- PICKED UP A 94 KAWASAKI KLX650R. VERY COOL BIKE WITH A POWERHOUSE ENGINE.. NEEDED ALOT OF TLC BUT NOTHING MAJOR.. NO ENGINE TEAR DOWNBUT NEEDED ALOT OF SMALL ITEMS FIXED OR REPLACED.. RUNNING VERY GOOD AND STRONG, WILL YANK YOUR ARMS OUT OF SOCKET!!! LOL.

Sweet bike!! Love the big bores! I have a 2001 xr650r that I bought new! Will never sell it.
Was the 2001 model liquid cooled? I knkw when the xr-r switched to liquid cooled, their engine had more tourqe and horsepower than its kawasaki counterpart but anything other than that idk how they compair. The klx650s were liquid cooled from the get go
Just bought a 98 klx650. I believe they were still selling until 2001,when they were discontinued.
Great bike well ahead of its Jap rivals being liquid cooled and USD front end. I think reliability might have been an issue with them and typical kawasaki soft suspension.though there are bikes with upward of 50,000 ks on the clock selling here in Aus.
Your right b lucky if you see them around much anymore. A real throw back to the nineties when every manufacturer had a penchant for big bore 600-650s.

Regarding your comments on starting the Honda XR600. If the decompression release is used correctly, it is easy to start. I had one for 9 years.

What happened to this bike , it was ahead of its time , but with a list of failures , why didnt kawasaki didnt fix the problems , same in the 2008 klx 450r only one year in the usa
How much is one of these things worth today in similar shape ? I have one with very low hours on it and has been well maintained, no idea of its value. 1994 klx650R with tusk dual sport kit on it.
If it's in really nice shape and you're taking care of it it's worth at least 2 to 2,500 you should easily get between 2 and 2,500 for it that's what I would shoot for
Klx 300r also with problems in the gearbox , if you fell on a side and then you tried to start the bike it was a real tiresome problem, and your leg was all blown out after 45 or 50 times !
Just wanted to comment on the bike falling over I head of 650 KLx I dropped it on the concrete right by the kickstart pushed it in slightly would not start at all found out if you put it in top gear in jiggle backwards the spring pops back out just something I remember when I was out riding one day and I seen your comment in Fort I would add to your comment

Most parts I find on ebay. . You still can get some parts through kawasaki. . Just have to hunt ebay. ..
I am picking up a 95 klx650 today. What is the difference between the klx 650R and just 650? Does your have both electric and kick start? I think the klx650 i am getting only has electric start. Can you install a kick start?
The r model is Kickstart only that is the off-road version the klx650r the version you have is the Dual Sport version which has electric start they are a little heavier because they have more items on the bike like turn signals and Speedos and all that stuff you can run them off road but they're a little heavier than the 650 r model the biggest difference between the both is one is Street version and the other is dirt so you will have a little more weight to deal with riding it Off Road
@@navyseabee7245 cool i appreciate that man. Yea cause they are identical only one has all the bells and whistles for the road. So the on road version can't have a kickstart installed?
Get rid of problems , get the xr 600 or better or the xr 650 r
