That sounds so hard, I'm so sorry. You have every right to be frustrated with this organisation, I'm not going to hate on then as I don't know them or the while situation, but I will say you shouldn't have had to deal with all that. Service dogs are there to help you, not hinder you and yes all dogs will have their issues but those should have been spotted earlier.
Just try your best not to be hard on yourself, you did the best you could in the situation you were put in. It is not your fault and you are allowed to not be okay, to feel *whatever* you feel and do whatever you need to do to get through it. We're here for you and we love you, just keep doing you and pushing through ❤❤

Some service dogs just don't work out, as a college kid that also is reliant on my service dog I've come to respect that as a fact. Dogs wash out for just about everything, and I can full hardheartedly say that both of your dogs washing was not your fault. You are a kind person, it will all work out, it always does it just takes some time. And for the record I think you are very mature, don't let them get you down, be upset its okay to let it out but don't let them discourage you from getting a new SD, and don't let them make you feel like you where the one at fault.
It will work out, it always does sometimes it just takes awhile

I am so sorry you have to go through this. You seem so incredibly nice and don't deserve this at all.

Its so hard to see them go down hill, and then you start having trust issues and it just doesn't work out. It really sucks.

Steph it does and the sad thing is that I was supposed to have my dog spring break then this month but me and my mom don't think I am going to get my dog before next school year

Yeah thats hard, are you going through an organization? I have found that the organization really gives me the run around until I pin them down and ask them stuff in person. It sucks but I don't have the time or energy to owner train so this is where we are I guess. I hope your dog comes before the school year, its really hard transitioning back into school and dealing with a new dog.

Steph yah I would owner train but having school and my brother being afraid of dogs and my landlord it's supper hard and it's sad because we got the program lots of funds we got a country singer to sing for them and raise money and we have more than double what we need

Thats a hard position to be in. I am sorry you have to go through it. Hopefully the organization gets its stuff together and you get your dog.

And as for the wheelchair, I can fully sympathise, I'm still in a rental one that's HUGE, so clunky and heavy and urgh I hate it so much and I can barely get myself around in it. I know it's frustrating but if that's all we can do then that's all we can do. We can't expect any more of ourselves and things might just have to such for a while, but we're all still here to support each other and get each other through it.

Omg, after this video I am so glad I didn't go with a organization service dog. That is so ridiculous! I mean even if all u bought was his food, vet bills, treats, toys, etc basic dog needs, that's still really expensive. So to have that ripped away is hard. Also I disagree with the rule that ppl in the family can't say hi to SDs. My dog knows, when his vest is on and we are in PA, he can't say Hi to anyone. Including my friend who goes most places with us or my mom, anyone. But he knows at home if I give him a command or need alert, he must do it. But he knows when my mom comes over, my friends, my aunts, anyone, if he sits and is patent, he can go see and get attention from them! SDs are dogs first and formost! They deserve a dog life along with a working life. And if a dog is traiend well enough, they should learn when the vest is on, they aren't allowed to play with other ppl. However when its off its a little more relaxed, they must obay and alert if need be, but they get to socialize with people, friendly dogs, play with toys, and etc. So I hate it that some ppl who train that rule that they can't say hi no matter what. If its a good dog that was traiend well, it should know the time and place it gets to greet ppl. But the fact organizations can make these "Rules" then take a dog if they are broken, even slightly like that, away from a disabled person, is beyound horable. Yeah training was expensive. I had to pay for a trainer then a behaviorist to help ubdo some of the things the trainer tought (such as the no socialization rule that made my dog overall not a happy dog) and yes i am disabled and cant work so it was hard to pay for everything I need. But I would rather figure that out 100 times over again then deal with a organization that could just decide my dogs fate or take him away.. And next time i most likely won't need a trainer as i know how to train now. I am so glad after watching this, that I choose to go about my Dog the way I did. It would of been heartbreaking after giving away a pet and a prospect for my SD, to have something like this happens. What happends when dogs get old and retire? Do they take them away like I know some organizations do? My dog will be with me until he is old and passes away. I will get a prospect when my dogs about 8 to train, and my SD will help co train as dogs learn from eachother, but no way will I ever rely on a cheesy program. Thats just awful!

Organizations are obv not going to be perfect. I'm sure there's plenty of good things about them. However, the thing about your family not being able to play with the dog is total bullshit. Look at Chronically Jaquie, The Frey Life, and The Dale Tribe. They all have service dogs and their families are allowed to treat them like a dog. The organization probably won't change their mind, established rules are hard to change. Anyway, I hope you can find a way to get your needs met, SD or not.

I agree but that rule is the main reason they wont give me another dog, because they think my family is going to pet it and play with it. The pretty much said they want my family to totally ignore the dog and have no contact with it which is impossible! I was very frustrated. Organizations have their pros but they definitely have their cons. I also think the owner trained dogs of other youtubers have better training, its sad to say but organizations typically try to get dogs through the system as fast as possible so that they make money. I think the training suffers a little.

Steph One of the reasons I didn't go with an organization is not allowing others to interact with our SD. I'm very medically fragile and have very complex medical issues, plus I use a wheelchair, so if I have to spend time in the hospital or just confined to my bed I need others who can maintain his training. Also, dogs are pack animals and it is very hard for them to ignore ones family that's your pack. Many people do train their own and there are many resources out there to help, but I applaud you for knowing what would be best for all involved. Given your desire to be a special d teacher, if your SD can also do therapy tasks, not an option for some teams, it could be a boon. If you do this though, seriously consider owner training so those strick interaction rules are not in place. Ihave seen this combination work beautifully, and my pup is showing he potential, so it is under consideration for us. He has alerted to my daughter when I was not in need, when her O2 level was dangerously low. Showing us, his ability to keep me as his main focus. We're working on getting her a SD BTW. A friend's SD (mobility, seizures, diabetes) has been a reading buddy for one of her SpED students, and alerted to another student by signaling the issue - low blood sugar- running to the student signaling again and sat with attention on handler. Repeated this until my friend got the hint. The student's BS was below 60. With some agencies, he above could have caused her to loose her dog.
Allergies are a problem, and easily over looked when the critters are not with you 24x7. Some find a raw food diet helps. My pup eats his way and it's easier than feeding a toddler. I see many with large dogs going to trouble that's not required, and feel free to contact me if you would like. This is not saying you should do anything, but if you choose to, I'm available to help. Same thing regarding training or getting DME when one has limited strength (ultralight 'chair et al).
May life get more manageable and preferably better.

@@danielleg.1084 kind of. All of those dogs where sent away for training. They are all border traiend Service dogs. Its not "Owner traiend' where the owner traiend them, but its also not a organization. Its kinda in between the 2

I've been watching Chronically Jacquie and how they handle Harlow. I'm curious where Jacquie got Harlow. They might be a good resource.
