i kinda hate how people never took this opening era and song seriously... like this "MAMA" concept is their actual group concept, the fact that they're aliens sent here with powers to help the darkness in the world disappear and they're confused and shocked with how corrupt and infected it is here on earth. i really always loved their first songs and the deep lyrics behind them and what they meant to communicate to the audience, in telling their concept and group's story yet also bringing to light actual issues. EXO always 💯

I agree with you, absolutely. Hopefully sm gives them more songs like this and true jot only Exo L but kpop fans in general and even more people can join and make this world a little better :). I also wish these kpop artists promoted more positive things like helping against bullying, donating for good causes, and whatnot but well to each their own (although I can say a few kpop artists are like that and maybe others do it annonymous. Then they can say they help their fans and inspire them not only with good lyrics and music but even in real life with actions.
I think this song has the best meaning out of all songs in kpop, it’s about respect, what the world has come to, the evil, how we are too obsessed with judging people from social media, loneliness and what people feel and how you should be polite and just be yourself etc. it literally includes so many problems and the fact that this is their whole concept as a group just makes exo a billion times more special.
I totally agree, I hope many people would hear this song and reflect towards their actions.

People are too quick to judge this song because the mv is "cringy" lol but tbh even now that I've grown I don't find the mv cringy at all and find it cool just like when I first discovered it. And the song is surprisingly meaningful, i thought it was just about superpower back then haha. EXO really debuted with a masterpiece.

I know everybody makes fun of this song, but it's definitely one of the most creative and unique kpop song ever. Mixing gregorian chants with a pop sound while still managing to make it sound cohesive is impressive as hell ! And they even added screamo ! Like who's even doing it like this these days ? I feel so stupid to admit that I used to think this song is funny. This is my 1st time seeing the actual lyrics of the song and I am glad I did atleast now. Only now I feel the depth of the lyrics. It's too powerful and can't believe they did this in 2012 while these kinda songs are getting more popular only recently in kpop.

why do you guys think they're so successful? they are a part of the illuminati. Ik I sound like an annoying conspiracist right now but I recently got into their music and to me they seemed perfect. I basically idolized them until I saw their debut song mama. Kabzi캅지 I am an ARMY and an EXO-L, and I definitely agree that BTS doesn't harmonize very much. I'm not saying anything against them, of course! It's probably because half the group are rappers, but even among the vocal line, there's not much harmonizing. In songs like House of Cards, one or two members sing together, but the whole band never sings together like EXO does. That's why I like listening to lots of different groups. You get all kinds of different styles!
the bts vocal line is weak(er), and still is. their group was focused on a hip hop style from the beginning, so the vocal line naturally is much weaker than their rap line. bts is mostly unable to harmonize successfully, their voices are more suited for singing solo lines.

The first time I read the lyrics to this song, I thought it was exactly how the lyrics were meant to be, you know like help me your Majesty with all these things. But coming back after a few months, I took the lyrics differently. If you read in between the lines sometimes it feels as though they are referring their feelings to the members who left. Like "Why won't we communicate? Why won't we love?" and "We shed tears at the painful reality once again." and other lyrics. I don't know this song just makes me think that EXO-K is talking about Kris, Luhan, and Tao leaving.
