  • In this adventure, we explore the Walker Creek and P.O.B. forest service roads to see what areas are accessible to explore this time of year. Whether you are interested in hiking the Humbug Ridge trail or heading into Kakwa Provincial Park (or a GDT hiker), this video will show you the current conditions in early May 2024. The P.O.B. road looks fully accessible, though rough with deep ruts and greasy in spots, you can access the Humbug Ridge Trail. The Walker Creek road was easily traveled to the 45 km point where we encountered deep snow on a dip in the road and we saw previous deep ruts from a poor soul who appeared to have been badly stuck. The Walker Road is in the best condition it has been in since 2020 as logging endeavors have brought maintenance crews to begin the process of improving the road conditions for their upcoming forestry harvesting. At the end of the video, we have great views of Erg Mountain from the Walker Road junction with Highway 16.
