank /tail & solo seat, the low sculpted tank does not have that top heavy looking sportster wannabe chopper look to it as opposed to the 1970's era flat track genetics of XR tank and tail ) So that early cosmetic design adapted to the modern chassis, suspension and evo or later engine design which are light years better than any 70's built shovel based HD AMF junk would be the sportster i would own. Harley seems to be under some delusion that their ride for the brand people will love or buy whatever they put out just because its a Harley. i liked the sportster 48 look a few years ago, with larger tires, maybe a springer forks, but that stoopid buckaroo sportster tank ruins the appeal of the design. I am old now, being raised on knuckleheads and Panheads and flatheads back in the day. even the 1957 sportster was far better looking standard bike that what it was to become, back when they were both affordable workable and good looking 1936-1965. All the AMF year harleys are what choppers should have been made from, i used to cringe when i saw a knucklehead or pan head chopped and butchered, a 1965-1983 bowling ball, not so much.

    YES this is very wide spread!! Pretty sure this is Harley's business model, if not then why do so many dealerships have all these 23 models with 8 to 12k off?? And still not back to MSRP. If you look around some of the 24s are cheaper that the 23s, same model!!

    I went to a dealership last week to look at a 2017 883. A bike that should book for about 6500$ retail , after all the other added BS they are trying to sell me that bike for twelve grand with their financing. Uh nope. So i told them id just save up a couple more grand and shoot them a cash offer in a few weeks if they still had the bike, boy they didnt like that AT all. Im like well i about have enough saved up to just pay cash so, why even mess with all that other financing bs, along with a 995$ assembly fee they are trying to tack on to a used bike lol.

    You sir are wrong. The Pan Am is the fastest bike Harley had ever made. And is more a sport bike than anything they have ever made. But you are right about the dealers scamming everyone. The sales people make commission on the markup in most cases. That doesn’t happen at other brand dealers. And that will continue until people stop buying them.

    • @m0t0rnews26
      @m0t0rnews26  Місяць тому +1

      Not really, though I see your point. The Pan Am is not meant to be sporty, though it is extremely fast. My point was that the XR1200 was actually designed to compete with sport bikes a dozen years ago. Now, if H-D listened to potential buyers and actually made a performance-focused Pan Am, I would pay attention. I rode one and liked it, but its geometry is too tall to truly be sporty, IMO.

    • @billbiker
      @billbiker Місяць тому

      @@m0t0rnews26 yeah the position isn’t great very sporty. It’s meant as a do it all. The one that dominated the super hooligan race this year were modified a bit.But I got to ride this bike and I have a Pan Am and the Pan Am is way faster. I’m out riding with 600 sport bikes no problem. I wish Harley would focus on the future because that rev max engine is capable of so much more. It’s like they are afraid of being fast. The bike you tried to get showed up at my local dealer and they had people calling about it from all over. They could do to the Pan Am what Suzuki did to the GSX8s who released the RS and it would be a track bike no problem. The other thing keeping Harley back is the dealerships. The markup is crazy and they always try to hide it with a low note. I recently bought a Suzuki 8R with no hassle no hidden markup.
