      She definitely started to panic. Once she realized it was just the house that was in danger and not her family she exhaled as the fear left. Better to deal with house insurance than life insurance.

      Its natural instinct obviously they knew thier mom was on shift. So as soon as kid heard voice your going to know its your mum for sure.

      we had a break-in when I was a kid and the operator answering my moms call was a family friend (not that close) and they still knew each others voices right away. Mom didn´t have to give the adress or anything.

      She was extremely professional and did a great job keeping everyone calmed down (it is very hard to calm down when you are the person on the other end of a 911 call as, thankfully, that is a rare high stress experience for most of us!). Her daughter did well herself as she managed to answer all the questions asked despite being very frightened by the fire and loss of her home. Her reaction was all the more remarkable given that it was her own daughter she was talking to, though I’m sure that hearing everyone was safely out of the house helped immensely as everything else is just property and sentiment but the ones she loves were all safe.

      I mean, as a dispatcher you have to be. You’re trained to be calm and collected no matter what types of calls you get. If not, you can’t be a dispatcher. You have to get help where it’s needed efficiently but also calm the person on the other end

    I think it’s instinct for a mother and child to recognize each other’s voices. I know I can hear my kid say “Mom” in a sea of kids yelling mom at an amusement park and vice versa.

      Right i used to be thoroughly impressed by my mom recognizing my voice in loud and crowded areas. What’s also impressive is that if other mothers are around , they don’t even flinch only my mom immediately finds where i am it’s pretty cool. To this day I’m convinced she’d recognize my voice in a crowd and I’m 25 now

    I feel for this family. I knew a cop who had to go to his own step daughters car accident not knowing it was hers until he got there and he had to call his own family as professional as possible. Sadly his step daughter passed several hours later from the car accident.

      When I was 13. I was in a major car crash. Went under a flatbed trailer. My mom was a nurse at the time and was on duty in the ER at the time when I came in I was covered in blood in an air suit to keep my blood pressure up. When she saw who I was. She lost it. This mother was so calm

    That mom is awesome. It is one thing to keep your cool when its someone else's tragedy. However, as soon as I would have heard my own child...my professionalism would have went out the door. Bless this family, and the mom is definitely in the correct profession.

    Now this is a go fund me I would participate in! She did so amazingly. Stayed calm. Handled the situation. Saved them! Go mom!!! But so sad they lost everything. Oh well- everyone made it out that’s all that matters!

    My daughter is a 911 dispatcher and son-in-law is a cop. 4 kids ages 9mo to 11yrs. I know this is their nightmare. Yet blessing as well. Glad no one was hurt. God bless Mom and rest of family.
