Thanks to him I wrecked my Schwinn AppleCrate numerous times launching myself off a 4x8 sheet of plywood and a stack of cinder blocks. He was my hero as a kid and I am still fond of him and his fearless spirit.

Lol - your 7 friends trusted your abilities. We set metal trash cans on their side and jumped them. I also remember landing on my front tire once and doing a face plant into the ground and knocking the wind out of me. My best friend Brian kept asking me if I was ok while I was trying to get my wind back. You’re right.... not a care in the world other then a set of bent handlebars.

I grew up watching Evel Knievel in the 1970's. He was our hero and inspired many of us to jump homemade ramps and dirt outcroppings. I even had the Evel Knievel wind up motorcycle and action figure. Those were the daze!

Witnessed Evel perform at the Shriners/ statefair collisium in Detroit. Leaped over a combination of 13 cars and vans in a space that barely cleared his pearl painted Bell star helmeted head. When he returned and rode his. Harley ironhead up the landing ramp, he took the announcers microphone and said " to my good friends here in Detroit I want to apologize. My jump was short tonight and Im Going to jump once more" The place went ballistic. his mechanic. Met him on the top row of the collisums roof and you could hear the bikes engine now growl like a pisstoff mountianlion. He hit the takeoff ramp again and landed the bike totally out of the floor this time.
It was freeking incredible. And absolutely unforgetable for as long as I live....

I watched a show about him 1 time. The Guy said Evel would get there look things over and say I can't make that. The Guy also said Evel still went even after saying he knew he couldn't make it.He Crashed and when he was being loaded into an ambulance he asked Evel Why did you go through with it even knowing you couldn't make it? Evel Stopped and looked at the Guy and in true Evel Knievel fashion asked. What did you want me to give their money back? That was the Icon named Evel Knievel

The suspension sure didn't do him any justice. As soon as the back tire hit, the bike was ripped from his hands, then the suspension popped him up into the air. As for how he approached the fall I give him a perfect 10!
