  • Another video of the Hotpoint 9530A. This machine is 30 years old this month - however originally purchased 29 years ago on the 19th December 1977 by a Mr J. D. Hill from Ketts - a southern domestic appliance retailer who have since ceased trading - purchased for the sum of £320. Better than any £320 Grotpoint you can buy today anyway! The machine seemed to skip its shuttle cooling. I didnt record all the static heating phase, the complete cycle took 45 mins in total.

I loved these early hotpoint machines when hotpoint was at its best. So easy to work on. Top mounted motor for easy replacement of the carbons. Even a bearing change was a pleasure to do on these machines

I can imagine they were everywhere at one point. The couple who lived opposite us had a stacked set in their breakfast room off the kitchen, you can see the corner of the set on the Rightmove photos when they moved like 19 years ago!

Yep. A shame but always a risk shipping any machine around the world let alone a brittle old Hotpoint. :-(
