    great tutorial, I think what makes it better than many others is that the objects themselves are relatively simple and therefore people can try to follow you step by step without pretending their simple object is similar to the complex object used in the tutorial.

      Thank you! Yeah I also love quick and to the point videos from others.

      Thanks Joko! This is a really promising Assembly workbench. Easy to use and not too many options. It's a great start for this workbench!

    You voice at a very high level, even for a professional - I barely know English and you are the only one I can understand by ear (not counting my compatriots who speak with a terrible accent :)).
    For the huge, clearly visible cursor - special thanks!

    Nice!! Just found out, this workflow doesn't work in version 2024.2.1 or maybe I missed something. I see you're using OS 2024.1 here.

      I haven't tried it in the newer version. Can you tell me what exactly is different?

      @@AllVisuals4U When you import the models it places them outside the Assembly tree. You need to drag them into the assembly. Just the body. Or i'm doing something wrong. Totally new in the CAD world

      I will give it another try sometime, thanks!

    One of the things I've been struggling with is making a sliding joint in a keyhole design rather than a cylindrical slot. It's very frustrating and there's basically no documentation for it.

      This workbench is hopefully getting better and better. Some models work great, but others fail somehow in orientation.

    After following your steps, when I click and drag the part in the assembly I can't actually move it. I can use Placement in properties to reposition a part, but that won't help when testing range of movement by dragging a constrained part. Any ideas why my parts are locked into position in the assembly?

      Did you set the navigation style to 'TinkerCAD'? Otherwise it could be a bug. I also noticed some dragging issues.

      @@AllVisuals4U I did, this tutorial is really good in that there are no missed steps from start to finish and it's short and to the point - I had the same problem with other tutorials but there are a lot of missed steps. I wonder if it's something to do with the way I am creating parts? Do you have a simple project file I can test?

      When you right-click the assembly there is a Transform entry right at the top. Clicking this got it working, I didn't see this in any of the assembly workbench videos.

      @@AllVisuals4U , it doesn't work in freecad regular version RC1...
      tried changing the navigation style to tinkercad. It still doesn't work half the time... any suggestions?

    why use ondsel instead of freecad?

    • @AllVisuals4U
      @AllVisuals4U  7 місяців тому +1

      Ondsel has a better looking default interface and sketching has a better workflow. There is also a built-in Assembly workbench. That are a few examples. Notice that these features will probably also come to future stable FreeCAD versions.

    • @yanikkendler
      @yanikkendler 7 місяців тому

      @@AllVisuals4U afaik these features are not specific to ondsel but rather just experimental freeCAD.. and many are just fine with freeCAD as is, the mentioned differences dont seem like a huge improvement tbh..
      but by using ondsel your locking yourself in this cloud based single company, no open source program.. not worth it for me

    • @AllVisuals4U
      @AllVisuals4U  7 місяців тому

      Yes you can find similar feature in developer versions of FreeCAD. But I think it's a great support for FreeCAD to get known better.

      @@AllVisuals4UI think this is to the beholder. Ondsel still opens up with the tired, very old and antiquated, Win3.0 toolbar layout with the maddening WB pull-down menu, you know the one that all of us want to poke our eyes out when watching demo videos because it is a constant action. ModernUI workbench doesn't work ideally with it either.
