  • Zainab Salbi, president of Women for Women International, finds oppression to be a global issue -- unconnected to distinctions of first and third world nations. Aside from advocating for the education and economic empowerment of women, Salbi suggests that we look toward the universal issue: fundamental respect of women. A non-profit organization, Women for Women International provides support for female victims of war and other conflicts.

    What i see as a failure to adress women issues globally is the fact that most women dont tell their own stories and those who do, 75 % of them add a lie in their contest. Example: in USA we have over 900,000 circumcised (FGM) women . Out of that number less than 2% have come out to speak against female genital mutilation. The rest (98%) do nothing to stop the habit.
