The live version of this is crazy good.
This video was recorded at a Shinto shrine, the inside portions the Ladies removed their shoes out of respect. They have recorded at other temples/shrines in a few other videos. There is also a live version of this song taken from their 2018 Zepp Tokyo Concert that I recommend that you watch. You can hear just how they sound live, and how they translate the studio version to the stage. This was from before the Ladies were allowed to record their own music. However they were the ones who chose which songs they recorded and were also involved in the final arrangements of the music.
"Don't You Tell Me" live at Zepp 2018. If not then the MV. You asked & i answered first, please do it.🙋♂️
@@jeremydawkins8814 Woo hoo. The Maidiac bandwagon is rolling. I mean thx Jeremy :)
Their diversity in sound from one sone to another is awesome.
It's all about the songs with Maid Rock...no set vibe or genre you can 'pigeon hole' them into. They go all in with every song, no copy paste and no track a lazy album filler. I would say, unlike many bands, you can't really know them until you've heard every song because they always do something fresh. A great contemporary relevant rock track is 'Influencer' and a beauty of a video location 👌👊💪🤘🤘🤘
During both my trips to Japan (from UK) to see the ladies LIVE.....I visited this "set"...hehe!
@@GaryHolloway-810 Yeah..I took more photos...hehe!..even though I took plenty last time I was there...But this time I took photo's of paintings that are in the roof of a seating area which I didn't recall last time as I sat on a bench on the right of the temple...but this time I sat on the left side. (brought a warm canned coffee from the vending machine there.)
@@GaryHolloway-810 "Bocchi The Rock"..swing....just a 10min walk from the temple!...hehe!
@@Bodneyblue Yeah i will get a better look on Tuesday. My brother, sister & niece are over for new years so i don't think i'll be able to wade thru all the empty bottles before then.😏
A good way to witness their diversity is the two in one "Manners" and "Black Hole". Two very different styles played to perfection. Oh and you need to witness the live version of "Real Existence" (also on their channel), it's wild!
Imagine this x 1000. That's the live version of this song by THE best Hard Rock band on Earth.
After checking LOVEBITES, BAND-MAID, BABYMETAL, check another TOP Japanese Bands...
NEMOPHILA(all female) live songs ZEN, Change The World, Seize The Fate, Rise, Revive, Dissension, Raitei...
HANABIE(all female) songs We Love Sweets, Be The GAL, Pardon Me, NEET GAME...

GACHARIC SPIN(all female) songs Mindset, Tamashii, Baku Baku...
ASTERISM(female guitarist) songs Dawn, Rising Moon, Church, Blaze, Gun Fire, all songs with guitar and 7string bass solos...
MAXIMUM THE HORMON(female drummer) songs Alien, Prey, Koi No Sperm, Koi No America...
Do the official live so you can see how the performance of a single song has matured.
The LIVE version is even better and not to be missed! And that's not a set, they're on location at a real temple. I've forgotten which one, but you may notice that MISA isn't the only one with her shoes off when they're right there in it, and you can see practice pads over Akane's drum heads. Other than the LIVE version of this song I'd recommend 'Domination' LIVE. But you did mention Metal. So if the Hard Rock isn't heavy enough for you probably the most Metal influenced BAND-MAID songs are 'Different', 'Black Hole' and 'Rinne'.
Thanks Josh, the traverse from 2014 BAND-MAID to 2023 BAND-MAID is rather exhausting (always in an Awesome way). Check out their latest instrumental (yes, they have several), FROM NOW ON which is a rock/metal/prog knockout (literally). A showpiece of their ability to captivate your senses and heart at the same time. Which they do quite a bit over their 120+ song catalog. Peace. 37.6
Awesome choice. Jk here's my first prediction for 2024. B-M will release an official live vid of "Hate?" from Yokahama. It's got proper camera work & everything for the awesome lead/bass conversation :)
@@GaryHolloway-810 YES! I've put the odds at 1-5 that HATE will be first up from Yokohama. The band knows it's a monster ever since Lollapalooza but the camera work was atrocious there. Do you think the band would do Saiki's CHOOSE ME? Odds are 25-1. 🤔🤷🏻♂
@@jkkansasband7056 If they hadn't already done the "Choose Me" MV & live vid then probably "Yes" so Saiki's solo version will be destined for B-M Prime at some point instead :)
If you want to see Maids do crazy things. The mv Warning is the one . The mv After Life too.
Best band today and yes, live vids are incredible but a few MV's as well are:
Blooming
Warning
Daydreaming
From now On ( instrumental- much shredding!! )
You will be getting SO many suggestions hah!
DAYDREAMING IS A MUST AND A ROCK AND ROLL MASTERPIECE FOR THE AGES. ALONE IS THE FIRST ONE CREATED COMPOSED BY THEM. AND FOR THE MOST PART, THEY HAVEN'T LOOKED BACK. NEW SUBSCRIBER GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR CHANNEL !
this i believe was their second mv - 'thrill' being their first - next in line is 'the non fiction days' - another first class banger in chronological order.
I second 'the non fiction days' as well while also suggesting 'Alone' as it was their first Band Written release, with a bit of punk vibe and awesome guitar solo.
yeah - alone is a must. and let's not forget 'yolo' as well. another earlier MAID gem.@@robertbassham8514
Love it, a real banger, live is even better!
There's not one good thing to say about BAND-MAID. Because there are all great things
Only 130 more songs to go Josh.....better get after it! ............Lol! Just one a week would be three years😳
An exercise in the extremes of Band Maid... BAND-MAID / Manners, BLACK HOLE (Official Live Video) ua-cam.com/video/iaf94nNSRGE/v-deo.html
their musical style?? easy bro: imagine a dark tunnel; there is a small light at the end; its a cute girl with a candle!
...and a motorbike....and a race car... and a truck....and a cargotrain...all at once!!!
Okay, you definitely do yourself a favor and check out their live work. Real Existence live, Domination, Play, all great opportunities to see them on stage and see how they hold up in front of an audience. There are also some sound stage, live streamed cuts from the COVID era, but save that for later on down the road.
Band Maid was heavily supported by producers in Japan, and they would not let them do their own songs, at first (probably a good call as they learned), but when they finally cut them loose, the material improved a ton, as did the allowance of them to play their instruments, which really shows. Major improvement, 5 years in the past, onward:
I will double down on the LIVE versions on Manners with Black Hole

and the live version of Domination:

My current favorite Band Maid song is Daydreaming, best audio on that one is non-live:

A solid 4th place, for me, is Freedom:

Great reaction 🎉 to a Maid classic. You hit the bookends with song #1 “Thrill” and their latest release “Shambles.”
You made some great observations and picked up much more than other reactors. I suspect your ears will be rewarded the more you listen to them.
Band Maid both evolves over time and plays multiple genres well. They have distinct eras; the one you saw today was the “Tiny Hat Era” 2015-2018. (Drummer Akane’s little hat or not)
Top rock monster hits from this era are “Moratorium,” and “Don’t you tell ME,” both LIVE @Zepp Tokyo. The latter being Gary Holloway’s favorite, and he also has good musical taste.
Or, as the foremost expert on Band Maid musical recommendations in the world (in my own mind), I would encourage you to take a listen to a different facet of this incredible band.
They’ve released four fully instrumental tracks (because they can) and their most recent was not only a lead single, but also a music video in 2022: “From Now On.”
Hey man.....great song....BUT wrong version......The LIVE VERSION of this song is the one that turned me into a lifetime Band Maid fan.
You will not believe its the same song and is one of their best live performances.
Alters slightly you say LOL, maybe a little bit more than that. Thanks for reacting to BAND-MAID.
BAND-MAID loves me this i know. For the bible tells us so. Maidiacs to them are dra-Heeey they've taken it out of the bible, that was the best bit. Tch😒
@@GaryHolloway-810 I may not be religious, but I believe I have heard this before🤔...and it stuck in my head..😉.
@@Bodneyblue Lol. My only religion is the Maids. Btw i managed to grab a quick look at the USB stick but i won't get a proper chance until after new years day. You lied about those photos being boring, i've seen some gorgeous ones already. Plus were you intentionally filming videos sideways?
@@GaryHolloway-810 This was only the second time I've used the phone in the 3 years I had it!...(no social life) hehe....I'm not very good at using it...I just point and press....That's why I haven't even bothered looking at the video I shot of "Choose Me" at Yokohama...It's probably out of focus and to far away to actually see anything....but hey ho!..I did see that some of the photo's have little patches in them that seem to be out of focus to the rest of the photo..Not sure why that is...The quarry one was my attempt to pan..haha!...I had thought about buying a gimbal before I went..to get better videos (don't think my phone, "Mi10T Lite" has IS)..But as I was the only one likely to see the videos..I decided to save money and not bother...My hands aren't the steadyist...I did double up on some shoots as I wasn't sure I took one..so pressed again in the hope of maybe a better focus..stuff like that...I did flick through some today...As like last time..I find it hard to believe I was in Japan!
A great Band Maid song but you need to jump forward a few more years, once they start writing their own songs. Alone (2016) is their first song they had 100% control of. After that, its all their own writing and composition.
Definitely need to hear the official live of this one - it's even better than this one. Their sound is gradually morphing at this time but still nothing close to present day. Take your time though - too many great songs to just skip over them.
Band Maid is best seen live. They add solos, call and response on instruments and energy. Real Existence live is easily twice the song then the mv. Moritorium live is also a must watch as it goes hard and has great live mixing.
