Another great video!!! I just love how it’s only about fishing and nothing else, no gimmicks, no messing around, just beautiful scenery and fish!!! Have a great day brotha!
At like 3:50 ish when you start wading out, "it's cold, and it stinks..." I loved it! Just really communicating your actual humanity. It was every bit as cool to me as watching somebody enjoying catching trout. Thanks man...
I see the drawback of Tenkarara fishing; not being able to reel the fish in when using a line substantially longer than the rod. Certainly not to discourage Tenkarara fishing! Beautiful lake! Great video! Thanks!
It really is amazing how someone could be in ice cold water and not catch a fish and almost freeze to death but when the fish start biting the cold just seems to go away it used to be that way when I was a boy duck hunting, rain cold wind shivering but when those Ducks came over the top everything warmed up thanks for the great video.
A Thank you for sharing another enjoyable outing TA. I go to my brothers in Couer d'Alene for a month every year (late Aug-Sept this year)and we camp and fish the "panhandle" specifically the upper Cd'A and St. Jo Rivers. He strictly fly fishes and I use a spinning reel with a four ft. rod and 4# test line ultralight with worms. I consistently catch 18-22" Cutts and he rarely catches anything over 16". I bought a 17.7' rod and this year I'm going to Keiryu fish with streamers and live bait. There's plenty of room to swing it around on those rivers and get some distance when needed. Those were some nice size fish you caught this week. That'll spoil ya! Griff
I too practice CPR (Catch, Photo, Release) 😎I have only kept maybe a dozen fish in my 59 years. I was more of a bass fisher but occasionally hooked a brown or rainbow. Very good fighters. Great content. New sub!
I know of a lake...similar to this in CA. I fished when I was younger. The lake is full of CA Golden Trout. I wish I knew about Tenkara then when I was in shape. Great video.. i loved it.
Nice fishing! I've been watching for a little bit now. Wish the lakes in my part of Idaho were open they are still frozen here.. One of them still has a ton of snow around it.
Another fantastic video, Tristan! I do a lot of my tenkara fishing in alpine lakes, so it was great to see you in such a beautiful spot. I'm curious what you'd pack in if you were to wade that area. I've found that stuffing my waders in my daypack and clipping a pair of Off-Road Crocs to the outside as wading boots works great for most scenarios. Thanks for continuing to share your adventures. Fish On! ;)
Great video, great fish! Monsters for a lake that small. Curious though, what elevation was this? Snow and cold water; I would definitively have wanted waders. Cheers my friend.
@@TenkaraAddict And here's you shivering in waist deep water. No wonder. I must admit, you inspire me with the flexibility and wonders of Tenkara. Makes me want to get out more.
Hi my friend! Nice videos, recently I bought a tenkara rod a dragontail hydra that going to be my first rod let see how its work here on Puerto Rico. But my question is where I found that net with the ruler?
LOL! I got cold watching you. :) I went out to a small lake at about 6,000 ft. in elevation yesterday and turned around. Too windy, cold for me. I came down to 3800 ft. and fished a small brook instead. You must be made of steel!
J'aime beaucoup vos vidéos, je les regarde toutes les semaines. Je suis pêcheur français de Tenkara à Fréjus sur la côte d'azur. Bonne journée. Philippe
That’s it, you convinced me. I’m getting a Tenkara rod. Should be a whole ton of fun. Going to also try on bass, bluegill and crappie. Thanks for opening up a new chapter of fishing for me!!! Check out my newest video. Gave river trout flyfishing a try. Very difficult LOL
I'm not entirely sure what you're asking. Yes, I use barbless hooks, and yes, fish can get off because of that. No big deal. There are tenkara rods out there that are suitable for very large and hard-fighting fish.
Listened with headphones. Don't you love it when the tension on the line of a big fish makes the line sing like a bowed violin string as it's pulled through the water?
How long of a line do you use? I’d use a 15 foot line and a minimum of 5 feet of tippet so you can get out further. When I Tenkara fish with a longer line, I will also handline the fish in if I can, even if it means pulling them across things like the floating islands
That info is always in the video description. I used a 13 foot line and 3 or 4 feet of tippet. But line length wasn't really an issue. I would have just put a longer line on if I'd needed to. And yeah, I didn't want to pull the fish across the floating islands. That was the main problem once I found open water that was close enough to shore.
You must have frozen your nads off wet wading in water that cold! Add snow showers and wind to boot...brrrrrr 🥶 Do you have light weight stocking foot waders? Also, there’s a road...why a 3 mile hike in?
The road is only for sub-50-inch vehicles (i.e., ATVs, etc.). Regular vehicles aren't allowed, and I don't have an ATV, etc. And yes, my hands were cold. I have stocking foot hip waders but didn't think I'd need them. I rarely do for ponds/lakes.
Awesome Video! I look forward to them on Saturdays! I just noticed you have the measure net on your Handy Pak. Are those available to buy anywhere or did you just switch it off your old net?
Beautiful fish and lake. It looked like you had the place to yourself. What's the longest level line you have fished. I've heard people going up to 20' but haven't tried it yet myself.
Most cutthroat are wild in the high mountain stuff. That doesnt necessarily hold true in all places but typical rule of thumb is that cutthroat in the high mountains are wild
Yes. I know a lot of people feel that furled lines cast better, but I like the feel of level lines more. And furled lines are a huge pain in the butt when they get stuck in a tree. Level lines are much easier to free and get less tangled up in the foliage.
Another great video!!! I just love how it’s only about fishing and nothing else, no gimmicks, no messing around, just beautiful scenery and fish!!! Have a great day brotha!
Thanks Toddy!

Indeed! Thanks Richard
Amazing what you can stand...when you are catching fish. Definitely worth a like!
I have watched some of these videos of yours lately. It seems like a great minimalist way to fly fish, just looks like a pain to land them at times.
You are serious business! Nice

bro.. sorry for asking... but why does one always loose the fish? because the hooks are barbless.
