I bought a second hand mtb and after the second ride the gear shifter locked as you describe. My gear shifter is SRAM but a slightly different type with 4 screws in the cover. But the problem was exactly the same. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much. My spring came loose and I wasn’t sure where it was supposed to reattach. Your explanation with a clear visual helped me immensely. I’m back as good as new without having to take it into the LBS and lose my bike for days or weeks! Plus it saved $$!
Just brilliant - thank you for taking the time. Saved me ages of effort (beyond the ages I had already spent trying to work it out!) Am grateful. Thank you very much. :-)
Just had the same issue with a SX shifter, cable went out of position when slack and then jammed. From what I could see when I opened it opened it up there's literally nothing to hold the cable in place. This issue could be so easily avoided with a little more thought from SRAM.
I ordered a new shifter because I thought it was broken, then the new shifter got the same problem so this video saves my life :D
Thanks so much, this is the only video I found that actually helped me fix it!
Only had 8 shifts on my gx eagle 12 speed. This video saved me 🙌
Perfect! Really nicely explained and sorted my shifter in minutes. Thanks for taking the time to share 🙂

You solved my problem - thank you!
Wasn't sure what had happened to mine when I accidentally shifted with the cable loose. Thanks for the super helpful video!
i knew it was this issue soon as i got like 2 minutes in... thanx so much

Thank you! I was worried I was going to have to replace a shifter on a bike I want to sell.

Your the man! 🙌🙌
Thank you!!
thanks i fixed my shifter
Thank you! This solved my issue with a jammed NX shifter
Same! I left the shifter attached to the handlebar, removed no wires at all! just unscrew the four shifter lid screws and solved it in 5 minutes.
Thanks, but rotate that camera man.
