      You should always be aware of your surroundings and the atmosphere of the room and spirits of those your about to face, if you see in your minds eye that something is off then its your choice to call it out , but if you think its beneficial for the team even if short term to remain silent then its on you , but such is the way of our deceitful world now , blurred is the path between black and white, and its smoothed over as a joke again and again. But its all good because someone learned something, yeah they got a first hand lesson in ninjitsu, or worse..

    Nice to see how everyone was very humble around you despite maybe being a bit surprised at how skillful the "white belt" is. I'm a blue belt myself, and I'm super fortunate to train in an academy where the head coach always creates such a positive learning environment. Despite that, I've seen my fair share of high ranking white belts or blue belts who let their ego get the best of them. One white belt actually hyperextended the new guy's arm out of frustration that the new guy was able to deflect all his previous submissions attempts
    From what I gathered in my years of training (nothing compared to the black belts of course), yes you can have better technique and more experience, but that doesn't guarantee that you'll be dominant during a fight. Even without any martial arts experience, the new guy can be good based on a naturally fast reaction time, being a fast learner, physically taller and heavier etc. In addition to partnering with higher ranking belts to learn technical skills better, I also found it really helpful to work with the white belts that give me a hard time, because I can work on my weaknesses and solidify my knowledge by teaching them stuff. And just a bonus, try to use an advantage you have that most of your teammates can't do (mine is doing the oversplits), it may help you out during a crucial point of the fight
    Basically, no matter what rank you're in right now, stay humble and be open to learning from anyone. When a lower ranking belt gives you a hard time, instead of getting angry, take it as an opportunity to better your skills. Who knows, you might learn something from the new guy in terms of fighting strategies

    • @JustMe-vz3wd
      @JustMe-vz3wd 2 роки тому +3

      Good point and so true. Many ppl avoid training with white belt or just dont take it seriously. And if somethong goes wrong, its always the fault of the white belt!
      I learned things i ONLY could learn with beginners, that is, to really adapt to "mistakes" the beginner makes, and suddenly, magic magic, once tuned into the beginners mind, a great practise.
      Dont patronize beginners, or try to "teach" them, just learnfrom their beginners mind and attitude.

    • @mht4908
      @mht4908 2 роки тому +2

      @@JustMe-vz3wd Exactly, I really like rolling with white belts that are much taller and heavier than me, because I know in the real world, people don't play by the rules in street fights. Combat wise, I find that they can attack/defend with an outside of the box method, so sometimes I can end up learning something from them that I may never encounter from seasoned BJJ veterans

    Props to the dude at 5:32 for complimenting the “white belt” at the cost of his own ego - takes a certain maturity to do that without making excuses
    Separately: It’s neat how you can “feel” that a person is experienced or skilled within seconds of a role…
    I know “game recognizes game” in all sports but it’s an extra cool experience in BJJ because it’s happening to ur body, as opposed to just being observed: 8:24

    Its the little things that gives him away, yea… like that insane guard retention 👀 and that bolo sweep, i know your videos are awsome Jordan but i did not know that you had a hyperbolic time chamber program in there. Great vid btw, this is a format i love, gj with your edits too, they have improved a lot

    This was a very funny and super cool video. That was a clever lesson to teach your students. Even though BJJ isn't for me, ( I tried it out for about 4 months), I really enjoyed watching this. The reaction from your students was priceless!

    Curious on this. I *should* get my brown this year if all goes well, maybe, who knows...keep training hard. Yet I only state that because I've developed a sense for how people feel when rolling with them, especially in an unfamiliar open mat where it's NoGi and you have no idea what belt levels folks are. WIthin 30 seconds it's super apparent if someone is skilled, not skilled, or incredibly skilled. Did you intentionally go full white belt (super tense, kill kill kill) or did you just sort of give up positions etc? Oh wait, just watched the vid nevermind. LOL

    It's all fun and games until someone does this at a tournament. In one of my white belt tournaments, I faced a Judo black belt. Yeah, those skills transfer bro. He tapped everyone except me in under 10 seconds. It took him 3 minutes to get me. Everyone knew.
