【WITH VARIVAS】Trout lure's developer, Masashi Kawashima, selects the right line for stream fishing.

Masashi Kawashima has been using the VARIVAS line for over 30 years. A lure designer for BASSDAY-JAPAN Inc., he has created a number of classic trout lures that are considered such as “SUGAR MINNOW” “SUGAR DEEP,” “RANGE VIB” and “BOTTOM TWITCHER.”
While developing lures, Masashi Kawashima targets Cherry Salmon in the main streams of the Kuzuryu River and Yoneshiro River, also Yamame or Char in the mountain streams during summer.
We questioned Mr. Kwashima, who has been involved in lure development for many years, about the lines he prefers to use.
When targeting Cherry Salmon in the main stream, use “VARIVAS SUPER TROUT Advance Max Power PE x8,” size #1.2 for spinning reel, and #1.5 for bait reel.
For Yamame or Char in mountain streams, he actively incorporates bait-finesse reel tackle, mainly using “VARIVAS SUPER TROUT Advance BAIT FINESSE PE x4” size #0.6 for the main line. If using spinning-reel tackle, he prefers to use #0.5.
Kawashima’s style is to use different line thickness depending on the type of reel used to wind in order to minimize backlash and other line problems.

大鱒の硬い口にフッキングするにはPEの伸びの少なさが必要不可欠。
いまだにPEは伸びないから食い込みが悪いので針掛かりしないと言う人達がいるけど物理的に考えたらおかしな話、自分は伸びの少ないPEに硬い竿でトラウト釣ってます。
