That is a cool idea to take random notes and use your talent and technique and create a song. It really opens the floodgates to open your ability to make a melody! Thanks for the video!
An excellent song-writing tool, It reminds me of something that Steve Allen used to do. He’d have 4 audience members hit random piano keys, then use those notes to compose a song. Just goes to show that there are no wrong notes; it all depends on how you use them.
Thank you so much Charlie for the great method and all the information!! Looking forward to trying it tonight! Starting the composing tutorial with painting a dice in another color though. You are something else XD Enjoy your day! Blessings
Thank you Charlie for this fine instructive video. I first viewed it several moons ago but I continue to go back to it from time to time. As always, selflessly sharing your knowledge with others. You and your family take care and stay well. From Michigan.
I LOVE IT! Order out of Chaos What absolutely perfect timing! My meager efforts were starting to all sound the same (again:), so thank you for the dice idea and the dancing bird technique!!!
Charlie, Thank you for once again sharing your knowledge in this video, as you do in all of your others. That is what you do. Impart what you know to those out there who have an interest, and I'm sure, also create that spark of interest in those who did not have it already. If all people were to be like that, what a better world this would be. Keep on keeping on.
Thank you for all you do Charly you have my support and prayers that you find the success you are working hard for. I love the new performance flutes and sound and looks of it. I could not ask for a more prestigious instrument.
Thank you my friend! Now the trick is to learn how to do this with a two-sided die! Then write the music out in binary and translate it through Egyptian and ancient Mayan, and voila my intro song!
An interesting take on variations on a theme. I like it! Thanks for the idea, Charlie. I'm definitely going to give this a try. Like Old Bones, I know we have some extra dice laying around; one of them is about to become a "musical" die.
Awesome technique and so much fun! I'm using a random number generator in Excel instead of a dice. Just open Excel, in the first block put the formula =RANDBETWEEN(1,6) . Then, copy the cell to as many blank cells as you want notes. Voila! Instant song!
@@BlueBearFlutes lol ... my painting leaves a bit to be desired too!!! I still think the simplicity of this method is awesome ... never would have thought of it ,,, I usually just play from my heart. Great idea!
I made flutes for my grandsons ... and have been trying to show them how to play ... this is going to make it sooooo simple for them!!!! Can't wait for the next video!!!!! A'Ho
It is believed that the old time flute players started on the top notes and played down the scale. I'm certain it wasn't like that for everyone and probably not all the time but most of the old songs that survived support the theory.
For my opinion we should not freeze a living melody into a book to play it machine like. The only thing I would like are some little fragments and technics you can use to enrich the diversity of interpretations while playing a living melody with such a flute.
God Bless the Pentatonic Scale & BlueBearFlutes :)
🙏 Amen 🙏
you are SOOO INSPIRATIONAL :) thank you so so much for keeping it simple xx

And yet there is still so much more than we can do, too!
Thank you, Charlie! What a fantastic, simple idea! Definitley gonna try this.
It works! Wait until you see the next video!

Great idea. Very Natural.

I agree! It is very natural and very symbolic of the actual creative process itself!

I like this creative idea Charlie.....

Brilliant idea, Charlie! This is a great way to create variety in one's quiver of songs, and avoid ruts.
Thanks my friend!
so cool
Coming from you, that is quite a compliment my friend! Splitting arrows on a moving target far surpasses my cool level in this video!
Cool 😎 Thanks for sharing this
You bet! Just wait until you see the next one!
Awesome idea charlie. going to have to start using it. and the flute tab.

Now I have a better use for all those dice out there in one of my shop drawers. Thanks for one great idea!
Can you share a download link for the flute Tab that you are using...

What are using your kiln for? Do have ceramics side to your creativity?
You will have to wait and see my friend! Be sure to subscribe because it's coming up soon!
What is the old fashioned way of starting instead of using the low root note?

If I had started playing flute when this video was made, I might be able to play something besides the scale. 😂
Why is 3 starting from the bottom but 1 or 2 starts from the top hole. I'm confused.
5 is at the bottom, 3 in the middle and 1 at the top...
First
Even in this creative process, it is merely 1.0!
Why these drawings of dozens of flutes, why not just write down a series of numbers ??? 653256454432126
They are for logical thinking people only.
