It does take you by surprise the first time it happens for sure but I think it's useful to create increasingly difficult levels towards the end. We'll see what other players say!
You could add a new currency that act like a special life that can only saves you from falling. Then you can fiddle the difficulty around by giving more or less of the currency, could even do some kind of tricky platforming rooms the confident players with lives could try.
@@so0meone It's still an issue of "who can break through all the ground first," so maybe what Beans said would be best, or maybe give a damage bonus if you don't hide much or something
I think the ground destruction is integral to the physics based gameplay (hence the launching yourself into space), and why you die if you fall off the map. It looked like you bounced off the edge while underground though, you would have to try but I would guess you can't run off the edge and die by accident if you hit it while digging
I think a cool way to do the sound effects would be to make muffled sounds when you’re underground and more bombastic sounds when you’re out of the ground. Maybe even something like wind or weather sounds whenever you’re in the air.
I do really like this concept and the gameplay, v unique, esp rn. I would say the falling part is unfortunate. Esp that you can do it on solid bottom looking maps, and you can destroy the map. And that you can't control yourself in the air, so there's not a lot you can do. It's sort of going "oh btw you can fail, and not have anything you can do about it." Ending on a positive note, I do also like our automaton friends, and the worms are indeed friend shaped
I would say that adding a segment early is just a bad idea as you are easier to hit and don't have strong enough weapons early to make it worth it. move speed builds could be fun since it is physics based.
I mean, no offense intended, but you fell off the edge a single time when you didn't expect it to kill you instantly. I don't think it'd necessarily be such an issue after it happened one single time and you learned to avoid it
Is roguelike game. Is no need to be salty on mic bc of death, makes for an awkward viewing experience. Otherwise, enjoyed the video and the game looks awesome
I didn’t want to be the one to say it but yeah lol Really cool gameplay but the models could be tweaked a bit 😄 Wishlisted anyway! I was actually thinking it should be more rectangular segmentation leaning toward train like rather than the semiorganic look the devs seemed to be going for.
@Retromation Literally the first time I watched there was no audio. No commentary or anything. Watched for a few minutes from the start and it was dead silence. But can hear 2nd time round. Far more pleasant this way haha

The edge thing definitely works to provide a challenge.
Instant move to the next room at border is very annoying. Because you do not receive loot or upgrades when it occurs.

@@dmarsub The ground being fully destructible takes care of that. You can't just hide because your opponent can destroy your cover.

Movement needs momentum like Ecco the Dolphin where you can build up speed.
The music and style reminds me of a game called Arrow of Time. It had a story and extremly fun weapon combinations.
I remember this type of games on flash, interesting to see another take on these

this would be a REALLY fun multiplayer game
it took me 3 runs to understand that the circles on the enemies are weapon cooldown meanwhile this guy understands first try
