  • The first crude oil shipment exported from the United States in 40 years has sailed from Corpus Christi, Texas. NuStar Energy and ConocoPhillips loaded a vessel at NuStar's North Beach Terminal at Port Corpus Christi. The light crude oil sold to the international trading company Vitol, left the dock at Port Corpus Christi on December 31, 2015.
The United States government repealed a 40 year ban on the export of crude oil in December. The crude oil cargo departing from Port Corpus Christi marks a historical moment for the United States.
Port Corpus Christi has emerged as a prime location for the export of US crude and condensates. Major investments in terminal operations, deep water, dock space, abundant storage, and plans for further channel deepening will accommodate some of the world's largest tankers for efficient movement of cargoes from the South Texas port.
