Over 420 years ago, very very long time ago.Awa area(old local name, and now we call Tokushima prefecture that located at 700km west from Tokyo) Tokushima is wonderful place and water island. you can see a lot of river viewne I stay in Tokyo ,now. Tokushima is my 2nd hometown.and hurtful hometown. By the way, The origin of Awa dance is not yet defined, not clear. The first of origin stories is Hachisuka korou is the King of Tokushima castle , who was promoted as the king of TOKUSHIMA. THE KING Of cattle ,we call TONOSAMA。many many Nomal people celebrated and congratulated for New king by Awa dancing at inside plaza Tokushima cattle. The 2nd origin stories, Return day of our previous soul, we can meet grandfather's and grandmother's Soul who were already passed away. You can see Beautiful ladies who were Kimono (japanese TRADITIONAL wear), and play Shamisen( Japanese traditional 3 wires guitar ). In case of Tokushima Awa dance festival ,2 big multipurpuse hall and One huge dome hall, and 4 Street stage with charge , like this movie ,and several change free street stage and everywhere they want to dance become dance stage Dancer joins their Awa dance group,.We call "Ren". In case of Street performance ,first heiof all ,Paper lantern which locates at higher position cames in as Top. This group is called as "Gojahei" include over 400 members,biggest group in Tokushima. Another words, The biggest Awa dance Group in Japan. Oh, no-- The biggest Awa dance Group all over the world !!!
