The Mercedes C-Class has been given an update for 2019 to keep it up to speed with the usual suspects in the compact executive class, namely the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Jaguar XE and Alfa Romeo Giulia. Mercedes' best-selling model has been given some minor styling tweaks and extra tech - Ginny got behind the wheel to see what difference the changes have made and how the C-Class compares with the competition.

Even if it's the mid life refresh, I feel that Mercedes should have given the C-Class the MBUX system that the A Class has
Completely agree but a totally new C Class is due next year. I think Mercedes has just done a small refresh to extend the life of the current model 12-18 months.
@@Anthonyn2 omg this hit me like a train
@@thokozanigab Have you just been sold one?
Then there would be no reason for people to buy the next generation C-Class when it comes out.
@@iPat6G But the refreshed GLC has the MBUX system, so why can't this?
I order this new C200 1.5 EQ boots facelift Dec 18, just pick up last week, it’s so good and beautiful! Not bad . 👍👍👍👍
About 6500 new components... Does each diamond on the grille represent a component?
6500... to go wrong... since we don't know it will....since it new... possible cost more than new car...
here we have a person who knows nothing about car engineering
About time👏
waiting for that 5th generation C Class next year so I can watch it's reviews on UA-cam
And what Merc I can afford in a decade
Congrats 👍 for the first time you are driving a CAR. The car 🚘😍
I wish Mercedes never get rid of tue unique and fantastic uni-blade wiper, it was magical on my W210!!!
Great video, good job. I notice that in most car review videos no one ever mentions the sound system. To me, and I'll guess a lot more people, it's quite important with decent sound in the car. Why is that?
it is me the only feel like its carwow
Honest, fair and thorough review as usual, many thanks.
Love our C-Class 😊😊
The interior may be nice, but the tablet sat nav is a design disaster. Really a deal breaker. A klasse interior is better than the C Klasse's.
Wait for the refresh I guess. I'd probably lean to the new 3 series if you wanted tech
Exactly my point this is a deal breaker for me too
I got this exact tablet from aliexpress for 500$ for my 2015 cls lol mercedes really cheap out on this because they will put the double screen on the 2021 new model
Smart and clean
Beautiful car:)
Love it. The one befor this ”new” my car driving schooled used as school cars and i loved driving it
Is this a 2018 0r 2019 I am looking at the front grill does that grill come in the 2019 or 2019 model.
Just got a C200 recently, switched from my 320i to this, and can honestly say i love it, just feels so much more luxurious, feels alot more expensive and cant get bored of the dash, drive wise although it isnt as fun, it still has that kick to it that you enjoy, drove the new 3 series and didnt like it as much, A4 i dont like the look of them, but the Merc definitely looks the best to
J B is the 1.5L mild hybrid good also? Enough punch?
Mobz2596 yeah id say it punches quite well, to be fair i raced a 420i last week, ended up winning, but then when we raced with corners he had me, so it all depends
J B is the engine very noisy too? I’ve seen so many car reviews stating it’s a super noisy engine
Mobz2596 yeah it is, when it starts off its pretty noisy but it quites down alot once warm, wouldnt say it sounds or is as noisy as a diesel though
J B ah that’s a shame :/ I guess the detracts from
The overall quality?
Ginny we’ve missed you!
but you can only get memory seats by purchasing a pack that costs 3k. so stupid how they make you buy 'packs'
Smart you mean. Stupid is who buys it. I ll go Lexus next.
Memory seats cost £600 not £3k? I cant see memory seats as part of any pack.
@@wayfaringcookie8142 oh hopefully they have changed it then. if they have, its about time, it has taken them years!
OK I'll take it!
Really? A car review by someone who - by their own admission - can mistake a petrol merc engine for a diesel! People on youtube will watch anything- or at least carbuyer think so!
I couldn't believe she said that. Yes it might be a noisy engine. But as a "professional" car reviewer could she not tell just by looking at the rev counter.
Great Video Review. I would choose the New BMW 3 Series as my choice
Jamie Pickles that’s what I am struggling with just now, past three cars all been new bmw 320d but quite like this for a change just dunno
Are the speakers not burmester?
Does anyone know if Mercedes-Benz C-Class
C200 AMG Line Premium 4dr 9G-Tronic has rooftop?
I am hoping to get one of these when I pass my driving test and get my driving licence
Love the c class, however my pick of the range would have to be the new 3 series or even the new Volvo s60😍
mu5lim get ur eyes checked before u comment please
Aaron ur deluded, the s60 is not anywhere near better than this. Get ur own eyes checked
So if you would like to promote a car, or anything, you need to point out all good sides. If comparing to something else, dont point out whats better on other one, point out whats better on the one you try to sell and set its own personality. Never fall on what sonething else has that the one you sell doesnt.
You should watch more back epsiodes of Top Gear Jemery Clarkson's reviews. Say it like it is, the good, bad and the ugly.
This is the mid life refresh of The Mercedes C class in 2019. Can anyone tell me when the totally refreshed version will be available ? Thanks
Small facelift the new model will come in 2021 with a huge screen in the center console
the 1.5 is a k9k Renault clio engine in this!
What's changed, the rear lights?
The interior, the previous version didn't have the digital display
@@MrDokhal Digital display is only standard on premium or premium plus packages though.
A petrol engine loud as a diesel? Maybe the engine was cold
Always liked this car but my leg keeps resting on interior centre console. This doesn’t happen in the Bmw - this is a deal breaker for me.
Manual forward n backward seat adjust is great cuz the automatic takes ages to adjust and it creeps on my patience.
shot 6 months ago?
I’m a Merc fan. To hear you talking about increased noise in the petrol is disappointing.
That flys in the face of MB design goals.
Mind hybrids are a waste.
Put in the Plug or leave it alone.
I’m interested in the C300de.
That could be a winner for me, Estate is preferable, however a sedan is ok too.
Why do the screens look like children's tablets?
Try pushing out onto a main road, the gap will never be there.
Nice review. You seem to do much better without that bloke. Relaxed, perkier and less inhibited.
Man, that review sounded really so scripted! Repeated just every other UK review (see carwow) said about this car. I rented the C200 for a weekend in Germany. Didn't find it particularly comfortable over bumps. Don't know if the air suspension makes things that much smoother. As VW CC driver, I didn't find the c class much better over bumps, if not worse which was disappointing, driving for the first time a Mercedes saloon. I guess you need to step up to E class to get that so called Mercedes comfort. Otherwise many saloons on the market offer equivalent comfort to the c class, even without a BMW, Audi badge. I very much liked the chunked and direct steering in the merc, which I should give credit.
Not all models have all of these features. Some have more features and some have less. And also stop recommending other vehicles, Try to include that. But apart from that, great video!
Super
Just wait till all new c class ... This is the same since 2014
Great review, but my good God. How did you not know this car was a petrol after 1 minute of driving it. Surely as a car reviewer you can tell the difference.
Why do car firms insist on displays that look like after market add ons!
They look best as they are in the eye sight
@@BrateTebra123 integrated screens look so much more aesthetic, they can just as easily build them centrally like with the VW Golf
@@Neklank "look more aesthetic" hahaha
@@Neklank The Golf is a class by it self. Rearly a car can compete with Golf regarding practicality

nice jacket
They paste such big photo of Ginni as thumbnail, its so tough to ignore and not click on the video
The car is alright overall, but I hate the interior ,with those stupid three round vents , and that horrible display glued on top of the dash ,it just looks cheap..and let's be honest ,the exterior is the same s..t so no, I'll go with the beemer
Best car hands down
0.23 bonnet panel gap, fender / bumper alignment & fender / bonnet alignment all far from satisfactory. Amazing that manufacturers supply news organisations with poorly built examples.
Yeah, that is hideous. "Premium" car quality control
Driving same in 4matic since October 2018. Very good car, quick engine with plenty power. You don’t need big engine or diesel as long as you don’t driver over 12-14000 miles per year. This does the job.
Everything is perfect with this car apart from the seats. Seats ain’t the comfortable at all. They are hard.
Engine isn’t that noisy as said in the review.
4matic is heavy to drive.
Have enough power, all mode work perfectly fine even the engine is supplied by Renault.
Diamond grill is only standard in AMG line models. Not in any other model.
Now AMG like model is nice and aggressive looking car with its grill.
Also I managed to get 52mpg on motorway 90miles drive. Good enough. Average o m getting after 7000 miles is 31.7
Thanks
What about fuel consumption?
Yes, it consumes fuel
A dazzling array of tech, hugely updated and closely resembling it's bigger brother the S-Class on the interior...? NO! Why have Mercedes insisted on continuing to stick with that 'after market' add on tablet attached to the dashboard when they could have rolled out the beautiful glass dashboard that's in the A, E and S Class? The C Class looks like it's stayed still while the other models around it have moved on. And where's the promised DE engine that would be a huge BIK help to company car drivers?
Car has a 2018 plate
Irrelevant because it's still the facelifted and latest model.
Well in 2019 the 19 plates come out in March they could’ve bought it before
3 series please
Lol @ 1.5 litre engine....understandable in a post-Brexit future. Get the C43 3 litre twin turbo, and in estate format....
No lol that will cost you to the point that you’re better buying a Porsche, Maserati or i8.
@@WatNeyHD c43 is cheap its like 50 k
Aswin BUC looks like a regular C class though nobody will care if you have one
K B Because if people don’t like you then you won’t be able to get as much as you want from them. Status is a massive factor and if you have it you will find it much easier to navigate your way through life.
A 1.5 litre engine is great for smaller light weight sports cars just not suitable for a luxury sedan.
despite more and more robots being used for production the prices of these are increasing exponentially
Business owners just getting greedier and greedier
More technology installed in every generation.
@@pauladdison9978 you find the same in cheaper models too, like the trunk opening foot sensor
Well unless you do a 3 year contract rental you can look forward to high repair costs due to poor reliability...
3 year contract rental costs more
C 200? We only have 300 and up here
New Peugeot 508 really stands out. It is actually the nicest in the segment in this moment. It is just so much better.
Merc is THIRTY STONE heavier than the equivalent Audi
Saint Etienne ..... Audi drivers are 30 stone heavier than the average Mercedes driver
LOL - *fat cats* are the only ones who can afford them
most have them as company cars paid for by employer
C300 or c43 for me please
Still comes with a Renault engine?
C Can only the A class A180d is
yes the C160, C160d, C180, C180d and C200 use renault supplied engines
@@HANSE658 Is that a problem though, aren't Renault engines actually very good and the C Class is I think the only Mercedes with above average reliability, some of the higher models have horrific reliability ratings. Just feels to me the C class makes a lot of sense if you like a posh car brand that isn't too unreliable and costly to run. A few less gadgets means a few less things to go wrong.
Can't help thinking this car is exceptionally boring, the review seems to focus on the nice interior and not much else it's like she wasn't interested in driving it at all.
@@bonzobanana1 when comfort is the primary feature a petrol engine being rougher that it's diesel counterpart is a problem
@@bonzobanana1 Actually this C class is well bellow the industry average. So you are better of with an Audi A4 or BMW as long as its petrol. Also If you want a posh brand that is reliable might want to look at Lexus. I actually test drove one a couple of months back and liked it all but for the price they wanted, and knowing posh German reliability, I was considering Lease over Finance. As the parts are very very expensive.
So a Mercedes is stealable? Get out!
You review the car as you've never seen the new A and CLA. Who on Earth will buy this when the CLA is cheaper and better
mind RWD vs FWD
More rear legroom
4:45 you drove the car for a day or two without checking which engine it had? Really? That’s what my mum would have done but she isn’t an auto critic
That’s 2018 not 19
mahdi abdullahi its probably an early production car. The interior screens show its the facelift 2019 model.
You don't get how car company doing their year model, don't you...
You always put the camera guy outside when doing the interior review..making not gud.. Make sure his inside and behind you so we see and know what you on about...since Matt has left guys have bad camera work..Bachelor is also very shallow in reviews..
In depth, 6 min?
Shame the dash is pants. Nothing like the S Class inside
A class sedan interior is so much better and cost less. Merc really killed C class when they released A class sedan
Fancy does not mean quality
Check the quality of a class first ...
I've driven a 68 plate A35 AMG and you can tell where they've cut corners and saved money compared to mid spec C class cars. In reality the double screen layout is tiny (the one I drove had the upgraded screens). The road noise was bad and for daily driving it's not as good. Was fast though and I loved the look and feel of the MBUX 👍
@@TheAftermath1987 I like A class sedan but I bought a Lexus NX300 F sport
How is it really easy to use? How about out put an old person that is not too tech savvy and let have them say what they think about the "tech" and let them fiddle with it and see "how easy" it is to use... Shall we?
The display screen already looks dated... next...
3:23 They're not fully electric?!?!?! 😱😱😱 My god the end of the world...has come. Get ready people 😂😂 C'mon seriously??
For the price it should be...
My Camry has power forward and backward seats. My 2003 W203 C180K has a more adjustable seat lol, come on mercedes...
@@campkira yeah i see what you wanna say but...it's not that big of a deal...
i like the 2018 e class
How's this interior better than A4's? Materials? Ergonomy? Tech? Ahhm...
Where is the review? This is a way too short and abstracted
First one to comment yess!! The car looks lovely.
Who in gods name would buy that old stuck-on tablet infotainment when you know every single other merc, plus the upcoming new c class, have the (now 2 year old) far superior double screen one. It’s a definite no from me for his reason alone.
Correct, I ordered the 19 aclass over this mainly for this reason
Looks like an E-Class.
EinkOLED no. No it doesn’t.
The dashboard is ugly, they should have included the new one !
Proper drivers will realise how terrible the Renault engine is and actually how unreliable in comparison to Mercedes' engines. Merc lovers will realise how uncomfortable the A class is and noisy (C200) is in comparison to the C220d +...(or higher)
dont mind me just day dreaming here.

What's the difference between this channel and carwow? Is this a knock off version of carwow?
Carbuyer was made first
@@liamcurrie4011 oh I see, thanks. Why does carwow seem better
Poor quality review. The car is fine, however, the presenter tried too hard to be funny.
Naff car that lacks the basics, like an audio system!
Great car. I absolutely love my C200 amg premium plus estate, 2020. Love it. Super comfortable seats. C200 1.5 twin turbo has no whining of the electric and actually sounds quite nice when you boot it. Unlike this review. Maybe she broke it. Or maybe she drove a diesel. Anyway, she is talking rubbish about this engine. I totally recommend it. Genuine 40+ mpg on E5 petrol and super quiet and surprisingly quick and smooth. Rubbish review. Maybe she drove a 2003 Golf estate and didn’t know the difference. Terrible review anyway.
Can still get stolen in under 40 seconds 👎🏻

Still got the cheap tablet stuck on the dash? Not gonna buy!
This is not top of the range trim hahaha, this is just amg line... premium plus is top of the range. Poor journalism
It's boring even in orange
Shanjan Usman i Don’t actually think the car is orange though. I think its a colour filter on the camera. Im sure its originally Designo Red.
The basic design looks like a Vauxhall insignia....
cheap quality of the interiors PD
poor review
