Hey man, huge thanks for putting this video together. I've been on the fence about gambling the $ on this ever since I saw it on wish. This video makes it seem like way less of a gamble, and I'm gonna go ahead and pull the trigger.
I have one of theese, or two to be precise. First one lost speedo, language started to flip to others, units to. Bought a replacement, worked for a while, and now that one does not show rpm anymore. One of the oil pressure senders started to leak on the exhaust. Was lucky and there was no fire... Now the second one dont show rpm... Checked signal with oscilloscope, and it is fine. Ripping it all out right now, going for a real dashlogger as it is a track racecar, and i dont want things that i cannot trust. Maybe i have had bad luck with 2 of those, maybe not.
I I have a XJ JEEP 2.5 TD, for the knowledge that you have with engines, I can install a panel of these on it. My PANEL presents the problem of NO BUSS and in Brazil no one can solve this. So I installed a mechanical injection pump in JEEP and it works normally but I do not have panel reading. I'm waiting for a light at the end of the tunnel because I've been walking without knowing how the temperature and speed measures. thankful
Ecocerrado Resíduos I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. You might need adapters to install the sensors in the engine. But it’s separate from anything operating the engine, so it should work fine to give you the engine information you need as any other gauge would.
CRC Auto Sales LLC I’ve upgraded the race car to the DO909 unit. While I was using this unit, I had an issue with the display and Sinco Tech quickly sent me a replacement and it worked great until I upgraded. I plan on putting this unit into another vehicle this summer.
Do they recommend a specific O2 sensor or give you parameters of what to look for? And is that part calibratable as well? Thinking if I put a wideband O2 in there I will want to make sure it's accurate. I also meant to ask where you bought it? Any places you've seen it priced well lately? I'm in Canada also.
The unit only calls for a narrow band O2 sensor. It only has a single wire lead for it so I don't think a wide band would work. Pretty much any OEM O2 sensor will do the job. Rockauto seems to have the best prices. cheers
Hey - thanks for putting this video together! I have a few questions - hope you can help? You went through the speedo calibration routine. Can you also calibrate the water temp and/or oil temp and/or EGT temps? Is there a calibration for pressures as well? When you scroll through the parameters at the bottom, is there a way to change the selections as in substitute some for others? ie can you change the list to include RPMs/Oil temp/Oil pressure/water temps? Have you seen a way to set any 'alarms' for parameters? As in if oil temp goes above a certain level or something? Last - how easy is it to read the dash when the car is outside on a sunny day?
You don't have to calibrate any of the temps/pressures. The unit comes with all the sensors. I compared the temp sensors using a few gauges in some hot water and were all roughly the same. I also have a set of mechanical gauges mounted under the hood, in case i ever need to question the dash, I can compare the readings. I do not believe there is a way change the bottom read out to display a gauge reading. I would prefer if that was an option. It would be much easier to read while in a race. The only alarms that the unit allows you to set are for RPM and Speed. I haven't been able to figure out what type of alarm yet. I have tried to set them. They don't change to color of the screen, or flash. I'm assuming its an audible alarm that I cannot hear during race conditions. The display seems very easy to read during any type of day. I haven't used it in the dark yet, but during day light it is great and clear with no glare. cheers and sorry for the late response.
Did you ever find a way to change what is displayed on the data strip at the bottom of the dash? I've seen videos online of similar looking units that allow you to have oil temp or pressure display down there. Wondering if maybe this is a feature of the lower 903/904 models but not the 908?
I ended up replacing this particular unit with an upgraded unit from Sinco-Tech. To that point it was still working fine. I still have the unit and plan on sticking in another vehicle in the near future. I'd be confident in it holding up in a time attack car.
Hello .. I have a question if my engine does not give the speedo signal it won’t work but it could be possible if I get a gps speedo and use it to give the signal to sinco tech unit? Thanks
I don’t see why not. The instructions do not go into detail about what is needed for signal input. My assumption is that when you configure it, it reads either the pulse or voltage and calculates accordingly. I thought about a gps speed sensor as well and feel like it might be the most reliable option.
tommi6 I still have the unit in the car. When the engine is in neutral, there is a slight delay in the tach if I crack the throttle. But when under load in driving conditions it works fine and matches the engine. This engine revs really fast. So when the car is in neutral I haven’t had a tach that keeps up. But I have only used cheap tachs!!!
There are extra input ports on the unit that aren’t used. However no where are they labeled as to what they might be able to be used for. On the screen itself, there is no display for fuel level.
GeneralG40 I’ve been able to use it in pretty much every condition, and is easily readable no matter the lighting. It does have a wire to hook it up to the dimmer for interior lights.
Ahmed R there is a delay in the RPM when there is no load on the engine. This engine revs extremely fast when there is no load. No tach I have had can react fast enough to the unloaded engine. (Not that I have used any real high priced tachs). But under driving conditions it works perfectly fine.
Yes, I could have been a been a little more clear on that. I just used a stock replacement sensor for a 93 GMC Sierra with a 5.7L I used the 3 wire sensor with the heater built in. I remember it being less then $20 on RockAuto.
Understandable. But that only happens when there is no load on the engine. And this engine revs faster then most. I haven’t had a tach that will keep up to the unloaded engine yet. Under actual driving conditions it works good. Now the fact that the language has recently stuck itself in Chinese and freezes when ever I try to change it, may be reason enough to avoid it. Hahahah
@@AcanthaSlaysMyAss well i have a apexi AVCR and was looking for something more dash friendly and precise and fast response and i was thinking about this one but i dont think it reacts as fast hehe, my engine revs fast also , ill have to get the expensive ones i guess :(
Thejonsson142 I haven’t tried to do anything with the speedo since this video was made. I might retry down the road, but am not really worried about it for the most part.
If you go through the menu, it will let you choose the number of cylinders that your engine is. That's really about it for calibration. As long as you're hooked up to the proper tach lead for your engine, it should work.
I feel like a crank sensor would send out 4x the signal no? It’s picking up a pulse with every rotation on the the crank, but the piston only fires once ever 4 rotations? I’m not sure if that’s how that system works. Is there not an ecu lead for the tach?
I'm glad "China's finest" wasn't in the box while you slapped it on the table. It'd be scrambled before you ever opened the box haha

Thanks for watching! I think it's worth the price considering what it is. But it is far from one of the top of the line units.

Hey man, thanks for the info! I was also browsing over these things, and convinced me that I definitely need to spend the coin on a haltech dash haha
Hi, Syncotech read wide band or narrow band?

How do you have oil pressure sensor
nice review!
It helps me a lot!
Any update on how this unit is holding up and if you still like it?

Mannnn that engine sounds awesome ma brudda. What kinda exhaust system are you using?
It’s a homemade equal length header and 3” strait pipe.
What 02 sensor did you use for it

Problem is the dashes refresh rate is so low it can't keep up with the change in rpm which basically makes it useless
How has this held up long term? Thinking about one for my tine trial car
I ended up replacing this particular unit with an upgraded unit from Sinco-Tech. To that point it was still working fine. I still have the unit and plan on sticking in another vehicle in the near future. I'd be confident in it holding up in a time attack car.
The rpm readout seems to have quite a bit of lag
It does when the engine has no load on it. Especially with how fast my engine revs. But under driving conditions it works well.
How does the egt work? Do you think it would be possible to set it up for multiple egt sensors
I doubt it. It only has a single lead for the EGT sensor
Hello there
Great thanks for you video
Have you fix your problems with the speed calibration ?
I haven’t tried to recalibrate it since I made this. I doubt I will, I don’t use the speed as a reference while on the track.
Cheers
Hello .. I have a question if my engine does not give the speedo signal it won’t work but it could be possible if I get a gps speedo and use it to give the signal to sinco tech unit?
Thanks
I'd like to know the answer to that same question.
click menu and look speed menu and press ok if ur speed at 40km/h

EBRKris thanks for the help keep it up
Are you still using the unit? And is there a delay or much of a delay between the throttle or engine rpm vs the gauge

Hey! How did you get rpm Input ? I have a msd box and hvc coil
I just hooked the RPM lead on the unit to the Tach lead on the MSD box.
There are extra input do u think possible to connect fuel tank level?
There are extra input ports on the unit that aren’t used. However no where are they labeled as to what they might be able to be used for. On the screen itself, there is no display for fuel level.
good video!
How does the display look in direct sunlight? Viewable or ?
GeneralG40 I’ve been able to use it in pretty much every condition, and is easily readable no matter the lighting. It does have a wire to hook it up to the dimmer for interior lights.
Is that a huge delay in the RPM?? that's the normal of dash or something wrong?
Ahmed R there is a delay in the RPM when there is no load on the engine. This engine revs extremely fast when there is no load. No tach I have had can react fast enough to the unloaded engine. (Not that I have used any real high priced tachs). But under driving conditions it works perfectly fine.
What was the part number for the o2 sensor? I guess its narrowband
Yes, I could have been a been a little more clear on that. I just used a stock replacement sensor for a 93 GMC Sierra with a 5.7L I used the 3 wire sensor with the heater built in. I remember it being less then $20 on RockAuto.
Looking forward to seeing some videos @ the track
u should configuration that speed on 40km/h at menu
When i saw the delay of the rpm i had to close this and forget about chinese dash

Hello! How did you do whit the speedometer??
Thejonsson142 I haven’t tried to do anything with the speedo since this video was made. I might retry down the road, but am not really worried about it for the most part.
Is it backlit at all?
Nonstop Performance UA-cam Channel none of the buttons are backlit.
On startup my idle shows 6000 rpm but on my ecu manager its my idle is at 950rpm is there a cal

My is 4 cylinder 2.0 i hooked it up to the crank position sensor I’m pretty sure I set mine to 4 cylinder
I'm not familiar with EFI engines. is the crank sensor where you would normally hook up a tach? In my application it's read from the coil.
EBRKris my car uses coil packs
I feel like a crank sensor would send out 4x the signal no? It’s picking up a pulse with every rotation on the the crank, but the piston only fires once ever 4 rotations? I’m not sure if that’s how that system works. Is there not an ecu lead for the tach?
Why keep beating the box?????
Can you put it kmph
Sahan Rajaratnam yes
that thing looks like such garbage I'm sorry I would just save my money for an aim unit
