Godzilla VS Hedorah (The Smog Monster) might be the most eco horror movie in that series. It's wild too. Mass death, psychedelic dancing girls, animation. It might be the craziest anti-polution PSA you'll ever see!

Really loved The Host and The Beach House as eco-horror movies!

The Bay was one that really got to me because of the gore and it felt very much grounded in reality as well.

Another kinda goofy one but one that surprised me a little is Day of the Animals from 1977. It's really low budget but it's got Leslie Nielsen playing an asshole tourist so bonus points. Anyways, the basic plot is that humans have destroyed the Ozone layer so much that without that protection all the animals basically go crazy and start attacking people. It's got a bit of the corporate aspects to it as well. It really made me wonder about if/when nature has been terrorized by us so much that they would turn on us easily. There is also Alligator but I can't remember if that one is eco or if it's just a giant alligator but it's a great flick! It's more of a horror-comedy though.

    Great list!!! As usual :)
Have you seen Gaia? It's more a message about how humans are subject to nature overall and our hubris in thinking we can control it. I found it chilling.

Ooo I need to see The Host. That looks wild! And have you seen any spider horror movies? I was shocked to learn they’re considered eco horror! I did a video last week on the topic. Love seeing your eco horror recs. The Birds is a classic!!

I've still yet to see The Ruins but have heard so many things. Also wanting a Godzilla marathon this weekend hehe. Recently watched Creature From The Black Lagoon and have always loved Gill Man getting revenge.
The Happening, I liked when it first came out, before the internet ruined it for me. The premise is fascinating.
    Awesome list!

Also great options: The Bay, Phase IV, just about every animal horror/jaws ripoff I can think of, In The Earth, you could also argue mother! Is eco-horror 😆

Creature From the Black Lagoon has been my favorite Universal monster since I was a little girl and it would run on Saturday afternoon tv a lot. The Host is a newer favorite. I loved that movie far more than I expected to! Good list!

Great pics! The Birds is my favourite Hitchcock. Love The Ruins and Crawl. There’s a classic Australian film called Long Weekend that’s like this strange creepy eco-horror, like if Lynch made The Birds or something haha I dunno how to describe it. But I do like it! Worth a look.

Right on, wouldn't have guessed Creature from the Black Lagoon your fave. Solid POV and picks, Touche. Along the lines of Godzilla, would say THEM & The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms.Night of The Lepus lol.

I feel like no eco-horror film has affected me as much as the ending section to the David Mitchell book, The Bone Clocks. The year is 2043, and all of the things scientists have been warning us about right now have come true. It's not a spoiler to say that the future depicted in the book is B L E A K. A close second would be the British film Threads from 1984, about a post-nuclear-war UK. If you do watch Threads, make sure to schedule something happy afterward.

Alfred Hitchcock The Birds wasn't that scary.
