Another brilliant video Rob; thank you! I ordered Cloud Spire (to add to my CTG collection yesterday) thanks to your great, and informative, play through!
Awesome to see you doing videos for the new factions and updates. I really liked the idea of CS, but it was so overwhelming; but now that I'm into it fully, I'm literally blown away. Your description of calling it a "puzzle" is spot on. Every time I play it I appreciate it more, and the work that everyone at CTG did on the game, and on the scenarios (I think Shannon was the lead on that?). Unreal game, very close to displacing Too Many Bones as my favourite.
Hey Rob, I just got my Cloudspire a couple of months ago, and just broke it out today. I’m so happy you made this stream!!! Thanks for all you and Mel do.
Took me 4 sessions to watch all of this. Great stuff and just what I was looking for. Enjoyed the rules discussions too. Don't have a copy yet but do have it on pre-order from CTG.
I’m not sure why the Fortress spires discussion at around 2:50:00 came from, but the first sentence in the rules sums it all up: the fortress spires work like any other spire on islets. The front gate and the fortress source wells are each their own hex. The fortress is not considered a single hex. Do not mix up the fortress retaliating when the front gate is attacked and spires on the fortress source wells firing like any other spire on any other islet’s hex. Rob you’re 120% correct. The spire with no range upgrade can only fire on the front gate (where no units can be) or the adjacent hex north-east of it. And Rob: I myself thought the chat was constantly pointing to that Shannon post on BGG to prove that spires on the Fortress source wells counted range from the front gate 😅
Thanks for this! Just ran through the first two waves 2-handed solo in the PvP rules to learn, then kicked over to this scenario to learn the solo/co-op. Watching a lot of videos along the way 😄
At 1:06 you say they changed the tile. I actually noticed this and emailed support. They just removed the bush in the manual, not on the actual neoprene. Support said they just changed the graphic to make it easier to identify, BUT the neoprene 2.0 is still a plain (with a little bush in the middle).
Thanks again, Rob! I’m struggling hard with The Uprising Solo scenarios. Really looking forward to your approach(es)! Thematically and mechanically I’m loving them, but their scenarios seem to be so hard (or I cannot play them properly yet).
Brilliant content. Have just picked it up second hand. 1st edition with the upgrade pack and portal seekers so this was exactly what I needed. Getting it on the table right now. Let’s see how many rules I get wrong. 😂 Cheers
4:18:08 landmarks are obstacles and usually you don’t count movement through them even if they are on a terrain type a unit can move through UNLESS a talent (like Rifwalk) says they count as path and units can move onto them. So your Aegis might have moved through that portal (actually must have since moving around the water and mountain hex would end their movement farther from the mark.
1:12 not sure about AI, but for players spire upgrades can go in any order, but can not be changed after you decide. The scenarios may state they go in order shown top to bottom though.
At around 3:10:00 when you undo attacking the Fortress Gate to instead attack the Spire, you reduced the damage done to the gate by one, (9hp instead of 8hp) but as the tower wouldn't retaliate as your minion wasn't in range and the gate wouldn't as your minion did attack but not the gate(gate only retaliates on units that hit it or nothing), the minion wouldn't have been damaged and thus would have attacked a 3rd time and the gate hp should still be 8. The attack on the spire was effectively free.
Hi Rob just bought Cloudspire and you tought mea lot! I watch all your video with attention and I really thank you! One question, at 4:12:27 when Taproot summoned, the vinherald shoudnt be on his PROMOTE side? This would gave him a 4 helath not 3 and the math of the battle would have been very different! I seen nobody said nothing so M i saying something wrong? :D Tnx!
Shouldn't Awsh have gained health from survival for the several rounds he sat by the gate not moving or attacking while the aegis moved past him and attacked the towers? It happens around 4:16:30 onwards. Or does campfire mode interfere with that?
@@RobsGamingTable Thanks for the reply. I don't have the game and never seen it played so I don't know the rules. Looks fun, but the complexity seems pretty high for me. I'll just settle with watching you and others play it on my behalf for now. 😅
This is amazing content. One thing I wonder is if there is usually one way to solve the scenarios best or if it actually allows for experimentation? It would suck if all the AP is for nothing because it comes down to trial and error. What are your thoughts on this?
Pro-Tip: When a reference book is alphabetical, a Table of Contents isn’t really necessary, unless you’re expecting a page at the front that lists…the alphabet.
I never felt that MK was oberly complex. Okay there are many rules. But I have never had any trouble introducing people to the game. And even casual gamers liked it. If you want a game where even the most basic rules explanation takes at least 1.5h and you have not even introduced people to the whole game afterwards and where you should have at least one friendly open game so everybody can follow everybody’s decisions, then you should get High Frontier

Congratulations! Have fun diving deep into that rabbit hole! 😁

@2:11:21 Engage is still engage (force Attack) and foreboding simply means you must reveal the hidden landmark

Oh man I can't wait to watch. I just got my order of Cloudspire from back in December last week. It's in the queue!

1:34 I believe they changed the market loading a bit in 2.0.
Rob, you’re not alone on the missing AI talent sheet and or the tables in the scenarios. They were great… :(
I can't fathom why they removed a feature like that. It was great having the relevant ones trimmed down.

I believe inactive units can't use talents, but I don't have the latest rules reference handy.

the locations is always random and the event die is random. It's unlikely you'd see the exact same scenario play out.
How can you build your first spire when you don't have influence on that tile.
The one the architect built? Architects don't need influence to build a spire.

Hahaha "pro" tip. 🤣
