    The minute the game ended, first thing on my mind was “I can’t wait for the QB School to do a video on this” because the at boy put on a near masterclass. Still missed some throws, and a couple throws, if you wanna be nitpicky, could result in bigger plays with better ball placement. But overall, Lamar was brilliant with all the pressure of being down 10 three different times.

    Observation:
    Lamar came into the league as a thrower… Make no mistake he could always throw.
    Now he’s become a good passer.
    I am slightly biased, because I am a Ravens fan.
    Watching him up close, seeing many practices, seeing him “live” numerous times. For those who haven’t, the television can’t quite capture his speed… it’s DIFFERENT real time.
    Nonetheless, he is more than capable as a passer.
    He’s become a better quarterback as well.. and in a nuanced way, his ability to make line adjustments, and manage the game, and lead the offense.
    As a general fan of the game, I’ll curb my enthusiasm, when it comes to the narrative of dual threat quarterbacks, and winning… which are for the most part myths…
    Because a true dual threat has never won a SB, (MUCH SMALLER sample size) doesn’t correlate to them not having good great careers, many of the few, have played a decade or more.
    In this modern era, I can see Lamar play 15 seasons easy.

      It’s also an unfair argument people use. The NFL quite literally tried to ban these guys all the way up to Lamar. Also if you make a championship game cmon now at that point it’s sold you can win with a dual threat.

      Roger Staubach, Bob Griese, Fran Tarketon, Jeff Hostedler, Steve Young, Russell Wilson, Elway (even when old did run even in the SB to win) and yes Mahomes because he had to run in order for them to win - are all SB winning qbs and all but 2 are in the HOF. You just have to rely on instinct and athleticism in the moment, and that's where this whole squad gets really dangerous

    • @nate2826
      @nate2826 22 години тому

      So, the defender cut and made the stop against Zay as soon as he noticed Lamar making the throw to Zay. While it is *possible* you could make a really tight back shoulder throw, if Lamar throws it to Bateman there 29 never goes up the field and likely jumps the route. He's just very fast so when you see 29 there at the end of the play it seems like he was there the whole time and that Bateman was wide open. But he was with Bateman every second until Lamar started his throw.
      Lamar maybe could have pumped faked to Zay and then thrown to Bateman but the pocket was pretty tight, so not sure he'd have the time.

      He might do Goff given the record ... but tbh I think that tape will be a bit boring. Don't get me wrong-Goff had an awesome game: he had two incredible throws (the spin throw esp. was crazy) and got the ball to the right guys ... but, for the most part, he threw really short passes. His average air yards per attempt was 4.9 ... which is low but not crazy low ... until you realize he completed 100% of his passes. (Obviously an incomplete pass counts as a "0" for that stat.) The fact that he could do what he did is impressive-let's be clear. Even if he were JUST throwing it at the line of scrimmage, 100% completion is awesome. But idk how interesting the tape would be.

    I really appreciate you and what you do. I respect the hard work , effort and time that goes into what you do. However I got to say something about this cus at some point these false narratives that were put out during LJ8s draft process has to end. And instead of people just admitting that they were wrong, they would rather act like they were right the entire time it's just that LJ8 has improved in that specific area or areas. Now dont get me wrong of course he has gotten better at the position, all the greats do so why wouldn't he? But Lamar has never had these false accuracy issues that people continue to say he has gotten better with. I actually watched him in college live in real time and yes he was mobile but only when he needed to be but he was consistent as hell from the pocket. What Lj8 is doing now, he did in college. The biggest improvement he made was understanding the gift he got and how his ability influence the game and actually crush defenses souls and when to combine it all. His accuracy, touch, and timing was always there, the WRs, and scheme wasnt there

Do you think that’s just because he’s Lamar and they expect him to just create a highlight play buying time? I don’t understand it… it cost us the Chiefs game last year in the championship game… there were so many slow developing routes under heavy pressure 😒. I know he can still do it but I would prefer he have SOMETHING to check to occasionally. It’s fine when it works but I feel like it will be an issue again at some point. Also I don’t know why they don’t waggle or roll him out more. I feel like there is so much he could do out of a roll out that it would be near unstoppable and buy him the time he needs with the issues we have had on the right side of the line. Great vid tho’

      He absolutely criticizes Purdy? You're not listening if you think otherwise. Go to the analyses of Purdy last year and you'll absolutely hear him criticize Purdy for (1) turning down deep shot opportunities, (2) occasionally having uncharacteristically bad footwork. He even did an analysis of Aiyuk in the Super Bowl where he concluded that Purdy bizarrely turning Aiyuk down-esp. in the first half, IIRC-was the reason the 49ers weren't using him to his full potential.

    • @DanielFolsom
      @DanielFolsom 9 годин тому +1

      @@Jruemac15 I haven't seen a Stroud analysis in a while, so I'd have to go and check. I'd also say a poor play design and poor running by the WR (assuming it's pre-throw) don't turn a bad decision into a good decision. But I mean we can be straight up about Jackson: Jackson is, imo, the best dual-threat QB in the league-I'd even say he's the best throwing dual-threat QB in the league, though I know some people would say Allen, but that gets odd for me because Allen is just not a dual threat QB in the same way that Jackson is. Now, if Jackson weren't a mobile QB, would he rank among the league's best passers? I think it's fair to say no-he might be top 15, but he's not a top 5 pocket passer. And most of JT's videos are focused on the pocket passer perspective: he might occasionally say "it'd be nice to have someone a bit more slippery at QB here so they can extend the play" ... but for the most part he's not going to get on QBs for failing to do any of the incredible things Lamar can do with his feet, simply because that's not his perspective. Conversely, when Lamar does miss a throw now and then, he'll note that, just because, again, he's coming from a pocket passer perspective. But I'm a big Lamar fan and I've been a Patron for some time now-you can go back and watch the old videos if you want to double check me, but if not just trust me when I say JT is definitely a Lamar fan.

    the beauty if Lamar’s game is the integration of passing with godlike athleticism. throwing with planted feet in a clean pocket, sure, that’s very useful. but lamar’s skill and athleticism increase the chance of a good completion. think of it like this. during a play, there are only so many brief sections of time when a qb can make a completion. he needs an open man, vision to see it, time to react to the opening, and time to make the actual throw. eluding defenders and being able to pull the trigger on a throw quickly and at almost any time, that greatly increases the probability of a completion. some of lamar’s throws are inaccurate, but watch the plays. he is sometimes making throws that most other qbs can’t. that is, a lot of his misses are in suboptimal throwing circumstances. that said, he has the occasional whiff pass.

    • @TheHeadincharge
      @TheHeadincharge День тому +1

      Sure, but that ability to throw with feet planted in a clean pocket is vital for post season success and reliable QB play, that’s why he’s struggled to win in the playoffs thus far. It’s ok to acknowledge the flaws of a player.
