At 2:39 idk if yall noticed, but its a different violin than the one in the original- im not expert in music but from my own feelings, i think this violin sounds so... intense, romantic, so sweet. I feel as if its representing Sua(of course)- until the end, she loved mizi, she stayed with her, she sung with her, and she doesn't regret one bit of that. While in the original, i feel like it just represents the shock of everyone around on what happened, WTF SHE JUST BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF LUKA?!? yknow? And its as if hes also plaiyng along. Also if you notice there’s like a slight difference of tone in both songs. Lukas voice is more harsh, his tone is less romantic and more aggressive while Sua is more soft and romantic, and at the last “ruler of my heart” you can see you Lukas voice is more longing while Sua is more loving
I want to add to this, Mizi sings less in this cover compared to before, and only sang mainly in "Ruler of my heart". It kind of gives off that rather than this being a duet, it's a love song from Sua to Mizi.

the way the captions tell a story! i love the colored captions, Mizis color is and has been pink. for this whole song the captions are neon pink, these captions 2:56 start out as Suas color (a light blue/green) and then change pink with each word being spoken. right after, the opposite happens 3:05 !! man the thing i love about alien stage is the sheer attention to detail in everything they do!! all the anniversary covers are so so well thought out as to which character sings which song, it really gives a new depth to the story
Going back after the new teaser for Ivan and till I realize that Sua cover is so different from Luka in so many ways, and one of it is the significance. Luka’s “ruler of heart” is meant to signified longing. He’s singing to someone he knows he can’t have (Hyunna), his voice and tone are more desperate and in some way possessive, his behavior is so destructive (like killing Hyunas brother) that the song itself is so deceiving. Meanwhile Sua “ruler of heart” is a confession, she’s singing a confession to Mizi, and in such case you can hear Mizi in the background following her voice that flows so naturally that it doesn’t sound force, and that bcs Sua knows she can sing freely her confession of having someone she doesn’t need to force to love her, she’s soft and loving with it because she doesn’t feel the necessity to posses someone. And so her song is not deceitful but persuasive. ( I might be wrong or maybe just sleep deprived after making a while deep analysis of alien stage and having to break down each song 💀)

this rings of sweet serenade and delicate weaving and the ever-subtle tease of desire. she sings with the same soothing endearment as a lullaby. it’s ridiculously, oh so carefully tempered. how sua sings ruler of my heart is such a welcomed remix from how luka sings it … her voice is a graze, a light touch, a dip and departure that’s sprinkled so softly it’s almost sugary sweet without being overwhelming. whereas luka sings with strong fervor, his confidence evident in the low sway of his voice, sua’s is soft. light. playful. i hear this particularly in how she sings “I don’t believe, you’re a liar” (1:01) with … almost nonchalance? in contrast, luka’s “you’re - a - liar” is, i want to note, his cadence imparts a different feeling. i am in no way condemning one or the other. this is my descent into hysteria over how good ruler of my heart is, and how good they both sing it in context of their respective duo dynamics (luka - hyuna, sua - mizi). so fitting that after my clemetis, sua gets to sing ruler of my heart. the lyrics of desire, both solemn and fervent, both tragic in circumstance nonetheless. wonderful. showstopping. this is my renaissance. anyways, before i derail - luka’s ruler of my heart is enthralling, beautiful, but there’s a certain seething anger veiled behind his ambition, his talent for performance, and thickly lacquered voice. it’s breathtaking. he sings with hold that enraptures you entirely, it’s strong but controlled, contained (much alike him). there’s no room for protest. it is less pleading than it is command. his presence especially demands with no compromise. he’s strong and he sings with the power he knows he has, tailors it to mock, provoke mizi, yet deliver a stunning performance to the unassuming audience in the same breath. there’s layers to his motivations and goals, his purpose, a complexity as intriguing as it is scathing if you venture too close. sua, on the other hand … “you are forever beautiful” (1:19). do you hear that. do you. do you hear that. so lightly tender, yet loving nonetheless. (i adore especially how she casts the last syllable). (1:29) the almost-anguish-the strain, in her voice as she sings “the endless walls”, to “a fall with no ground” (1:33) ringing so matter-of-factly cynical, bitter even, to how prettily sua says “in a single moment (breaking down)”. as if almost on the verge of tears, it tugs at your heartstrings. she’s content in how she sings “my world, collasping” (1:41). so resigned, but not adverse. it’s almost indifference, but it is not solemn. 1:45 onwards is pulsing with love so tender, but in particular, sua’s voice is dripping with honey when she professes “i can give you everything” (1:50). it actually makes me feel lightheaded how adoringly she sings it. and the strength that surges in sua’s voice from 2:09 onwards will actually kill me … then she fades to her characteristic light-touch of sweetness … hello. she’s so cute here. i feel as though they out her charm on full display. sua’s almost cheeky at certain parts. the last dewdrop whispers of “ruler of my heart” to conclude this cover is perfect. everything is perfect. i want to put this in th context of her relationship with mizi but i think adding lyric analysis to my deranged reaction and rambling will make this longer than it is already.
tldr; i go insane over this cover. i try my hand at intrepreting the feelings she sings each breath with. i briefly compare and contrast to luka’s cover but go no further for i’ve dissected him to pieces in other spaces already. i feel insane. this is not proofread. if you’ve read this far and encountered any grammatical or syntax errors, you may be entilted to my sympathy. and i am sorry.
feeling a little crazy thinking about how luka almost imitates sua’s feelings for mizi in the og ruler of my heart, yet doesn’t replicate it with care or anything, sort of just makes a mockery of her worship. her voice is rendered so delicate here, there’s love that’s fragile. sua’s like glass in how she conveys herself in this cover, while luka is like the harsh whip of flames, the forceful sway of someone’s puppetwork on marionette strings.

the way the captions tell a story! i love the colored captions, Mizis color is and has been pink. for this whole song the captions are neon pink, these captions 2:56 start out as Suas color (a light blue/green) and then change pink with each word being spoken. right after, the opposite happens 3:05 !! It starts out with Mizis color and changes to blue. from what i can assume, this is probably to show their mutual love.

Damnn Sua's version is so good, and has different vibe compared to Luka's.
Sua sounds genuinely like a girl in love, while Luka sounds confident and obssessive. I still love Luka's version more since it did impress me from the first time hearing (while it took me couple re-plays for Sua's version to sink in), but now I listen to both ❤

Going back after the new teaser for Ivan and till I realize that Sua cover is so different from Luka in so many ways, and one of it is the significance. Luka’s “ruler of heart” is meant to signified longing. He’s singing to someone he knows he can’t have (Hyunna), his voice and tone are more desperate and in some way possessive, his behavior is so destructive (like killing Hyunas brother) that the song itself is so deceiving.
Meanwhile Sua “ruler of heart” is a confession, she’s singing a confession to Mizi, and in such case you can hear Mizi in the background following her voice that flows so naturally that it doesn’t sound force, and that bcs Sua knows she can sing freely her confession of having someone she doesn’t need to force to love her, she’s soft and loving with it because she doesn’t feel the necessity to posses someone. And so her song is not deceitful but persuasive.
( I might be wrong or maybe just sleep deprived after making a while deep analysis of alien stage and having to break down each song 💀)
