Imo, rather than religious extremism, the driving force behind Indian right wing is Cultural Conservatism. Indian right wing is not influenced by religion but by Indic/hindu culture. Had the Indian right wing been influenced by religion, then it would have been against Sikhs, jains, Buddhists as well. But that is not the case because these are indic religions with roots in indegenous culture of india. So right wing is pro sikh, jains and Buddhists. The Indian right wing tends to be against Muslims and sometimes against Christians as well because these are foreign/non-indic religions.
