oh yeah, my top 3, as well as the 8th and the last places, coincides with the official results 🤭 that's funny, because i would rank them differently based on the performances, but it's the SONG contest after all, so i guess i'm fine with that? btw my top 16 of the performances: 1. United Kingdom 2. France 3. Albania 4. Spain 5. Ukraine 6. Portugal 7. Estonia 8. Malta 9. Armenia 10. Netherlands 11. Poland 12. Georgia 13. North Macedonia 14. Ireland 15. Germany 16. Italy combining it with a top of the songs, i get this: 1. France 2. United Kingdom 3. Spain 4. Albania 5. Armenia 6. Estonia 7. Ukraine 8. Portugal 9. North Macedonia 10. Poland 11. Malta 12. Germany 13. Netherlands 14. Georgia 15. Italy 16. Ireland that's it! see you next year 🥰
It was never my intention to come off as rude. If you ask me, it's not even the most harsh comment out of those given here - lower places had it worse (and had it coming too). Perhaps I need to explain myself. I didn't mean that Germany's song is not worth listening to at all or something. I still enjoy it to some extent, just not as much as I could've, had they explored a more interesting sound. The melody is not that much of a problem here, however, it could've been elevated by a more elaborate arrangement that would feature some unique instruments or memorable samples. Instead, the whole thing relies solely on the melody, which itself doesn't have that many hooks (the title of the song being repeated in the chorus is basically the only one), but also doesn't get to shine due to quite an ordinary instrumental. The similar sound was used by way too many songs out there for this one to stand out. It's admirable that they decided to choose such an important topic for a song, but I think it needed a more nuanced sound presentation. Take Serbia's latest ESC entries for example. The form and content in a perfect balance. Not that I insist on the JESC entries being so out there, but if the kids are able to take the mature-sounding pop dance tracks and heavy ballads, I'm sure they would handle a bit of experiments too. But I digress.
@@theshigoto Hello from Germany ^^. Some thoughts about some Impressions I got over the last years: I think the reason why we always go for songs that feel rather ,,safe'' might be the way how our Broadcaster handles JESC. Its important to know that Germany unlike many other countries has a Broadcaster in charge that is fully focussed on Children. And thats why they probably don´t want to go on an entry that feels to polished and hyped up. Mainly because they want to keep the entries as real as possible so that the kids can identify with them -> ,,Kids Protection'' how its called here. (Note: This is not 100% my opinion, more of what I felt could be the reason). Those things where already pretty visable throughout our last 2 entries I think. And I assume that on the current one they wanted to lie the Focus on Fia and her story so they held the songs arrangement rather simple to not overshine that. Maybe that explained a bit more :).

Very poor commentary on Germany's entry shame on you
thanks 😃
maybe the comment on Germany was not very nice - but the Top 7 place is fair and deserved.
