"Bowling for Dollars" with Chick Hearn was seen on Los Angeles TV Station KTLA Channel 5 from July 4, 1972-March 4, 1977 and again on Los Angeles TV Station KHJ-TV (now KCAL-TV) Channel 9 from February 27-September 15, 1978.
The show started in Baltimore as Duckpins and Dollars in Baltimore on WBAL in the mid 60s, duckpins was a regional variation of the game, it was last picked up from various cities as Bowling for Dollars. It was on in Washington, twice, first on Channel 20 with Don Scott, a couple of years later with Johnny Holiday on Channel 5 from Brunswick River Bowl in Bethesda which is now a Whole Foods Grocery Store. The show was created by Bert Claster productions who also came up with Romper Room, a TV nursery school which was either syndicated or each a local host.
I only wish they had used the old animations and music. For some reason, I loved those as a kid. I didn't see any mention of "Bert Claster Productions", the original syndicator that has long since been absorbed into Hasbro Industries.
Bob Allison looks as old as dirt. I remember him (and this show) from my childhood. Guess that’s saying something. Well, at least he still has a gig, so there’s that…
oh yea love it
One of the first shows I remember as a kid along with Candid camera and Days of our lives.. (Moms fav show back in the day)

That's what 😦 I'd like ❤️ to know, Zachery!
Pretty sure that 12 year old kid would void his youth membership being on this show trying to win money lmao
