I notice pieces like this just aren't around anymore. It's no wonder A Charlie Brown Christmas is such a classic. Imagine watching back in the 60s when it first came out with this tune. Really feels like Christmas.
This song always makes me wanna cry. Every time I hear it, I'm 8 years old again and life just seems so much simpler and happy. It's honestly my favorite part of the season. Just this song.
I think it's now come to a point where a majority of my favourite songs to play on piano were learned from your fantastic tutorials. John, you're my hero! And the new HD looks and sounds GREAT! Thank you so much
My main/natural instrument is bass and piano is my second instrument. I have to fill in for a friend of mine who can't do his usual Thanksgiving night gig at a party this year and asked me to fill in for him. This was the only song on the list that eluded me. Thanks to you only in 35 minutes I've got it down. I really appreciate you. You're a great teacher.
I just started commenting. On things. Im commenting on this. What a sweet song. Thank you Vince. Thank you tutorialist. Thank you for anyone sane and alive in this topsy turvy world
I am thankful to know chord structure. Tutorials like this are easier if you know your scales and chords that are associated with that scale. After many decades of music training I still come to these tutorials and get help on songs. Thank You for this.
You are the best Piano teacher.. ever... I turned 46 today.. but when I was a kid, like 12 year's old, watching the Music teacher showing someone how to play something on the piano, and ignoring my teaching on the flute.. I wished for a better teacher... wish you had been around when I was a kid.. who desired above all, the knowledge you now have.. =)
So it's that time of year again and I decided I needed to revisit my family's piano, the cello being my first instrument. I have loved playing this song with my dad at a young age so this brings back memories... so I wanted to suprise my dad and learn it by my 12th birthday for Christmas... a few more days to go and this is sure to help! Thank you!
I remeber asking for this tutorial like a year ago. Pianoman responded "Ill post it before next years holidays." Im so happy he actually remembered. Thanks!
Translation: I am from Paris and I've followed your lessons with enchantment for 2 months. You are remarkable and very enjoyable to watch. I now learn piano with a big smile. Thanks to you I'm learning the Beatles tutorials that I love so much fast enough. It's my youth. Thank you dear Pianojohn and be well you are one of the greats. -Jacques
That's awesome! I love Vince Guaraldi's music. I use to be a piano player in my younger years. I can read music and play by ear, and I have wrote music before. Now in my mid 50's, I'm so desiring to play piano again. Especially, starting with Guaraldi's Charlie Brown Christmas music. Thank you for the lesson!
thank you from the bottom of my heart. You dont know how much this means to someone DYING to take piano lessons and cant afford it. Your FILLED WITH WIN today buddy.
Excellent tutorial. I was able to pick up the first part in a day thanks to your clear instruction, and I'm a drummer, for chrissakes. Working on the second part tonight. Such a great song. Thanks again.
Excellent tutorial. Very well done. Just what I was looking for and just in time to surprise someone for Christmas. Thank you, and have a blessed Christmas.
Great video. Thanks for taking the time to not only step through it, but to identify each note on screen. I was able to figure out the guitar chords based on your identification. Thanks so much!
Yeah this tutorial is MUCH better than the one you did 5 years ago. Thank you for posting it before Christmas, I'm about to begin learning it now and you just made it easier for me. :) The only thing the tutorial is lacking is the little intro in the very beginning with the few chords Guaraldi starts the song with, but I can figure that out. Thanks a bunch as always.
I have seriously wanting to play this forever. After a bit of time I was able to completely play the 1st half (well simplified because I cannot do the stretch). Thank you so much! As a beginner who has had no lessons (yet) I am sure to impress my friends and family when they come over.
Hey thank you so much for this! Learned the piece within an evening thanks to your video. It's officially the last song of the medley I'm putting together this year!
Hi John - got a digital piano this summer, been practicing hard. Found this tutorial, have wanted to play this since I was a kid in the 60's. Thanks so much, this lesson is getting so much use and is soo helpful! Appreciate it.
your voice is calm, assured, friendly and informative. the pace is not too fast, and for us advanced folks, not too slow (thank god for the miracle !!!). the lettered note names are a great visual aid. the quick reviews are very helpful. perhaps on later versions you could give us the actual chord names and basslines. I'd love to see a lesson like this, not just yours, that balance between the minute note after note bit, and the broader chordal/scaletone alalysis. But, thanks so much :) !!
Got it in an hour, playing a few different styles and speeds. Thank goodness for long fingahs 😅 and thank goodness for you sir, this song has been one of my faves since I was 5 years old, and it’s also been in my mind all day, I had to learn it. Thank you, and happy holidays 👌🏽🙏🏽
Thanks so much for this! The way you go through everything and break it all down is such a great way to learn this stuff! Really hope you are able to post more videos one day! Your tutorials are miles and miles ahead of all the rest! Thanks and happy holidays to you!
hey john!!!! thank you so much for your tutorials, they're so easy to follow. this is by far one of my favorite Christmas songs, and I'm so happy you did a tutorial on it!!! thanks again!
Thanks so much for posting this. Very straight forward and easy to follow, and you play beautifully. A couple of months ago I took a music theory course and bought a piano on a whim. I've played guitar for years, but haven't touched a piano since I was seven. I challenged a group of friends to a recital for our annual Christmas party and it went surprisingly well. Six of us participated, and four are still playing. One couple has a baby grand piano in their living room, and it always bugged me that neither of them played. I learned this and am working on O Christmas Tree. Coming from a blues/rock background the chord progressions are very challenging, and I still don't understand the theory behind them. Considerably more sophisticated than a I IV V progression and a blues scale. Thank you for opening up a new world for me, and Happy Holidays!
5:56 It’s the surprised shock and mild disgust when he accidentally played the wrong chord for me 😂😂😂😂😂 Absolutely LOVE this video!!! Thanks so much!!!
Did you say "I am of paris and I'm going with your enchantement.depuis 2 months. you are remarkable and very agréable.j, learn piano with a broad smile. thanks to you I learn fast enough during the beatles that I love. this is my youth. thank you, dear pianojohn and wear bien.vous you are a great. Hi 👋 - better late than never ! , thanks for this tutorial. Good for even average keyboard players, I learnt it in approx 20 mins on my 76 note keyboard , adding a bass / drums/ guitar backing style second time around etc , Fab ! - thanks & all best to you & All 🤪🌈 .
love this song.. thx for the upload.. whenever i want to learn one of my favorite songs, either elton john or billy joel u always come through.. like ur piano btw.. Thanks again!
I thank you for this. I play by ear and for this year's rehearsals I was using an AbM7, DbM7 for the bridge which I see now is wrong. It's been a year or two since I played this song. lol This was very helpful in getting me back on track with the correct chords. Thanks again!
Thank you so much. I've been wanting to play this for a few years now and I should have it all done and memorized in the next few months thanks to you!!!!!! (and thanks for the tips...I could not stretch for none of them, that A note at the beginning killed me LOL) (tim)

You're very welcome, Granny G, I'm glad it was helpful to you. Enjoy!
Your playing sounds so much nicer (and more like the recording) than any of the tutorials of people playing on a keyboard.
God, those major 7ths get me in the feels every time!

I can now play this song in it's entirety! Thank you so much.

Awesome John, you're the best! God bless you.
Thanks for posting - this is such a nice arrangement of this great piece! Great work pianojohn113!
I thank you for this. I play by ear and for this year's rehearsals I was using an AbM7, DbM7 for the bridge which I see now is wrong. It's been a year or two since I played this song. lol This was very helpful in getting me back on track with the correct chords. Thanks again!
You're entirely welcome, and I'm glad it was helpful to you!
Thank you for doing this!! I've just started learning piano and am excited to practice this song!
Very nice job on this tutorial. Merry Christmas.
Great lesson..... Thank you for posting this video♪♫♪
Learned this a while ago by a couple people. Wish you had yours back then, lol. Anyway, great song to play.
Thanks John. Beautiful and not too difficult.
Those stretches...
Hope you're doing well.
Thanks, Chipshotz, glad you liked it.
You left out the passing chord (Eb7) in between the A- and D7 in the bridge.
Thank you so much, this is an absolutely wonderful tutorial :)
Beautiful ❤
Thank you John for posting this! And ahead of the season so we can learn it! You rock! :D
