Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (But At What Cost?)
God i feel you. It stab my heart so hard.
🤣🤣🤣
This somehow made the song sound like it's about this group of friends rapidly escalating into addiction...
They know their partying got too out of hand and now all they want to do every day after work is get wasted, unable to stop while their parents cry for them to get their lives together and just please stay safe at home for once. Sheesh.
It's less like Cyndi Lauper's original and more like K's Choice - Not An Addict.
And there are more than a few hints of Lana Del Ray as well.
"Girls just wanna have fun, bro.
Don't ruin this for them.
Let girls do what the girl does."
- Sophocles
Sophocles nutts.
Thanks for clarifying, I always thought it was Euripides who said that.
I heard once that Cindi Lauper originally wanted to do the song as a sad ballad like this and covers like this really convince me me that's what it was written to be
Check the original by Robert Hazard (sans pinnacle). I wouldn't say it's sad, but definitely angrier than the one we are used to.
I would like to think that this cover, like pretty much every cover MelodicaBros do, would be adored by the original artist(s). It just works.
Are you saying the original is not sad?
This is the hazardous pinnacle of sad covers. It feels good in a way I can't describe.
When your friends cant come to a girls night.
this version should be perfect as soundtrack of an indie movie with nostalgic vibes (and I love it!) 🖤🖤🖤
we should call the movie. Hazardous Pinnacle.
@@adamclark9552the video looks like it came from a indie movie too...
It's gonna be my fav cult 😎🎬
I loved it so much! I reposted the link to Cyndi Lauper herself because you all did amazing. ❤
Oh
my
god
please let her have fun
Haphazard pickle.
I mean, Hazmat Pinocchio!
Hazing Piccadilly?
Hassle-free picadillo?
No wait! Hazlenut pickled onion! That's the one!
Hasselhoff Pinochle?
wat
Hastur is pitiful!
Very nice reinterpretation, and always cool to see you featuring talented guest vocalists as you push over the hazardous pinnacle of your own popularity.
What is brilliant in all your covers is chord transposition. Always a new and surprising color to the song, soooo amazing !
The Melodicka Bros are usually the positive counterexample I use when criticizing bad cover versions that either don't understand the original, or fail to understand how to properly transpose it to the style they're going for with their new version. Recent example: Ofenbach's "Overdrive", which recycles the tune of Kim Wilde's "Cambodia", but despite their stated intention, it's still a sad melody that doesn't fit the new lyrics. Basically, your run-of-the-mill "I'm a lazy hack who just wants to cash in on an existing tune with my own, shitty lyrics, but I don't understand what makes the original version work so I'm shooting myself in the foot in the process."
Meanwhile, the Melodicka Bros know exactly what they're doing. They know how to adjust the way a song sounds to match the style they're going for, while still keeping the melody recognizable. It's the difference between deliberately going for an absurdly unfitting style for the sake of it (i.e. Melodicka Bros) or just being so musically illiterate that the "new" song simply doesn't work because of the ill-fitting use of an existing melody (i.e. 99% of today's "hits" on the radio).
If it were up to me, I'd like to hear more Melodicka Bros covers on the radio instead of the umphtiest popsong that recycles the melody of "Blue (Da Ba Dee)", "Popcorn" or any of the craptacular dance covers of songs like "Smells Like Teen Spirit" or "In the End".
Hazardous pinnacle to begin with.
And Elena fit this sooo well. Good match.
And the solo at 2:34
Epic
I'm standing on a hazardous pinnacle of musical enjoyment, looking out over the rich, nuanced world this song created, not even wondering how to get down yet because it'll take some time to properly appreciate all the details here. It's sad, but there's a clever self-awareness in it that really makes it work!
how hazardous is the way to the pinnacle of covers.
That was... a hazardous pinnacle!
Elena pazzesca! Meravigliosa cover 🙏
Yep. I wouldn't thought it possible, but she manages a downbeat version of Cindi's emphatic/manic vocal style. Great job Elena!
Hazardous Pinnacle reached!
I grew up on Cyndi Lauper. Love what you all did here :)
Perched atop the hazardous pinnacle, she gazed at the world below, daring to conquer fear. Each step a triumph, each moment a testament to her bravery.
This is a prime example of major vs minor as well overall tone. If the tone changes, so does the meaning. This is actually a beautiful version of the song in basically making it sound like this is what happened "after" the original song. Awesome stuff 😎 🎸 🎶
Honestly, the closest Elena came to a hazardous pinnacle was the swings ride--and that was, what, half a meter from the ground? This was very good, though. Excellent choice for lead vocalist, very evocative background, lovely acoustic work. All around, kudos.
It's incredible how you guys can take a cute and fun song and make it so beautiful and sad. The knowledge you guys have of music mixed with this level of creativity always make me amazed. I am proud to be a fan!
this was really lovely, well done everyone involved!
hazardous pinnacle? excellent pinnacle!
hazardous pinnacle
You are incredible
Truly incredible person
Amazing. Also this hit hard. Good example of how deep some of those lyrics we never thought about are.
the voyage to the hazardous pinnacle always makes me want to dance
This worked surprisingly well for such a hazardous pinnacle.
This song would have been a great theme for the scene where Thelma and Louise thunders ovee the ground in their car, towards that hazardous pinnacle!
Another great one. Girls should have fun with this on the dance floor-
It may be a hazardous guess, but this may be a new pinnacle of the changed mood covers.
Well done
I mean, the song is kind of depressing! Why is this girl constantly getting berated by her parents? (Also, for some reason Elena's hat reminded me of Les Miserables, only, with the video treatment, kind of like...Eponine, but in the 80s. Love it. Perfect vibes. The key changes are *chef's kiss*. Truly reached a hazardous pinnacle of covers that make me mull on alternate-universes where it was was the original and on a soundtrack somewhere.)
love this as a sad song, it changes the meaning behind it quite a bit, it went from a lets party song, to I haven't had fun in a while, I just wanna have fun and im not so im sad
I enjoy the arrangement, it's so familiar yet takes surprising new turns. Robert Hazards original version is pretty awesome as well, recommend anyone who haven't heard that to take a listen and appreciate how this song is great in every style it's recorded in. Also Hazardous Pinnacle.
Great job, guys! Sounds and looks wonderful! Hazardous pinnacle!
Excellent cover, makes me want to play Hazardous Pinochle.
1:00 that would be a great wallpaper
Bella Ancona! E bravi voi!
This most Fantastical cover took me to a Hazardous Pinnacle of Emotion 😊
This is the soundtrack of girls, when they've had a lot of fun, but now... well the good boys must know!
When you live far away from your girl friends for some reason and you just want to have fun but you feel so alone and contemplate whether it's all worth it. 🥲
Loved this version! It's like a cross between Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and Seasons in the Sun.
The song is lovely and getting more and more depressing with each listen... so, a success!
@3:52 That's so risky to be giving the best moment of your exclusive livestreams away! Like some sort of hazardous pinnacle
Doesn't really strike me as sad. But, man, that singer was killing it!
you have reached the azardous pinnacle ! 🤣Fantastic cover, as always !
This song really was the hazardous pinnacle!
The pinnacle of hazardous covers

This is the hazardous pinnacle of 80's pop covers.

It works. It really works. Hazardous pinnacle it is!
After 40 years from its release, you can only agree with this mood. Even if you are male. Great work guys.
When you remember how the last time you went out with your friends, a tragic accident happened where you lost them all and now youre contemplating why did you invited them out that day.
Wow🎉🎉 you took one of my fav 80’s songs and made it INCREDIBLE!!!🥰 this is my new fav version!!! Thank you for this and all you do!!! Soooo much talent all of you!!!!🙏Hazardous Pinnacle!
Sounds like a rebellious teen girl wanting to escape her toxic family

I enjoyed this! I don't feel it was sad so much as dark. It reminds me of when we played Hazardous Pinnacle one Saturday night. No one won.
As always enjoyable for eyes and ears. Hazardous pinnacle!
This reminds my of sad days playing Hazard Pinochle.
You know, I did not expect to find a song that is such a hazardous pinnacle of musical work today but I am glad I did
Oh this is giving me such "Don't look now" vibes but in the very best way . Not just the video but how you've arranged the song and her voice is stunning!! 💖💖

OK I'm game...hazardous pinnacle guys!
That was the hazardous pinnacle of Cindy Lauper's covers.
Bloody genius
I don't think I ever felt it was a happy song. So you corrected it I guess :)
We've had a criterion to tell if the singer is a native English speaker every day - if you can tell the words, they aren't. After all these years, I finally can discern the words of the song.
PS: Hazardous Pinnacle
¡son unos maestros! ¡Muchas gracias por compartir su trabjao con todos los que no podemos ser patreons!
Beautiful cover. Oh hazardous pinnacle
Amazing cover, loved the ambient it gives.
hazardous pinnacle for the win!
