That yellow thing in the background is a Geiger Counter bitcrusher/waveshaper/distortion pedal and I can't wait to actually use it on a project where that crazy sound makes sense.

I'm a (self-taught amateur) composer for my own tabletop rpg campaign (though I run Pathfinder, not D&D), and I particularly have experience with working with the kinda stuff that fits the vibe of what you're talking about, with harpsichords and pipe organs and guitars (although I work with soundfonts) so I might be able to help with this!

There's a dark fantasy game called "Fear & Hunger" and it is insane
I think that would be cool, if you make a soundtrack in doom style for that game
I know it's lazy, but since it's Castlevania, why not just strip the song down to the synth organ, give it an 8 bit effect, and remix the song? That would be my attempt, but i have no musical equipment to make it sound good. If anyone wants to use that idea, be my guest. Possibly even mix in previous Castlevania sound effects like Dracula's voice.
Check out Game Metal’s covers of those kinds of songs, it picks up on this kind of vibe. Love that channel.

Im mo musician but the synth didn't really mix well but again not a musician but if I would add a instrument maybe more akin to the violin.
I might be mistaking the synth for a piano organ or something similar.
The synth really wasn't terrible but if you're going for a Castlevania vibe maybe going a bit more on the time it takes place in.
I know that's sounds like a no brainer but if for example you have a show based on the 1800s maybe having Alot of natural hand captured sound samples like the wind blowing gushing past a field of trees so you can hear clearly the leaves rustle with each other or another is just look at what people do with relaxing rain videos for sleeping or etc.
What's the setting and what can they do to enhance the sound to sound more authentic to the actual sound file.
If your rain sample is hitting a tin roof over the camera outside it would be obvious as ever if the setting your creating or drawing is in a the middle of a rainforest with the pov showing nothing but natural landscapes with no buildings in sight.

But also you get to be on the soundtrack which is a portfolio credit. I'll mention that the contest was my idea, not QuasiReal's. I asked them because I thought it would be fun to open something to the community and give people a chance to show off. Feedback like this is good cause it makes me think I set it up with too much work vs too little reward, yeah?
