Question: Mine (2011 Chevy Avalanche LTZ) has a dash that cracked and it makes an annoying rattling noise. How do u fix that? Will this cover fix rattling noise. As much as I want the cosmetic fix also would like that annoying noise gone
I have seen a few of them that come into my warehouse that have the same issue and I take the time and remove the front section by itself and under it on the far left and far right you might find two electrical connectors that are vibrating up and down and hitting the bottom of the vent section dashboard..I normally push them further down and put a piece of foam over them. Then I reinstall that piece and put a dash cap on top. It normally fixes most of the rattling sound..the vent section will have app. 9-11 clips under it. you can pry them loose with caution to get to the connectors. Hope this helps
Just installed another one of these dashcaps on a 2011 tahoe and when I pulled the vent section off to check the rattling noise that the customer mentioned... I found a crack under the dead center of the main structure...had to epoxy it back together and add a small piece of foam under it before installing dash cap over it..Hope this helps
I had the same issue with my 2010 Avalanche LTZ. In most cases the crack is caused by vibration due to a broken fastener and is usually the one near the dashboard speaker. Remove the a-pillar covers, remove the cover where the light sensor sits. Repair the broken fastener (or use Velcro) and re-install everything. I was able to glue the crack by removing the airbag.
What is the glue called exactly?
MTV4500. But a good silicone adhesive in the big tube works just as good from Home depot or lowes
What type of glue is this
RTV4500
