@@annachrisslo173 No, he just has a problem with this man being an idiot. No problem with the women herself. It's just that he doesn't even know her and just because she has a pretty face, he gives out authentic compliments... unauthentically. Ironic isn't it.
@@paradiseproductions2293 you're right. However, your delivery is very negative and probably wont motivate him to change. You might of just strengthened his perspective due to your approach lol. To each his own.
We vets from all branches are family. But I would love to see you do more pull ups than me. I am old Army and standards were slightly lower for females. But hats off to ya regardless and mad respect.
As an Old Corps Marine (1971 - 1977), I would still trust you to guard my six than over 90% of the men in the world. Regardless of your MOS, you are, and will always be, a Marine and that's enough to have my respect. Semper Fi sister.
@@amossivan3819 I've been an expert shot since joining. You can say what you want but I would have anybody's back in combat, man or woman. I don't appreciate being judged based on my looks and the fact that I'm 'nice'.
USMC 1958 - 1962 I'm older LOL women Marines in the past were office workers highly respected if we ever used the term BAM "broad ass Marine '" we were toast , they did there jobs very well .
Hi Sarah...I am a Marine veteran and I hear what you are saying. The Marine Corps is certainly male oriented, but with women like yourself doing your job as best you can... certainly will, over time, help the Corps to become even better than it is today. Semper Fi R.D. USMC 1960-1964
I'm a female Marine and I must say that on UA-cam, other than stupid bootcamp videos, there is a severe lack of female Marine advice videos. Please post more!! I've already run into issues with Milsos and I'm not even in the fleet.
ParadoxdelaPaladino Yes!! You are 100% right on that. I would like to do the whole shebang, download editing software and all that. Maybe invest in a quality camera. Because I was not prepared at all for boot camp. There was Katy Perry's 'Part of Me' on UA-cam and that was it lmao Not all Milsos are bad, I have a couple that are dear friends of mine. After I got out, my husband was still active duty so technically I was a 'Milso'. Very different lifestyle lol
Oops, I didn't see this when I asked if you were married to someone active duty in the military. I'm glad one of you isn't active duty, otherwise you'd see each other maybe once or twice a year !!!
Women in the military have to walk a fine line, especially early in their careers. I am not a very feminine woman and I am definitely treated differently than my more feminine colleagues. There are some men who automatically get their backs up if you aren't really feminine so you get flack from them and outright hostility at times. The same goes for feminine women, they are dismissed as incompetent or ditzy (even though they aren't at all) or they are sexualized by their male counterparts which is not cool. I have been in for 9 years now and its a lot easier as an NCO because their is an understanding that I have been around for a while and have proven myself. My subordinates, peers and supervisors acknowledge that I know what I am doing as I have had enough time to show that I am switched on and dedicated. Unfortunately, that took 4 years, which for some is an entire career. Great video BTW. It was honest and humble. It's good information for anyone thinking of following in your foot steps. Good luck with your studies.
AmesKtown Wow! I honestly never thought about the challenges that more 'masculine' type females had to face. I was always under the impression they were automatically on a male's 'good side'. Pretty eye opening. That is true about the 4 years, I was finally comfortable in my own skin as an NCO by the time I got out. But, I enlisted in the reserves so.. the legacy continues. haha.
The Noble and Mighty Beaver it's not only women that have problems. descriminations against people with different sexual orientations and race occurs too.
+Adonis Guy Definitely. The military is representative of society at large where some forms of discrimination are exaggerated due to the hyper-masculinity of the general environment. All major western nations are taking concerted efforts at this time to mitigate these problems and I have seen a huge change for the better within the Canadian military over the last 10 years. The US is starting to tackle these problems head on now as well and change is happening. There is certainly a long way to go though.
The Noble and Mighty Beaver I was in the US Navy from 89-93. at that time, racial descimination is already against US military regulations. but racism via racial name calling and other forms still occured to a degree and covertly. some doesn't report such act due to fear of retribution from the offender. and some do it to each other for fun and games until one of them really offended, then they'll report it. it occurs in the officer ranks too. I know a former USMC officer who was called racist name by a higher ranking officer during desert storm operation. the lower ranked officer slugged him! both charges were dropped because both officers violated UCMJ regulations.
+Adonis Guy I currently work with a number of US Navy pers and as far as I can surmise calling another sailor a racial slur would be dealt with swiftly and harshly. Bearing in mind though, they only select personnel for Canadian postings who have not had any history of misconduct as it is a high profile gucci go. I have Canadian colleagues who work with the USMC and the sexist, homophobic and racist language and behaviour is much more prolific within that branch than the Navy.
I really enjoyed this video, when I was in NROTC at ASU I experienced a lot of what you described. You're always under a microscope. I decided to enlist and go officer later and I leave for boot camp Sept 22nd!
That is awesome to hear!! The Marines has a program called MECEP. (Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioned Education Program) You serve 4 years enlisted, apply for the program, go to OCS, then attend school to get your bachelors degree, then serve your time as an officer. That is an option for you!
thank you for posting this, this is actually extremely helpful as I'm getting ready to graduate and head out to boot camp. There are VERY few female marines where I live and no female recruiters, so I don't really have anyone to talk to or anything of the sort. So thank you so much for posting this because this is really good insight for my near future!
Thank you Sarah! You're a beautiful person inside and out! As you progress in your studies you'll use the DSM V which gives detailed explanations of all the mental and personality disorders. You will quickly understand all the naysayers in your past and their incessant need to denigrate those around them. It's usually their own insecurities that make them want to blow your candle out so theirs can shine a little brighter. Thank you for just being Sarah! I wish you and your husband the very best and I strongly feel that your best days are just ahead! Blessings!
More pullups than the men, yeah right. I recall that respect was really only given for maxing out (20 pullups). Anyone with less than 10 was considered a shitbird. Many of us considered any PFT with less than 20 as a personal failure. If 20 pullups was what the WMs did for their respect then I shall retract, but it needs to be convincing. MCIWS however is some hard ass shit so I do respect that as a goal. I dont understand why swim qual takes a week though. I got WSQ which was a pretty extensive test, but it comes down to either pass (very few) or fail. At that level, swim survival is not a highly perishable skill.
Sarah Wagner fyi I never had issues respecting WMs as people and as ladies, which is something that too many male Marines failed to do. It is one aspect of being a gentleman. The social engineering going on now is throwing the baby out with the bathwater (the non-gentleman treatment which you no doubt experienced). What I am mostly opposed to is the agenda driven spin that goes on. If the American people knew how things actually are without that spin, then there would be some brakes put on some of the changes being forced through right now. I respect LtCol Germano for trying to bring some honesty to the table, even if I disagreed with the agenda she endorsed. It's very clear to me why she was fired. She had a sense of honesty that made her not so good at the spin. Honest assessments will not be tolerated. That is why many active duty Marines have to keep silent, but I don't have to. I may not put things into politically correct terms, but I will strive to focus on the broader issue and not resort to making it personal. There is an important line between passionate concern for our future and a extremists sensitivity to getting triggered. I intend to stay on the side of well-reasoned, morally based passion.
In my personal experience the females in my squadron get the special treatment. They get promotions over the males who have better pft, cft, rifle scores, and more qualifications. I've seen male Marines who are amazing at their jobs lose meritorious boards to females who are just plain average. Of course there are some great female Marines out there but from what I've seen they get the special treatment. I know a lance who's been a lance for almost 4 years who is the most outstanding lance corporal I've ever seen. Has 300 pft and cft, expert on the range, has almost every qualification his MOS has to offer and easily stands out as a leader among other lance corporals. This is the same guy who lost a meritorious Corporal board to a female not even 6 months into the fleet. That same female who beat him is now back to a lance corporal for a DUI charge.
pat duckets I've seen situations like that happen numerous times.. it is unfortunate but it doesn't happen as much as you think. Among gender favoritism, I've also seen many, MANY Marines win boards because of their skin color. When I was a PFC, my roommate and I were chosen to go on a LCpl board but only one of us could go. Our Corporal at the time was Puerto Rican, as well as my roommate. I had 1st class PFT, CFT and was stellar at PT. MCIs done, etc. I was squared away.. My roommate would fall out of runs, she wasn't much of a leader. Anyway, she was the one who was chosen for the board. It wasn't until a couple years later when I was a Corporal and I was talking to a Sergeant (who was my other Corporal when I was a PFC), when he told me that the reason why my roommate was chosen over me is because 'Puerto Ricans have to stick together'. So favortism happens in every aspect you can think of..
Cpl Sarah Wagner thank you for your service. You not only have a sisterhood but also a brotherhood. I served from October 1973 - October 1993. I retired a GySgt. I served with honesty and dignity with both male and female Marines better known as "Marines" no distinction between the genders. Semper Fi
I personally have quite a lot of respect for female Marines. I served from 2010-2017 and lots of things happened throughout that time. While no one likes the stereotypical female Marine (we know what that entails), most that I've met had to work extra hard to prove themselves and be taken seriously. I met many throughout my career that where way better of a Marine that I ever was.
I randomly found your channel! My boyfriend is in the Navy but currently working with the marines. I hear all these stories about marines and stereotypes about them. I can definitely understand and relate how people judge you and disrespect you simply because you're a female. I'm proud of you for earning what you deserve! Good luck in college, i'm in school as well, graduating in spring 2017 :)
Grace R Thank you! It's sad that in this day in age, women are still stereotyped. Right now along with going to school, I stay at home with the little one and take care of the house. Guess I'm back where I belong now! LOL ;) Good luck with school and thank you again for the kind words.
I was in navy it was quite an adventure but I think I wouldn't do it again, men did treat me different since I am beautiful and a female so I totally can relate sister.
Adriana Jimenez I agree. I was in the US navy too. pretty females get treated nice especially from guys. it's no different from the civilian realm. it's all about SEX. sex and race are instictive and part and parcel of the human nature.
That is awesome to hear! If I could go back, I would of worked on my running a little more. That and my pull ups. Make sure you work on your endurance!! Good luck to you!!
I watch this and you are me 30 years later. I was in 83-87. I went to Disbursing school at Lejeune then got stationed at MCAS Beaufort for my entire time in the Marines. We didn't have advanced swim qualifications back in the old days but I too was on the swim team in high school so I think I would have made it. I was in really good shape. They made us do formation runs a few times a week. We didn't have to do pull-ups in the old days. I don't remember any military wives not liking me but I was with the same Marine (but didn't marry him) the entire time I was in. I think you had that problem because you are really pretty and I was more in the average looks department. I also got out a corporal. I went on an interview of some sort to be a drill instructor but they wanted me to extend my enlistment and I was tired of the Marines. I didn't feel women were treated with respect. I don't regret my decision to join the Marines. An honorable discharge from the military can be valuable when trying to get a new job. Although be careful there will be jealousy from some who never served.
I honestly never got any negativity from people from my hometown! Well actually, before I left for boot camp, I posted my decision on facebook and a lot of people told me I wouldn't make it. But other than that, everyone was actually pretty positive!
Sarah Wagner, Thank you for your service. You deserve respect not for just being a Marine, but for having the strength and the valor that led you to become one. Best of luck to your civilian life 👍
Hey! Thanks for the upload! I'm just about to finish up my associates, and then after that I'm headed into the Corps (should be about another year till I leave for basic). I really enjoy hearing about the experiences other women had and their warnings/ recommendations. I've already stated training for basic. As far as swim qualifications go, do you think it would be wise to go for advanced? I did swim team all growing up, and I'm pretty confident in the water.
Corporal ! Pls allow me, if you dont mind. Navy Doc here. Got 20 years in. Some of that was with the FMF. Okinawa and Camp Pendleton too. All during my tour as a "Devil Doc" and beyound. I grew to respect and care very much so, both personally and Professionally about Female Marines. Some of my better friends were WMs. One of my very best friends was a WM Sargent in Okinawa. I had just gotten out of the hospital as a patient when I met her in my command at Camp Courtney. That is where I began to know just what a WM is all about. When ever I meet a WM in the 1st Civ Div I have mega respect for them and I have a great time conversing with them. I knew one in the place I worked, she was a WM that got out and became a Nurse. Needless to say, we got along extremely well. I understand all the plights of a WM you spoke about. It pretty much is the same for a Female Seabee. (lol...I call em "Ladybees"). Just wanted to weigh in here cause I have been there with the WMs. BTW...I have know WMs that played Soccer with male Marines and whooped ass ! Yeah.... I got to treat their bruises .
Dependant Wives, there are alot of faithful ones out there. Then there were those few "Float Widows" who were cheating as soon as a MEU shipped out of Camp Lejeune for a 6 month float. Seen it back in my days (late 1990s) as an MP/5811. Poor sap would return and his wife is 3 or 4 months pregnant by another Marine. Then getting divorced by age 20. I'm pretty sure things haven't changed ☺ Semper Fi
gold digger me love long time tramp let a 19 year old go bar hopping in the Subic bay PI never did end up good lot of LBFM there guys that have there know what that is
Daniel Sayers it will never change "Float Widows" will always be there and gets even worst now because of all the easy access to contact anyone by text, facebook, tweeter etc..ect... If transporters were available Jody and the Float Widows will beam themselves to your bedroom as soon as you deploy.
I’m a military wife and definitely just look at myself as a normal person. I just happened to end up with a husband in the marines. I don’t understand why others get so jealous of the females in the Corp because they’re just doing their jobs.
Most, I was in the Marines 1967-70. Then went to my Community College, A.A. Business and Computer Programming, Mainframe System Analyst / Programmer 25 years...
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and advice. I recently enlisted and am very scared, yet excited. You just gave me an insight on what to expect though. thank you for serving!
Thank you so much for making this video!! I recently decided to enlist and have been trying to find everything I can about what it's like the be a female marine and this has helped give me a good idea on what to expect:)
I'm going to boot camp this summer, thank you so much for your service and thank you for posting this video. Watching made me feel a lot better :) once a Marine, always a Marine. Semper Fi.
This really helped my because I'll be going off less than a year from now and I really wanted to know more about how being a marine is especially for a woman 😁❤
I had to redraft this a couple times lol. There were so many situations like you mentioned when I served that it was almost like you were spending more time ducking and diving from wives and higher ups who wanted more than just you to serve in your MOS. I noticed you didn't mention that situation so I thought I would drop that bomb here. Oh yes, being a pretty Marine causes you tons of problems. One time I even considered having someone bust out my front teeth, but I was told that the teeth weren't what was the cause of the attention I was getting. -sigh- The old attitude "If you don't put out, then you must be a bitch." Was what I had to deal with. I'm sure there is a percentage of male Marines who have to deal with this problem and I realize that the Corps is a small rendition of the big ole world. I guess I was one of those who thought dignity meant dignity, and faithfulness included women. Many male Marines will tell you the same, that its not a good place for women and that they don't want women to fight next to them. I had a Colonel ask me one time why women don't stay in the military. Be a woman sir and you will figure that one out real quick.
ok, I picked on the part about the pullups. In context, I think it boils down to no shortage of competitiveness on your part. I don't have to like the spin, but I think I mostly get it. I read many of your replies to comments and you are pretty much right on where so many civilian misperceptions abound. I can tell you this - no one understands their own service better than Marines. Those in the other branches tend to learn only a sliver unless they reach flag rank. Army, Navy, AF are all so big and varied. In 2003 I went to Ft Sill to learn a new MOS (a relative handfull of Marines there). With self-study, I learned that Army had nine (9) types of infantry compared to Marines having just one kind. This helps to explain the difference between Marine vets and Army vets btw. Now if those IN uniform don't really know about their service (Marines excepted) then how can civilians be expected to get it? On the whole, it may be an impossible task, but if enough ppl can grasp the important things, then real progress is made. I don't have to agree with the agenda push on the military right now (USMC in some specific ways), but I appreciate a forum that produces discussion. No one is getting killed here or permanently injured (my old time stress or no-stress criteria). Everyone gets to go home with all body parts. This is how it should be. We don't have to agree to be civilized. What are Marines for anyway if not to put aside civility when called upon so that civilization can remain civil?
Congratulations M'lady Whats funniest to me is that what you said is true for the Army too. Thank you for your service. I hope college is going well for you. Respectfully John M Thompson SFC (R) U.S. ARMY
Lexes O'Hara Okinawa was seriously the one of the BEST experiences of my life!! I went to Tokyo for my 22nd birthday! The food is delicious and healthy. And weekends were spent at the beach. I would go there again in a heartbeat
I was in the USMC back in the 80s and since then, a lot has changed in the way of technology and how the military is received by society at large. One constant, though is the BS and politics and that will never go away. While I wish I could go back and change some things , I have no regrets. My biggest shame would have been to never have served at all. Thank you for serving and sharing.
You sound like an Outstanding Marine, hope you stick with college, as far as the subject your talking about, is great, my ex wife was a Marine, now retired, and I want to wish you luck with your future goals in life.. Doug
thank you for your service! I really enjoyed this video. I will be shipping out July 11th, 2017 for the Marine Corps. your video helped with some of what to expect 😊 rah
+Sarah Wagner thank you!! I bet! if you have the time, do you have any advice on preparing for boot? I'm a senior in high school so most of my time goes towards school but I'm also in the Delayed Entry Program so I have pt with my recruiter twice a week
Ashlie Lyon Working out with your recruiter is great! He or she should be preparing you physically for boot. If I could go back, I would run A LOT more and get my endurance up. I would also work on my pullups. Another important point is to keep your eye on the prize.. stay out of trouble and make sure not to do anything crazy at those graduation parties! When I was in the DEP, there were some kids who smoked pot a week before leaving so my recruiter had to push their dates out months further. I don't know if those guys ended up going or not! lol Another point is to take it easy when you work out. Yes you want to push yourself when you work out, but you don't want to hurt yourself before boot camp. Hope this helps. Also don't wear makeup the day you ship for boot camp, wear comfortable shoes, and make sure you get enough sleep because the first 48 hours you arrive is going to be intense!
Ashlie Lyon I see that it's been a year.. Have you gone to boot camp yet? Just wondering about your experience... Like you said, there's not many videos on UA-cam, from fellow female, Marines.
I really want to join but I can't because I have a disease & it pisses me off so much because there are people who are completely healthy and have no care about my country or are "too scared" to serve. My boyfriend is a Marine but it's not the same as being one...
Sarah Wagner I can't lie about it because it's an eye condition and I sometimes go blind or see things distorted. I really need my eyes and there's no cure for it, but my doctor says that it can probably heal by running its course, which varies from 2-10 years. It sucks , but if I get better, I'm definitely enlisting! I'll be the first girl in my family to join any branch if military. I might be biast, but USMC is definitely the best, hands down! I'm only 17 so I have lots of time, but this is something I really want to do and I haven't told my parents because I'm sick so they'll flip out lol. I never wear those USMC Girlfriend shirts because I don't wanna be THAT girlfriend 😂 it's nice to have pride, but showing off is never cool, ya know? It makes me feel uncomfortable lol Why be just a Marine girlfriend when you can be a Marine too? lol
Sarah Wagner It doesn't happen automatically anymore. But I struggled a lot with it in February through April of this year. Now I struggle with it less but it's still crappy ass vision lol sometimes people look like they have pear shaped heads and my vision is very foggy. I was out in steroids for 8 months, so that put me back a lot with the whole enlisting thing because I gained over 100 pounds on steroids. But I've been off for 2 months now :) I've lost 48 pounds of it so far! I'm going to keep working for it, I don't want this to be an excuse for me not to serve. I've wanted this since I was 6 years old and I feel like this is just a small obstacle at the moment lol I keep saying "if" I get better when I should be saying "when" I get better. And lol! I guess we feel uncomfortable because it's our humility :) I'm also from Texas! hehe
Enjoyed my time in the Corps 82 to 86; 0341! Spent three months with a Marine admin unit on a Naval base in Long Beach,CA. I used to workout with a WM stationed there too and she was hard core. Semper Fi Sister! You will always be a Marine!!
Can you make more videos describing your experience in the marines please? Like boot camp experience, basic training, and everyday life? I want to enter into OCS but want to have an idea of what people go through! Thank you!!
Mad respect on first being a Female Marine, and even further respect on the Advanced Swim qual! I'm an excellent swimmer but that course and I was very challenged by that course. We started with 22- 24 and ended with 5, all of our drops just stopped showing up. It takes a certain mental toughness to become on with feeling like you're drowning for a week.
From one former non-deployed, paper-pushing, POG Corporal to another. Semper Fi. Once a Marine Always a Marine, 2009-2013. I gave a lot of 'wookies' like you hard times back when I was in, maybe it's because my Sgt who happened to be a female back when I was a boot was a total shitbag bucking for a promotion and a female LCpl was constantly getting putting on meritorious boards despite having a 230 PFT and a pizza box (thank goodness she didn't win any). Not to mention seeing many negative stereotypes coming true, so my perception about female Marines was skewed from the get go. Of course there are many who defied stereotypes like the Sgt from another shop (blonde hair, blue-eyed, feminine, looks almost identical to you) who was a total badass and former FET. You seem like a good Marine and a good NCO, and someone I would've respected regardless of gender. I wish you luck on your future endeavors Devil. YUT!!
I'm a male and I'm 4 years away from bootcamp and I'm going right after highschool and I know what the guys do but is it as challenging for the female Marines?
Sarah, I actually have a dream to become a Marine Corp Infantry Officer and I know that is extremely challenging, but it is something I'm passionate about. Also, it is nice to hear someone who was part of the Marines talk about the challenges they faced. Thank you for sharing.
Tzp_Marine 1 Advanced qual is only a few times a year. The 2ndLt in charge of my section made an announcement at the end of the day, said they were taking names for whoever wanted to try. Also said if we dropped out of the course, there would be no consequences. So keep that in mind.. I would let the head of your section know. Use youe chain of command. If they question you as to why you want to do it, tell them it will make you more competitive for promotion. (Which it will). Just know that you may be waiting a few months for a class to pick up
Hi I want to join the Marines when I'm older I'm 12 now lol but I'm kinda not sure because I hate heights and I don't know if that's involved and what else do you do?
Madi Hernandez As far as boot camp goes, only a couple different scenarios pop in my head for people who are scared of heights. I'm not a fan either lol! You must complete the rappel tower.. however you are strapped in a harness so you are safe. But you have to rappel down the wall. Not sure how exactly tall it is. Second scenario is jumping off the high drive during swim qualifications. Like with the rappel tower, there are instructors there to help guide you and help :) As far as your MOS goes, just don't pick an MOS where you will be jumping out of planes or something! lol
I have a lot of respect for you. I became a Marine in 76 I wanted to be a Marine since I was 3 years old when I saw my Uncle come home from Boot Camp in that uniform. He was a body builder so he made the uniform look great on him. Becoming a Marine was the hardest thing I ever did in my life but I was going finish Boot Camp no matter what so I have a lot of respect for you becoming a Marine. The instilled something in me that I carry inside me to this day. I broke my neck in 86 and was paralyzed. They told me constantly that I would never walk again I told them they were telling that shit to the wrong person. After being paralyzed for almost 3 months I started moving my legs on my on then I started learning to walk again and let me tell you it's a lot harder learning to walk the second time in your life. I know that if I hadn't been a Marine I wouldn't be walking now. 3 months ago I broke my back in a car accident I was out of the hospital in 3 days walking around. That's what the Marine Corps did for me.
Hello Ma'am, I am currently trying to enlist in the Marine Corps. But I'm having trouble passing my asvab! But this comment is regarding bootcamp, how is it and what to do to prepare??
ivan chavez What part of the ASVAB are you having trouble passing? I went to the library and used the study guides there and that helped me a lot :) And the best piece of advice I can give you for preparing for boot camp is work on your endurance!! Run, run, and do more running! Get LOTS of rest and drink tons of water. Your body will be going through a tremendous change so be sure to take care of it. You can't really prepare mentally for it.. just know that EVERYTHING comes to an end, and no matter how tough things get, time will keep on going.
Sarah Wagner thank you for replying! I am having trouble with the math portion of the asvab, mathematics was never my friend in school so I need to do well on that to get a good AFQT. I have the asvab for dummies book and I'm also studying online with websites recommended by UA-cam videos. And thank you for the advice! I am looking forward to my journey with the Marine Corps (:
sarah is right on in the study guides . i quit high school my senior year to join the marines . about 3 years later i decided to get my ged while i was still in . i just got a prep book on studying for the ged . a couple months later i walked in for the test and scored double what i needed to to pass in every subject. it works if you are serious enough to do it .
My husband is USMC. Not once have I ever felt threatened by a female co-worker of my husband. I love all his female Marines. They are some of my greatest friends. And almost awesome women I have ever met.
You are a very interesting person, thank you; I enjoyed your video. It wasn't what I expected, it was a surprise. Proud to call you Marine; Simper Fi sister!!! p.s. you are pretty easy on the eyes... Rich Barnhart USMC 81-84
Also an Officer in the Australian Army, alot of US men mock women, because most are better soldiers. The IDF has NEVER regretted equal footing for both men and women in combat roles. Tried and tested and women are highly respected. As Sarah says, we have to continually prove ourselves, men do NOT.
Glad you served, I my self am RET 27 years Army and served assigned not attached to 2nd Marines at Camp TQ. back in the day ( those in service know the difference in assigned ,and attached duties) I think I can agree that most of what you posted is true in all services with Females but the "Wifes hating you part" thats not an automatic thing as you state depends on the wife, and depends on the Service member . But My dealing with Female Marines was in the "Sand Box" so as its a Combat arena things may be different. and this was an Infantry and Infantry support units ( most Females preformed Force Protection Duties at the camp.) But Best of things to you and yours
i was in 03-07 at pendelton, we had E-3's that were mcquiz certified. (i know i spelled that wrong) good luck as a civilian. I stayed in San Diego as a defense contractor but now im full federal.
Glad you didn't re-enlist. It would of been a waste. That's so not where you belong, and that's not a crack at the USMC or you. Go to college get your education and do wonderful things ;-)
I'll keep it real and maybe that way you'll understand. You appear to have a normal inteligent, pleasent demeanor and appear down to earth. Not a stereo typical jarhead.
A10PANG Normal intelligence? So only less intelligent people join the Marines? I'm 24 with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a certificate in financing. making about 100k a year being a manager for Nissan. Thought I accomplished a lot but I realize I want to be able to look back and have something good that I've done so I enlisted in the Marines because I actually wanted to make a difference and help people.
Congratulations Sarah and Semper Fi! ~Former 0311/8152 I didn't meet or see too many WMs when I was in but I did meet a few from the Airwing in my final year and we celebrated the Marine Corps Ball together.
Rob True show some fucking respect you condescending coward. I would be honored having her by my side any day where I would be insulted being in your presence.
Eskil Tester I think his point is that logic and evidence shows that female military personal are rarely if ever as fit for service as their male counterparts. Not from the USA, but if a soldier puts another in danger by being on duty, they shouldn't be a soldier. This isn't me being sexist. The same already goes for men.
Actually Rob, yes, God help them, because you can't survive a war without money. The military must operate as a finely crafted machine to be successful in it's mission objective and it needs accountants just as much as it needs combat soldiers. The most devastating thing one can do to one's enemy is cut off their funding. In fact I do seem to recall that at least one great empire fell in part because the government did not pay it's soldiers....want to guess which one it was?
Much respect to any person, regardless of age race or sex, that enlists in our military.
I second that and I am a salty old vet!
scott sanger you sound so fucking stupid the marines is part of the military dumbass she was in the military go read a fucking book .
scott sanger the marines is a branch in the military 🤦🏽♂️.

Female Marines have come a long way since I was in the Corps in the early 70s. I have the greatest respect for you. Semper Fi!
*tear* Thank you! Means a lot coming from an 'old corps' vet! haha
Sarah Wagner Thank you for your service Sarah. You keep your head up. Semper Fi

We vets from all branches are family. But I would love to see you do more pull ups than me. I am old Army and standards were slightly lower for females. But hats off to ya regardless and mad respect.
As long as she is not in front line infantry, she can be a marine in my opinion
As an Old Corps Marine (1971 - 1977), I would still trust you to guard my six than over 90% of the men in the world. Regardless of your MOS, you are, and will always be, a Marine and that's enough to have my respect. Semper Fi sister.

highly respected if we ever used the term BAM "broad ass Marine '" we were toast , they did there jobs very well .
There was Katy Perry's 'Part of Me' on UA-cam and that was it lmao
Not all Milsos are bad, I have a couple that are dear friends of mine.
Semiper fi sister. Thanks for serving. Especially in the corps.

Thanks for sharing your viewpoint. Best of luck in your studies.
Thank you! :)
Blessings!
Thank you for serving this great country.
I've seen a Female Marine do 30 Pull Ups. That DI could put the fear of God into you .

@@joen5091 No, they don't. Women now have to do pull ups. The policy changed a couple years ago.
@@stayathomemarineok wannabe and dose it match the mens requirements?
Marines hold a very special place in my ❤️
I personally have quite a lot of respect for female Marines. I served from 2010-2017 and lots of things happened throughout that time. While no one likes the stereotypical female Marine (we know what that entails), most that I've met had to work extra hard to prove themselves and be taken seriously. I met many throughout my career that where way better of a Marine that I ever was.
Get it, Girl !!! Served 3 years 11 months in the Army. /respect
You go girl proud of you,, 86-90 I'll never forget my time in,
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!

Grace R is he a Corpman??
I was in navy it was quite an adventure but I think I wouldn't do it again, men did treat me different since I am beautiful and a female so I totally can relate sister.
Adriana Jimenez how would you describe your experience ?.
Siel8387 .. I'm sure she meant harassment and other things am sure we know what she's talking about.
Adriana Jimenez I agree. I was in the US navy too. pretty females get treated nice especially from guys. it's no different from the civilian realm. it's all about SEX.
sex and race are instictive and part and parcel of the human nature.
Mother Nature is Mother Nature. The same force that makes men fight is the same that makes us react to women the way we do. It is what it is.
I really want to go into the marines.. Im preping myself now so that I can be the best of the best once i get to boot camp..
That is awesome to hear! If I could go back, I would of worked on my running a little more. That and my pull ups. Make sure you work on your endurance!! Good luck to you!!
Thank you!! Ill be back to ask you more questions lol But thank you so much for the advice
you would be the root cause of barracks fights in my time 😎
Too too Yeah, she's beautiful, holy crap 0_0
lol yup
to be honest, it didn't take a very attractive WM to get guys fighting over a chick.
Everyone always fights over the new gril in the unit no matter what she looks like.
Thats why MP's dont like her😂😂
I watch this and you are me 30 years later. Although be careful there will be jealousy from some who never served.
you're very inspirational thank you for posting this :)
You were never a Female Marine. You were a Marine (as am I). Did you get a lot of flack on the Homefront ?
I honestly never got any negativity from people from my hometown! Well actually, before I left for boot camp, I posted my decision on facebook and a lot of people told me I wouldn't make it. But other than that, everyone was actually pretty positive!

I'm going to boot camp this summer, thank you so much for your service and thank you for posting this video. Watching made me feel a lot better :) once a Marine, always a Marine. Semper Fi.
It's odd how some people react online. quite strange.
I'm a female marine currently in Okinawa and I've been feeling kinda down lately. I'm very glad I saw this. Thank you for your motivating words☺💖
Female Marine vet here and I’m very sorry about your last name lol...
Hi Sarah, thanks for the video and your service. :)
ok, I picked on the part about the pullups.
Congratulations M'lady
Whats funniest to me is that what you said is true for the Army too. Thank you for your service. I hope college is going well for you. Respectfully John M Thompson SFC (R) U.S. ARMY

Doug

Ashlie Lyon Good luck to you! July in Parris Island is hot as heck so hydrate your butt off before you leave!
+Sarah Wagner thank you for all the advice! I really appreciate it 😊
Ashlie Lyon I see that it's been a year..
And lol! I guess we feel uncomfortable because it's our humility :) I'm also from Texas! hehe
USS Voyager Either way, I still want to serve in the military and that's okay too.

itsnikkislife I went the enlisted route but OCS is essentially the same! Are you going to college now or do you already have a degree?
I am going to receive my B.A in Psychology this summer. do you have any advice on how to start preparing for boot camp?
Nagustin PT everyday and remember if you don't mine it don't matter
YUT!!
U r an amazing woman. I wish the best for you
I'm a male and I'm 4 years away from bootcamp and I'm going right after highschool and I know what the guys do but is it as challenging for the female Marines?
Aven Delmar yes, boot camp is the same as males
+Sarah Wagner Aren't the PFT requirements lower for females though?
Your really cute thanks for serving. Cant wait to be an Infantry Officer
Sarah, I actually have a dream to become a Marine Corp Infantry Officer and I know that is extremely challenging, but it is something I'm passionate about. Also, it is nice to hear someone who was part of the Marines talk about the challenges they faced. Thank you for sharing.
Hello little sister... I served from 87 to 92. Good video and Semper Fi..
Please post more videos talking about this topic!!
You have my respect, thank you for your service.
This video is really encouraging and helpful. Thank you for your service, Sarah, and thank you for helping fellow female Marines with this video!
How about short Marines lol they jump higher, and run twice as much.
I would love to see more videos!
Not sure If you're still active on YT but you're really smart & tough. Youll make it far in life no matter what , you got this !
How and when do you ask to go for advanced swim qual?
Like with the rappel tower, there are instructors there to help guide you and help :)
As far as your MOS goes, just don't pick an MOS where you will be jumping out of planes or something! lol
thank you so much! and 1 more question how high would the diving board be? lol
@@madihernandez9081 just don't go
Join the Young Marines until you get in .

You're a very sweet girl Sarah. Thanks for your service and posting video. I'd be proud to call you my daughter. Take care.
Bet the DIs are watching this and prob saying, “sweet soft voice”! SCREAMMMMMMM 😂😂😂
Hello Ma'am, I am currently trying to enlist in the Marine Corps. But I'm having trouble passing my asvab! But this comment is regarding bootcamp, how is it and what to do to prepare??
ivan chavez What part of the ASVAB are you having trouble passing? I went to the library and used the study guides there and that helped me a lot :)
And the best piece of advice I can give you for preparing for boot camp is work on your endurance!!
Try the Army, they'll take you
@@ivanchavez98 Marines stand for math and reading is not easy Sir ! Math sucks it was my worst subject in school as well.
As a Male fellow Marine this woman is completely correct much respect
Christopher Montoya thanks brother!!
My husband is USMC. Not once have I ever felt threatened by a female co-worker of my husband. I love all his female Marines. They are some of my greatest friends. And almost awesome women I have ever met.
I'm happy to hear you had a positive experience! Not everyone's is like that so you are blessed 😄

You are a very interesting person, thank you; I enjoyed your video. It wasn't what I expected, it was a surprise. Proud to call you Marine; Simper Fi sister!!!
p.s. you are pretty easy on the eyes...
Rich Barnhart
USMC 81-84
Capt. Rich lmao thanks brother!!
Sarah Wagner
Cool Beans! Just noticed my (new stupid) phone respelled Semper for me.
Hate this new phone...
Semper Fi!
You are an inspiration and I have a lot of respect for you. Intelligent, beautiful, and tough. Thank you for your service!
God bless you
Also an Officer in the Australian Army, alot of US men mock women, because most are better soldiers. The IDF has NEVER regretted equal footing for both men and women in combat roles. Tried and tested and women are highly respected. As Sarah says, we have to continually prove ourselves, men do NOT.
I can only imagine what you went through with that last name haha
Nicholas Neumann I got married the last year of my enlistment so it was nbd 😎
"WAGNER LOVES COCK " That was the first thing that poped into my mind when i saw that .
Maybe some of the military women who picked on others were PETTY Officers
Omg lmao!!
Absolutely amazed at every female that enlist. I hope to enlist in 2021 after I graduate technology and engineering school into the air force.
Rah
Im judging. Your adorable.
i was in 03-07 at pendelton, we had E-3's that were mcquiz certified. (i know i spelled that wrong) good luck as a civilian. I stayed in San Diego as a defense contractor but now im full federal.
Great video, my wife and I are both former Marines, Semper Fi Sarah!
Was WSQ'ed in swimming and it didn't get me much. Marine wives are fat on average. Semper fi!!
Glad you didn't re-enlist. It would of been a waste. That's so not where you belong, and that's not a crack at the USMC or you. Go to college get your education and do wonderful things ;-)
Just my impression I got of you from the video. I think you're misunderstanding what I meant. It wasn't meant as criticism believe me. :-(
I'll keep it real and maybe that way you'll understand. You appear to have a normal inteligent, pleasent demeanor and appear down to earth. Not a stereo typical jarhead.
Sarah Wagner
Aww, ya welcome. It's ok ;-) and Thank you for your reply and understanding. I know they are, I'm writing back to one now ;-) Take care.
So did I, and went into the ANG afterwards to continue flying. Sorry, If that's what you read into what I wrote. Didn't mean to strike a nerve.
Congratulations Sarah and Semper Fi! ~Former 0311/8152 I didn't meet or see too many WMs when I was in but I did meet a few from the Airwing in my final year and we celebrated the Marine Corps Ball together.
There is less women in any branch of the military my unit had 2.
Respect. Gotta be strong and gotta have brains.
So, how many more pull-ups did you do than the guys ?
God help the enemy if they piss off the Marines, blond, female accountant squad.
No Ma'am - Drill Sargent !
