Exactly. I like the show. It isn't a group of 19 year olds. They are grown with careers. I expect them to have an adult vibe with some crying and a little bit of drama. I'm cool with what's going on.
Yall are giving Amir waaaaaayyyy too much credit. It is clear that he himself was not connected to his black side. He was open to and welcomed it, yr he himself was not connected to it and or identified as “black,” but biracial (which he absolutely should). It’s clear he did not have a solid core of and or plethora of black friends so it’s fair that Natalie did not expect to be hanging out with all black ppl when she began dating him. Now, to come onto the show is another story. She 100% knew what she was getting into and couldn’t let her prejudices sleep for even a second.
Now Candace, I like you girl, but excusing Bria’s behavior because we see that on “white shows” is not the defense you think it is. Bria is bratty and annoying. At a certain age, you have to know how to regulate your emotions and know how to treat others. A few people on on this cast need to do some reflection, *cough cough Jordan and Summer*

Like yes we know they pledge, step and do community service/fundraisers but I would have liked a more in depth look into what they do, the bond and emphasis of what makes them so important and differential to predominantly white sororities and fraternities…or even Preston’s experience pledging as an openly gay male (just thinking as a viewer…I can do my own research).

I love Candiaces husband and how he is around the rhop cast. My husband is white and he is more comfy around black people. He grew up in a predominantly black area. He throws down in dominoes and spades more than I do lol. The problem I have with this dynamic, is that more is expected from white men coming into things, than white women. They don't seem to assimilate at all. Which is why people can tell right away whose parent was black in a mixed person. Black mothers demand that their children be respectful and love their black side. Black fathers do not.
Perhaps she doesn't know how to help her light skinned child manage and acknowledge their privilege without ruining their self-esteem. Sometimes, we become so pro black that we don't know our place until other Black people throw us on the light skinned biracial side. That is hurtful also. I understand some aspects of what Candiace may have meant however, she never elaborated on what she meant. I could see Candiace checking her child/children as needed about light skin privilege. It is sensitive and needs to be handled with care and realism.
