You're not paying him that - or the Jets aren't. Most of that is Woody Johnson's money that won't count against the cap. I don't quite get it but it's been 15 million for the first year and 24 for the second.
Draft picks are a different story, but it's not going to be a 50-60 million cap hit.

As much as we're all on board with the IDEA of Rogers coming here, my cynical Jets fan mindset just won't allow me to consider it a possibility. Plus now with the Brock Purdy injury and the offloading of Garropolo, the 49ers are starting to look like they might be a QB-needy team. And I mean c'mon... if any QB is looking between the NY Jets and the 49ers as a new potential home... the Jets just don't stand a CHANCE.

Reasons that Rodgers would like to play for the Jets. 1) Rodgers cares about his legacy. SB wins matter for that. The Jets are the most talented QB needy team. Rodgers would need to commit to three years, which is what he has left on his contract. Deep play off run next year and then two SB wins would cement his place as one of the greatest QBs ever. 2) Ownership has to be on board and committed because Rodgers don't give any hometown discounts, just ask GB. Jets owner is ready. 3) Rodgers loves the attention. NY is the biggest stage in the NFL. Rodgers says publicly he doesn't care if he is the villain but I think he wants to be the hero. What better place to do that than the Jets, who have been dying for another SB for years.
The definition of insanity is to not learn from the Brett Favre disaster and repeat the same exact mistake with the same team and piss away first round picks on another 40-year old QB and Jet fans wonder why they are the laughing stock of the NFL. Jet delusion know no bounds!

Why would the Jets pay over $100M and still give up draft picks for a guy GB doesn't want? I say pay a 2023 2nd round pick, and a conditional 2024 2nd round pick. If the Jets win a playoff game this year the 2024 becomes a 1st round pick. If Rogers doesn't play the majority of offensive snaps in 2023 or he retires after the 2023 season the 2024 pick drops to only a 4th round pick. NO way we give up 1st round picks for a guy who could get hurt this year and then retire at the end of the season. That would be a joke and make the Russell Wilson trade to Denver look good.
At this stage of his career Rodgers won't propel the Jets past the top 3 or 4 teams in the AFC. For the next decade the Jets will be up against probably the best 3 or 4 QBS in football - good luck Jets fans!
