Listen to their sounds & the kinds of parts each instrument plays. Consider the physical aspect - how each is played. Choose what speaks to you. There is no wrong answer.
I feel like if your a beginner, flute is going to sound the worst however after a while of getting better the flute probably would sound better.when I was in 6th grade they sounded like a clarinet where your blowing in it just enough to where you can hear it but a note doesn’t come out and all you can hear is air. It was like that for all of sixth grade and the majority of 7th.
@@aemckennon yeah there was ofc clarinets trumpets saxophones and percussions/xylophone however they didn’t sound as bad not that the flute were doing anything wrong. In fact my sister has a flue(she 8 years older than me) and gave it up about 3 years earlier after she quit high school and I’m going to practice myself. In my opinion they weren’t doing anything wrong and they were still good it’s just the instrument that’s hard to adapt to. As I’ve heard some people say “every instrument is easy to learn, but hard to master”. Which in my opinion flute is hard for both cause I don’t have the right shape with my lips and it just doesn’t sound right and if it isn’t you won’t be able to play it unless you work on that shape. Everyone else in the bands instrument the notes were very prominent even the percussions however the flute just wasn’t. Flutes weren’t the worst i was second row clarinet and I had to put up with the brass trumpets blasting right behind me. At least flutes didn’t do that. I do wish they were a bit louder cause I can never hear them even when I’m on the same row, just not in the same group.
@@aemckennon just tried it out. It’s a real struggle I also have naturally big lips so it’s really hard. Ok I’ve the position correct and since I’m a clarinet player I’m used to using a lot of air so my notes are much more prominent so it comes out much louder.
@@aemckennon trust me. I know😔 my main problems is running out of breath and I need my sister to help me with the notes. She’s off this Monday but I have a concert on Monday...
Learn to love your instrument. I'm a newbie clarinet player and I do love how others played their flute but clarinet has its own beauty and charms too. Just be the best being you. I usually watch clarinetist cover here on UA-cam. And also in our church I observe how they played flute. Then I made a goal to be able to play my clarinet just the way they played their flute. 😁
I personally love the flute. You have to put it the way she is doing it with the clarinetist. The key to flute is you have to blow air straight but into the hole, like a straw. It also has to be cold air, depending on what note you'll like to play. Hope this helps!!!
No, don't be (As a part of a very successful middle school band, I play all the instruments) Because clarinets are MY FAV and absolutely BEAUTIFUL. The easy octave changes, the colour variations (JUST OPTIONAL LOL) and just it's somber music. Work on it and you'll see what I'm talking bout
Performance was April 12, 2016 at Jacksonville University's Terry Concert Hall. (Florida) It was the the senior recital of Kim Trumbull (flute) performing with Aubrey Corbitt (clarinet). Kim commissioned the work.
Excellent! Funny, talented and charming preformers!
my band director sent this to me (a flute player) and my best friend (a clarinet player) saying “its you”

They both sounds just alike love the 2 comparisons I especial love the Disney sounds
I’m trying to decide between playing flute or clarinet in band, help.
Edit: I chose clarinet and I LOVE IT!
They are both good instruments. Try both.
Anne McKennon I can only pick one

Anne McKennon ok thank you, I appreciate your help.
Panda Car hopefully you chose clarinet
Love this idea, wonderfully performed!!
Hit it on the head! What a fun composition Anne!
So funny and cute 😂😂😭😭❤️❤️✨✨....
Thank you so much!
what if you did this, but kept adding more clarinets so the flutist is alone among an army of clarinets.
That’s literally every woodwind band class ever.
that's why other instrument are annoying they always over power the higher pitched instruments
Pues la flauta tendria que usar su 3 octava para sonar por lo menos
This is so good
I played flute and clarinet, one thing I can say the difference between them... is that clarinet takes up so much breath 😵
i only know recorder, and I want to learn the clarinet. are fingerings for these instruments the same?
@@mille1024 not the exact same, but very similar
First I red duet as "dowel" !and i said myself oh man! But when i watched vid Then I comebacked and cheked the second time!
Lolo

It takes time to get control over the air stream & your sound.

@@aemckennon welcome I'm going to play flute for Onalaska junior senior high School
I hope you have a great year with interesting music to play.
@@aemckennon yes thank you
why is this me and my sis tho...🤣 (sis plays flute and i play clarinet)
Sounds like the 2 of you should play it. :)
so I play clarinet and personally i’m jealous of all flute players :( does anyone have any tips ?
All instruments are worthwhile.
Buy a cheap flute and have fun, you can play more than one instrument

Great!
Thanks! The performers did a great job bringing the piece to life.
That's what's called a win win situation!
Hope you enjoyed the performance.
came from twoset to see if I could tell the two apart in a blind test
Great duet with a lot of personality in the performance. Does anyone know where this was performed?

interesting)
my aunt plays the clarinet and I the flute 🤣
This might be the piece for you!
I need help should I play the flute or clarinet
They are both good choices. Try each one. If you cannot try both, then chose the one your band needs most.
Thx
Bunny Boo boo depends people are born with different face and if u can’t make a sound out of flute and I recommend clarinet
I personally love the clarinet
I play the flute and I love it but clarinet is also very nice but it is ultimately your choice 😁
LMFAOOOAAAOOO😂🤣🤣 nice one tho UwU
Edit: it is soo cute and funny 😆
Glad you like the piece. The performers did a great job.

I think they are not rivals.
It's a friendly rivalry. :)
