I love figure skating very much. I do respect Yuna Kim and know that she is a greatest figure skater of all times. I also respect Michelle Kwan, Irina Slutskaya, Kiira Korpi and other figure skaters! But I do not understand people, who think that putting bad comments about Evgenia or other skaters will make Yuna more popular or loved. I love Yuna Kim, she is unbelievable, tender, has her own style. I was upset when Yuna has not got her gold medal in Sochi and actually stopped watching women's performance when she left. How happy I am now, when appeared Yevgenia! She is unbelievable, like ballet on ice. I wish her all the best and long career in sport. Adelina and Yulia were quite good, but they never were as good as Yevgenia.

As an skater myself I actually really like watching her skate, I don't know why people can be so mean and hate on her, if you don't like her style of skating it's okay, everyone has their own likes, but you can't deny she is actually very good. There's no point in comparing her to other skaters cause they all skate differently, for example one of my favorite skaters was Alissa Czisny ,and they have completely different skating techniques and artistry, that doesn't make neither of them better than the other just different. Evgenia is only 17 years old, she has a lot to learn and to practice, she still needs to be forged. Yes, I'll admit that her lutz was a little in the wrong edge, and her salchow was a little tight but overall her performance was quite good, I personally like her hand movements and positions on her jumps which is quite difficult, and she even does most of her jumps in the second half of the program which is also an extremely challenging thing to do. I'll never get why people will minimize someone hard work just because they didn't like it, if you didn't like it its completely fine, but I bet Evgenia worked her ass off and trained for hours and hours and sacrificed a lot of things to be able to skate the way she does. As an skater, I know how many falls, tears, bruises, you'll get so... no matter how bad someone does on the program , no matter if i didn't like the choreography or the score system, I will always recognize every single skater I see. I wish/ hope we can all act/think like this.
I also love her Ex's...Wonderfully innovative and beyond anything that any others are doing...And the there is a new video out of a new performance that displays her doing a TT that consists of a Rippon, followed by her trademark Tano...Done easily, apparently without flaw although it is an Ex, with a excellent transition out of it...Her transitions out of her jumps have always been exceptional...Take a look at it...

No. Just stop. She isn't the "best" yet. Sure, jumping multiple triples with the arm aloft is a feat but you people need to stop with the over exaggeration. Anyone can tell that Yuna's jumps were much more fluid and had the best running edge compared to anyone else's. Not just that, Yuna and Mao's choreography sequence and step sequence is yet to be beat. These legends just got overthrown by jumps and nothing else. Don't get me wrong. I admire this young girl for doing all these difficult combinations especially with her arms aloft most of the time, but as a spectator, Yuna's programs were more captivating as it looked like I was watching a ice dance show instead of a competitor in a competition.
Hey pals, I'm not here to start a discussion about who is whose favourite skater... I think Evgenia is great, but I am still captivated by Yuna's exquisiteness, after three years of not having seen her skate. Yuna had this uncanny ability to draw you into the music and to respond to every note by a bodily movement of grace and beauty. Evgenia still looks a bit gawky. I'm looking forward to seeing her grow in the future.

I understand people's opinions will be different from mine and I'm not going to compare any skaters because I don't know them all, but as for the people hating on her for having a supposedly "pretentious" choreography that she doesn't do well, I don't really see it - I think it's actually a kind of beautiful choreo, and she always does it beautifully. The facial expressions aren't "cringey", they're a part of the program and as this program is dramatic in itself (not in a bad way), it makes sense for her facial expressions to be like that. (Although I will allow for the fact that sometimes she can't hide her smile at the end of this program when it's supposed to be serious.) I don't personally see why the rest of the choreographic elements are being criticised, but I suppose I should honestly say that I didn't enjoy her FS here personally as much as I've enjoyed seeing her perform it before. It seemed like she was going a bit too slow and that made it a slightly clunkier performance than normal, but after a while even that didn't really matter because it made it seem almost like she was dancing as normal but on a slightly more slick floor. In honesty, people can like that aspect or hate it, it's their choice. I kind of liked it, but I don't prefer it to a fast skate. I suppose the main reason people are hating is because her score was so high, but I'm not really qualified enough in the figure skating world to talk about that - I mean, the only skating experience I have is watching Yuri on Ice, lmao. But I hope people will express their opinions in a nicer way.
The issue is the scoring and that the same rules don't apply to her. it actually regresses the sport because if this is what is being rewarded ahead of faster skaters with better technique or better musicality or more mature interpretation then that's where the sport will go. Do we want every skating to be doing a formulaic pantomime and not being able to straighten their legs. And in the fairness of competition should the athletes who are actually the best be the ones with the rewards. if she'd finished fifth here with an honest score no one would care but that's the way it is. it saddens me because I love the sport but it's obvious it's not a sport but a sham when her name is written on the trophy before she even rocks up.

Hahahahah so do I, watching yuri on ice is the only experience I have. But even before that show I really liked ice skating, now I love it of course, but I can't understand why people hate and criticize everything, they do it so much they forget to enjoy and appreciate the efforts of somebody else.

She got an edge call on the Lutz, 3S was clean, but the 3T had rough landing. Also, some of those jumps that you are complaining about are coming from footwork so I don't know what the hell you are talking about them not being beautiful. I like people like you who think they are judges lol You just sound stupid.

PJ ChJ That's exactly what it is, an opinion, not a fact. Apparently, the judges had different opinions, and that 3T after the axel didn't count, she just did it because she can put 3T after any jump, because she is that awesome. By the way, having a rough or unclean landing doesn't nullify the jump, an under rotated jump does take away points, but rough just lowers you GOE, and she didn't have under rotated jumps. Just saying. OK!!!!

She's a great athlete that currently shows great technical ability and superiority in the sport (damn that power, strength and endurance...she could do triples for days maybe even a quad if she wants to and practices) and her body movements are actually aesthetically pleasing but her programs comes out as artistically pretentious and cringy because of the stupid miming...i hope she changes her choreos next season...she doesn't even have the artistic ability to express the emotions, passion and stories of her programs in a bevielable and profound manner yet...all she does are these fake, exagerated, facial expressions which lacks passions, and believability-another cringe factor...better to just give her upbeat musics and hiigh energetic choreos if she's just gonna "smile" and "smirk" during a piece like that...
This is one of the few times she has ever broken character. She was happy about her performance and that is something you can't help. Every skater does it.

Along with Ashley, Ev is changing the face of ladies skating, and to be fair a couple of others...Making the routines more difficult and the performances more relevant...Such as this one for example...In Yuna's time and before all ladies were nearly required to be nothing more or less than 'ice princesses' floating all over the ice with minimal jumps and long boring spirals...Yuna had her time, but although I admit to not having seen most her performances, if just based alone on her WR Olympic score, the performance and tech would be equal to any skater at the Senior level now...In fact, all of the top 5 Russians could meet or beat her Olympic routine...As do all of the top 5 American skaters...Just look at the performance...For Yuna to get her Olympic sore now she would have to be massively over-scored... Ev is by far the most balanced of Performance and Tech of any lady I have ever seen...It is just so amazing, in the last GP her scores were only off by .02...She is only 17 and will only continue to improve, such as her developing the Rippon and a quad Sal, which should be ready by the Olys...In the Russian Nationals she did a TT TT TT, although the last didn't count...And skaters are not only graded on their jumps, they are also graded on their footwork, on which she excels... It isn't too much of a stretch to imagine her becoming a legend in ladies skating...
This program was the first time that I saw Evgenia. I never forgotten her smile, her expression, the music. And I'm here, in 2019, and I'm a big fan of figure skating, thank you Evgenia. You gave me the passion of figure skating (I don't practice, I'm a fan of watching).
This kid has such incredible technical abilities AND raw creativity, but I can't help but feel disappointed by the lackluster step sequences here. JUMPS ARE NOT EVERYTHING. I just wish that her choreography had more depth so that the audience could truly be immersed in the story that she's trying to present.

She has so much maturity for such a young age and she always conveys such a meaningful story with her interpretation of the music and the choreography. I seriously don't understand how people can hate on her skating. She is brilliant!
She's so confident in her jumping technics she could afford herself to play around with an extra 3-3 combination that she knew that wouldn't count! She did just about the same at the Russian National performing 3-3-3, with thу third toe not counting! She can afford that!

when I watched Yuna Kim, I was really touched and it was very impressed :)I don't know about figure skating well but when I watched medvedeva, she may have good skills but it doesn't impress me and she cannot compare to yuna. though she breaks Yuna Kim's score, Yuna is the eternal queen for me.

But I'm not korean person (I'm Thai ) I don't hurt to everyone break her WR (228.56 point in 2010) because, she successful in her carrer ,she finished every podium in her races and she retirement 3 years earlier . Yes she can do a arm overhead jump, wtf are you talking about? Also, Yuna is very fast on the ice, she goes into her jumps with a lot of speed whereas other skaters tend to skate slowly into a jump. Also, it's not that she can't do a triple loop, its just that she had an injury and prefers not to do it.

med's 9 tripples(1 of them is meaningless) made her tech score 75.86. Still lower than Yuna's best tech score 77.76 by 7 tripples. Yuna still has the best TES in both short and free program. Is Med really technically great?

I love Yuna Kim, she is unbelievable, tender, has her own style. I was upset when Yuna has not got her gold medal in Sochi and actually stopped watching women's performance when she left. How happy I am now, when appeared Yevgenia! She is unbelievable, like ballet on ice. I wish her all the best and long career in sport. Adelina and Yulia were quite good, but they never were as good as Yevgenia.

As an skater myself I actually really like watching her skate, I don't know why people can be so mean and hate on her, if you don't like her style of skating it's okay, everyone has their own likes, but you can't deny she is actually very good. There's no point in comparing her to other skaters cause they all skate differently, for example one of my favorite skaters was Alissa Czisny ,and they have completely different skating techniques and artistry, that doesn't make neither of them better than the other just different. Evgenia is only 17 years old, she has a lot to learn and to practice, she still needs to be forged. Yes, I'll admit that her lutz was a little in the wrong edge, and her salchow was a little tight but overall her performance was quite good, I personally like her hand movements and positions on her jumps which is quite difficult, and she even does most of her jumps in the second half of the program which is also an extremely challenging thing to do. I'll never get why people will minimize someone hard work just because they didn't like it, if you didn't like it its completely fine, but I bet Evgenia worked her ass off and trained for hours and hours and sacrificed a lot of things to be able to skate the way she does. As an skater, I know how many falls, tears, bruises, you'll get so... no matter how bad someone does on the program , no matter if i didn't like the choreography or the score system, I will always recognize every single skater I see. I wish/ hope we can all act/think like this.

She's a great jumper but to me never has the grace that for example Yuna had
better technically, yeah, but in my opinion doesn't respond to the music as well as Yuna did, and doesn't look as graceful in her transitions.

No. Just stop. She isn't the "best" yet. Sure, jumping multiple triples with the arm aloft is a feat but you people need to stop with the over exaggeration. Anyone can tell that Yuna's jumps were much more fluid and had the best running edge compared to anyone else's. Not just that, Yuna and Mao's choreography sequence and step sequence is yet to be beat. These legends just got overthrown by jumps and nothing else.
Don't get me wrong. I admire this young girl for doing all these difficult combinations especially with her arms aloft most of the time, but as a spectator, Yuna's programs were more captivating as it looked like I was watching a ice dance show instead of a competitor in a competition.
Hey pals, I'm not here to start a discussion about who is whose favourite skater... I think Evgenia is great, but I am still captivated by Yuna's exquisiteness, after three years of not having seen her skate. Yuna had this uncanny ability to draw you into the music and to respond to every note by a bodily movement of grace and beauty. Evgenia still looks a bit gawky. I'm looking forward to seeing her grow in the future.

I understand people's opinions will be different from mine and I'm not going to compare any skaters because I don't know them all, but as for the people hating on her for having a supposedly "pretentious" choreography that she doesn't do well, I don't really see it - I think it's actually a kind of beautiful choreo, and she always does it beautifully. The facial expressions aren't "cringey", they're a part of the program and as this program is dramatic in itself (not in a bad way), it makes sense for her facial expressions to be like that. (Although I will allow for the fact that sometimes she can't hide her smile at the end of this program when it's supposed to be serious.)
I don't personally see why the rest of the choreographic elements are being criticised, but I suppose I should honestly say that I didn't enjoy her FS here personally as much as I've enjoyed seeing her perform it before. It seemed like she was going a bit too slow and that made it a slightly clunkier performance than normal, but after a while even that didn't really matter because it made it seem almost like she was dancing as normal but on a slightly more slick floor. In honesty, people can like that aspect or hate it, it's their choice. I kind of liked it, but I don't prefer it to a fast skate.
I suppose the main reason people are hating is because her score was so high, but I'm not really qualified enough in the figure skating world to talk about that - I mean, the only skating experience I have is watching Yuri on Ice, lmao. But I hope people will express their opinions in a nicer way.
The issue is the scoring and that the same rules don't apply to her. it actually regresses the sport because if this is what is being rewarded ahead of faster skaters with better technique or better musicality or more mature interpretation then that's where the sport will go. Do we want every skating to be doing a formulaic pantomime and not being able to straighten their legs. And in the fairness of competition should the athletes who are actually the best be the ones with the rewards. if she'd finished fifth here with an honest score no one would care but that's the way it is. it saddens me because I love the sport but it's obvious it's not a sport but a sham when her name is written on the trophy before she even rocks up.
Sometimes I think that MsJubjubbird is a bit like a well-informed troll. She and I have had our run-arounds, and it became blatently clear, no matter if she denies it, that she has a major axe to grind with Eteri, Ev's coach and dishes on her constantly...She disguises that by continued complaining about what she says is unfair scoring...And like many others, believes she is a better judge than the pro judges who have been judging competitions for years upon years...Best not to pay attention to her...

Hahahahah so do I, watching yuri on ice is the only experience I have. But even before that show I really liked ice skating, now I love it of course, but I can't understand why people hate and criticize everything, they do it so much they forget to enjoy and appreciate the efforts of somebody else.

Apparently, the judges had different opinions, and that 3T after the axel didn't count, she just did it because she can put 3T after any jump, because she is that awesome. By the way, having a rough or unclean landing doesn't nullify the jump, an under rotated jump does take away points, but rough just lowers you GOE, and she didn't have under rotated jumps. Just saying. OK!!!!

She's a great athlete that currently shows great technical ability and superiority in the sport (damn that power, strength and endurance...she could do triples for days maybe even a quad if she wants to and practices) and her body movements are actually aesthetically pleasing but her programs comes out as artistically pretentious and cringy because of the stupid miming...i hope she changes her choreos next season...she doesn't even have the artistic ability to express the emotions, passion and stories of her programs in a bevielable and profound manner yet...all she does are these fake, exagerated, facial expressions which lacks passions, and believability-another cringe factor...better to just give her upbeat musics and hiigh energetic choreos if she's just gonna "smile" and "smirk" during a piece like that...
This is one of the few times she has ever broken character. She was happy about her performance and that is something you can't help. Every skater does it.

I will not even compare her to others, she is in something of her own where there is no competition.

Along with Ashley, Ev is changing the face of ladies skating, and to be fair a couple of others...Making the routines more difficult and the performances more relevant...Such as this one for example...In Yuna's time and before all ladies were nearly required to be nothing more or less than 'ice princesses' floating all over the ice with minimal jumps and long boring spirals...Yuna had her time, but although I admit to not having seen most her performances, if just based alone on her WR Olympic score, the performance and tech would be equal to any skater at the Senior level now...In fact, all of the top 5 Russians could meet or beat her Olympic routine...As do all of the top 5 American skaters...Just look at the performance...For Yuna to get her Olympic sore now she would have to be massively over-scored...
Ev is by far the most balanced of Performance and Tech of any lady I have ever seen...It is just so amazing, in the last GP her scores were only off by .02...She is only 17 and will only continue to improve, such as her developing the Rippon and a quad Sal, which should be ready by the Olys...In the Russian Nationals she did a TT TT TT, although the last didn't count...And skaters are not only graded on their jumps, they are also graded on their footwork, on which she excels... It isn't too much of a stretch to imagine her becoming a legend in ladies skating...
This program was the first time that I saw Evgenia. I never forgotten her smile, her expression, the music. And I'm here, in 2019, and I'm a big fan of figure skating, thank you Evgenia. You gave me the passion of figure skating (I don't practice, I'm a fan of watching).

This kid has such incredible technical abilities AND raw creativity, but I can't help but feel disappointed by the lackluster step sequences here. JUMPS ARE NOT EVERYTHING. I just wish that her choreography had more depth so that the audience could truly be immersed in the story that she's trying to present.

I don't bem saying that other skaters don't shows this, but Evgenia Is the highlight of the moment and therefore receives such high marks, just as Yuna received the best marks during her period of activity ... Also breaking new world record. ISU loves her. For her beauty, good body, talented and top performance. Finally she can clear who is very good quailty under big pressure. I love her also hope she will have good luck in next year of Olympic Game. She deserves breaking record.

when I watched Yuna Kim, I was really touched and it was very impressed :)I don't know about figure skating well but when I watched medvedeva, she may have good skills but it doesn't impress me and she cannot compare to yuna. though she breaks Yuna Kim's score, Yuna is the eternal queen for me.

Yes she can do a arm overhead jump, wtf are you talking about? Also, Yuna is very fast on the ice, she goes into her jumps with a lot of speed whereas other skaters tend to skate slowly into a jump.
Also, it's not that she can't do a triple loop, its just that she had an injury and prefers not to do it.

Now I can totally get why she repeated that 3t. The first triple after the Salchow was a bit odd and she wanted to show her coaches that she was not to be written off because of her upcoming rival Zagitova and her overloaded program (had Evgenia kept her original FP for the Olympics...)

Still lower than Yuna's best tech score 77.76 by 7 tripples.
Yuna still has the best TES in both short and free program.

It was a different scoring system in 2010 in which +2 in GOE meant + 2 points in TES now +2 in GOE gives you 1.4 In TES for a triple Lutz for example

Not many people know that Evgenia is highly involved when it comes to choreography, character of the short and free skating programs. Eteri said that herself in a short movie about Evgenia and Tutberidze you can check it out yourself if you don`t believe me. And one more thing- Evgenia herself chooses music for her programs too. So she still being a teenager feels the music and expresses emotions just fine. End of story.

Evgenia yı diğerlerinden ayıran şey buz üzerinde anlattığı olaydı,bunu yaparken jest ve mimiklerini çok iyi kullanıyordu ve seçtiği müzik insanın kalbine işliyordu. Ondan sonra onu daha çok araştırdım ve izledim. Ve her seferinde şunu fark ettim o sadece buz üzerinde kaymıyordu,o buzun üzerinde yaşadığı bir olayı bize anlatıyordu. Ve en önemlisi,ben her seferinde onda kendimi gördüm. Çünkü ben yaptığım bir işte en çok insanların kalbine dokunmayı severim ve bunu yaparken mimiklerimi çok kullanırım. O da benim gibi düşünüyor olmalı çünkü insanların kalbine çok iyi dokunuyor.
