In ancient times, Nalanda was a globally recognised university that boasted of 2,000 teachers and more than 10,000 students. By reviving Nalanda's old glory, India is declaring its intention to become a global learning hub. But can India achieve its dream without creating a robust domestic system first? I AM FROM NALANDA AND HAVE VISITED NALANDA RUINS SEVERAL TIMES. I always get mesmerized seeing the remains of the past glory , hopeful that in near future those moments can be relived.
Palki said Nalanda Mahavihara had 2000 teachers and 10000 students. These stats are nothing but exaggerations. Also questionable are claims that teachers and students came from Japan and Central Asia. The only foreign students were from Tibet, China and Korea. Most teachers were Indian and some of the foreign students may’ve become teachers too.

Sure Chinese travellers had visited Nalanda and become monks/teachers but who told you that people from Korea, Japan, Philippines & Vietnam had also visited? FYKI, no countries existed at that time with those names! May be they all belonged to the same geographical area which Archaeologists call as China!
Finally, just out of curiosity, I really wonder how the hell people travelled 1000s of KMs (individually or in small groups) without putting their own lives at risk!
@@rajupatnaik7776 there is a museum beside nalanda university have you ever wondered to visit there? and who told you that these countries dosen't existed ... fool do you even know history ,,, talking about the 10-20% statictics its mentioned in the nalanda univerisity website or even when you visit the site itself. you want proof many villages that surrounds nalanda has found some sort of structures undearneath there houses even in 1998 a village at a distance of some 15km found statues and chambers that were part of nalanda ruins there are still mounts around nalanda ruins that have been left as it is. goverment stopped the excavation because it was not possible to excavate this much huge area bcz of settlements. go educate yourself first then come blabering utter shit.
Now I want a few things>--
1. Creating a separate entrance exam all over the world to attract good minds
2. Choosing top notch Indian and asian professors
3. concentrating funds and gurukul education system to create a unique campus and education for students and professors
4. Festivals and fests with Indian touch for foreign and Indian students
5. Also a team must be set to find remains of our lost library of ancient Nalanda.....
Aslo Indian government can revive all of the ancient universities like VikramShila and others and then conduct a separate entrance exam to get admission in all these universities.

A small correction NALANDA university (around 1500-1600 years old) is older than Islam but younger than Chrisitianity which is around 2000 years old which even came to India around 52 A.D via St. Thomas the apostle of Christ. Having said that really proud of our ancient cultural heritages such Nalanda & Taxila universities

It started under the tutelage of Prof Amartya Sen and the stone was laid by APJ Abdul Kalam in 2010 and has been functional since almost a decade.

Amartya sen was appointed by manmohan Singh and he sabotaged the project.
This project was recommended by Abdul Kalam, started by NDA govt (Atal and Nitish Kumar), UPA govt sabotaged it by appointing hinduphobes like Amartya Sen.
Now that NDA is back since 2014, major work has been done now. UPA and Amartya Sen only delayed it by 10 years.

Hinduism was already ancient when Buddhism emerged from the existing Hindu society. Nalanda and Taxila were significantly influenced by Greco-Buddhist and Kushan-Buddhist traditions. As a Sri Lankan Buddhist well versed in Buddhist history, I view the melding of those philosophical traditions as part of our own shared Hindu and Buddhist religious heritage. There is no conflict here between Hinduism and Buddhism ... it is a continuum of shared philosophical development and learning.

A great news for India . Ancient India was a knowledge superpower that is reviving. Kudos to PM Modi and late APJ for initiating action. A marauding group of Invaders led by the Afghan -turk military Chief Bakhtiyar Kilji destroyed the university in the 1190s.

Today I visited the Taj Mahal and got to know of our lost heritages, many more temples and forts destroyed and looted, seeing the revival of such a rich heritage site which is cultural significant really amazes me and tells me that india is on its path to reestablish its once lost glory
