This bike will always be special, because it was my very first dirtbike, and motorcycle! Every time I ride down to the museum, I go up to the second floor to see this bike. So many memories, thanks for highlighting it.
Everything Husqvarna builds is quality and total performance .. Stihl chainsaws are top of the line right? But before you ever buy one you had better check out the Husqvarna chainsaw as I didn't and still wish today that I should have ..to try and make it sort .. It t was a rotting tree trunk I needed chopped up ..I had a brand new 310 farm boss , friend came over to help with a 20 year old husk ..my new Stile bogs down in the rotting tree trunk and is stuck in tree sap glued in ..the husky with a smaller engine and six inch longer bar carved my new farm boss out of the tree trunk in seconds and finish chopping up the tree like cutting through butter ... Oh back to bikes ..opening season at our local Moto track , I ask my old friend how many times he has done a top end on his now third season on his 250 husky he had bought brand new still riding it in the 250 A semi pro class ..he said he had never had it apart yet ! I was speechless ..my 1976 Honda Elsinore that I had bought the year before needed an overhaul of at least a first over bore ..
The memories, my dad's go to bike , I remember watching it at kenworthy's in Troy Ohio in the early 80s , hare scrambles , hill climbs , that's a mean bike for the time
Had a bunch of Husqvarna s which means" House by the river" in Swedish. Excellent bikes I could never break them . In fact they were the only company to offer a warranty on MX bikes in early 80s.
This was my favorite Husky back in the day. Of course at 18 yrs old I couldn't afford one. I can now but I'm to old to ride them now, at least the way I want to.
At 14yo I bought my first big boy bike and It was a 1979 cr125 Elsinore and how I wish I never sold that bike for 400 bucks back than to me as a kid it was a rocket only thing it needed when got it were new floats in carb and new tires that was it.
Fast...I took my (was my dad's before mine) 390 out to the desert in 2003. I raced every modern bike out there: 450's, CR250, XR650 and when you'd shift into 6th gear the Husky would just gallop away (I have 3 different primary gears for it) Gives me chills/tears just thinking about it. Next year there was a (Honda) CR500 out there. I didn't get to race it because I was riding it.
My first ever ride on a husky was in around 1996 maybe 1997 as I had just bought a new KTM 360 with lights ..it was one of the desert bikes ..Andy who sold it to me took me to a friends house they had just opened up the corn fields of about 2000 acres and this friend of Andy's ask me if I would trade rides on our bikes ..he want to ride my KTM and this guy has a new at that time 250 two stroke liquid cooled Husqvarna ....and we commenced ripping up the cornfield where they had opened up the field with the combines and I got the hold on to a 250 Husqvarna wfo for the entire area as we went at it for about a half an hour hard as they go....and when it was over I knew then I had bought the wrong bike
Kaplan got your ears on⁉️ I didn't know you raced these things back when this one was new ! I would bet you are afraid to tell us that this husky is just as fast and handles just as good as anything new for fear of loosing your credibility to today's audience ....I battled husky to no limit my whole MX years of racing . There was a husky dealership in Effingham Illinois who would come to the terre Haute competition track to play in the 25 plus class as he was about 50 ... He was on a big husky don't remember size and I passed him once for the win on a MX250 yamadog ...we had a section the was sold tree roots exposed across the track that was our whoop section that you couldn't keep your feet on the pegs no matter what ! It's the following year and I'm on a brand new all red CR250R in the root whoops and the husky dealer passes me on the pipe shifting gears superman style on a new 125 Husqvarna with both feet waving behind him and I'm like WTF kilroy ⁉️💥👀 come to find out he had built his own air shifter with a trigger and a set of automotive ignition points to short out the coil making clutch less shifting at WFO painless on the left hand side handle bar with a compression release lever right above the clutch lever ..the cylinder head compression release valve exhaust was piped into an industrial pneumatic air cylinder fastened to the gear shift lever of the little 125 husky going brap brap brap shifting gears when he blew by my new red frame while I'm still trying to find 3rd ..call him a cheat'en M/F SOB all you want but there were no AMA rules against it at that time
Husky also had their 'Desert Weapon' in the 390OR, big 'ol 510 Metzler on the back, built for Desert/Sand ops. (Here we go again) I knew a guy back then that had the 390, used to ride it at the Arcadia Sandpits in West Warwick R.I., and that bike hooked up, but I think a lot of the 'hot shoes' that raced Baja used the 390OR. Man, all the Huskys and Ossas and CZ's...one guy had a Bultaco Pursang...just about every bike you show I've either seen, ridden or owned...not to mention wrenched...
Love the huskys, if you haven't had the chance get ahold of an OR model, bottom three gears from We, top three from CR. I've had two and was just amazed by the versatility. Both mine were 390s
Ha, I had one exactly like it in 1980! Mine had some port work and a pair of Fox airshox. At the time my local track (Canyon raceway in north phx) would combine the 250 and open classes as there weren't enough riders to have separate motos. Me then at 135 lbs on my husky could holeshot any 250 or open bike. But then someone finally showed up with a new YZ465 and almost blew me off my bike with his roost..
2nd comment. Buddy had a yz400 & our other rich kid friend had brand new cr 250.racing on the logging roads,my husky would eat both the other bikes!big tine eat!
It was in the early 1970's I had just bought my 1st real dirt bike a used and abused 1972 yamadog MX360 kid killer and after learning how to stop doing unwanted back flips and forward endos .one of the Sunday coal mine strip pit riders tells me " you ain't so bad on that thing since you bought , come with me to the terre haute competition rider's track and I'll show you how to motocross " this turned out to be quite a fiasco. I do not recommend a beginner motocross racer to ever start out in the open class.. and back then I was battling husqvarna's , Maico's ,TM400’s , CR250M(the game changer) ,the "BULL", 360 El Bandito, Ossa, (I'm getting carried away again) to make a long short . Three years later I ask Terry who had got me hooked on MX how many times he had done a top end on the husky he was still riding back when I first met him at the strip mines we rode the trails and hills ..as his 250 husky was new and three years later he is still motocrossing it in the 250A and open A semi pro class ..and back then we rode three Motos per class and there was no AMA rule riding 250cc in the open class ...so after asking terry if he was no a first or 2nd oversize bore yet ...Terry's answer : he has never even taken the head off to look and see if there was any wear !!!!!!!👍👀⚡🔥💥 And his what was new three years of mud coal dust wheelies in fifth gear down the haul road at the mine . Many first over all moto victories and plenty of mud blood and beer and Terry has never broken the factory seal as his husky was totally bone stock three years later ...while I was on my third new bike ...I can go on about unbelievable husky stories untill the brrappling kows come home and they can't beat or out last a Husqvarna either of or hands down as I have lived it .. check out the most rare dirt bikes ever made and est. Value today ..want a blueprint for an ass kicking machine .. got one ! www.dirtlegal.com/blog/2019/12-rarest-dirt-bikes-of-all-time
Man had a 77 WR 250 when I was fourteen I would hold it wide open in the grass next to the parkway passing cars with a sod rooster tail like it was normal 🤦♂️
This bike will always be special, because it was my very first dirtbike, and motorcycle! Every time I ride down to the museum, I go up to the second floor to see this bike. So many memories, thanks for highlighting it.
outstanding looking and performing machine , Husky really set the bar high when they produced these machines.

Had a 76 & 78. identical to mine back in the day! Memories brother!
Had a bunch of Husqvarna s which means" House by the river" in Swedish.

I had a 79’ Husky CR 125, with a blue mirrored tank. Great time to ride!
When I was a kid I loved the Huskys! Still look great
Had a "75" CR250, great bike!
At 14yo I bought my first big boy bike and It was a 1979 cr125 Elsinore and how I wish I never sold that bike for 400 bucks back than to me as a kid it was a rocket only thing it needed when got it were new floats in carb and new tires that was it.
More fond memories of my youth here.
Love the leg-out wheelie! Ballsey!!...BRRAAAAAAP!!!!😎
Raced that same bike when it was it was brand new……Such a magnificent motorcycle 👊
Right side drive , left side kick start , grrrr , very nice husq ✌️
Gorgeous... reminds me of 125's and 250s motors we used on racing go-karts back in the 80's... 🏎️💨💨💨
Nice one KAP!!. Your bikes are awesome. My last Moto X bike was a KTM 500, 1987. Like your video's. Mark Ryland Worcester England.

Loved my 390. I later had a Yamaha YZ400F and hated how it handled compared to the husky.
@@johngaulding3710 my brother had one of those. We thought the Husky handled well too (still have it)
Sweet I had the 82 WXC250 gold and black,it was a work of art, wish I would have kept it!!!
Just something about a husky it's a thing of beauty
The Norsemen we're and are grand craftsmen....these old swedes are arguably the pinnacle of air cooled perfection. Beautiful example, magazine fresh.

Good enough for Steve “Bullet” McQueen
Beautiful and sounds great! Did you know Dick Burrelson won 3 years in a row, either in motocross or enduros?

Love the huskys, if you haven't had the chance get ahold of an OR model, bottom three gears from We, top three from CR. I've had two and was just amazed by the versatility. Both mine were 390s

Hi , is this husky for sale?
Www.kaplancycles.com yes
@@KaplanCycles is it listed on your eBay page ?
How did Honda and husky name a mx bike the same model name always wondered did Honda buy the model name cr from husky 🤔
Some dude is selling a few for 2k each in billings for 2500
2500 foe it
So nice, It looks fake!
Hell no there on showroom floors
Looks like allot of low production hand machined, and welded parts.
And original tires!
Cracks me up when people can't pronounce the name correctly
Not by a long shot
