I caught a recorded broadcast of The Civic's concert on WRCJ on Sunday, May, 22nd, and they sounded fantastic! I was particularly impressed with "Air on the G String", which was made even more moving by the touching tribute to the orchestra member's father. Very well done!
It's actually not an Orchestra members father. It's Charles Burke's (Director of Education for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Artistic Director of Civic Youth Ensembles) father. Charles is the guy talking in the beginning. I interned at the DSO.
Awesome job, but, I had a sad thought: Does Detroit even have any kind of orchestra anymore? All the pictures I see of the place look like Beirut after the Muslims took over.| Someone please say it isn't so.
What a great version of stars and stripes and such a handsome orchestra.

We played this for All County. It was fun :)
The cello part for this is SOOOO much fun. I got to sight read it once with my cello teacher

I guess Larry didn’t care enough to scrounge up a pair of black pants to match his jacket for the performance…. 🙄🙄🙄
