It wasn't just the face, that's the donor's hair, ears, everything. Pat was totally burned bald, both ears gone, no eyelids. Look up his before pic, the transformation is miraculous.
Man that donor saved so many lives after his own sorrowful death. He not only donated his heart, liver, and lungs, but also his FACE. That man is a true hero and will always be remembered. God bless him and his family.

you can find the story of the donor, he was an amazing person. His eyes are similar, nose and mouth too. Patrick's face is still similar to the donor's face. The donor's face was from a young man, in his twenties and his mother met the Patrick. She cried of course, it still resembled her son's face. I hope no one forgets to thank him for helping this man, both should be commended.
This is the beauty of humans. A man who died gave his body to science who would save a man who dedicated his life to save other lives. I don't know if my sentences makes sense, but it truly touched my heart. Edit : wow, just wow, he's physically 90% himself again this is CRAZYYYYYYYYYYYYY. Major major respect to all the surgeons.
The donor family are the most remarkable, empathic and kind humans on this sad planet. The medical teams that made this possible for Pat are far and beyond the best of the best!🙏❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful. I am donating my whole body once I’m gone I have no need for it and look how it can live on! My heart can beat again in someone else my kidneys liver lungs can all have purpose again . My skin eyes etc can all go to people who need them. What use to they have after death if you do not donate?. Make sure if you are willing to donate your organs or body to help others live , You let family know of your wishes make a will or at least express what you want. Look at the good it can do🙂

Wow, Dr. Rodriguez is brilliant, a genius! Imagine that! The first complete face transplant in the world! That is truly a miraculous operation. Just think of how complicated it must be to reattach all of the blood vessals and nerves. It's amazing how the face has gotten color and how its gotten progressively tighter and hair grew back on the scalp. The only think that still looks a little off are his eyelids, but that will probably get better too.
@Rahul Khanduri why can't you just help educate instead of being so rude? You are clearly the idiot in this situation, not the other person. I hope you have a better day tomorrow.
The eyes are so jarring for me. I felt the same with the most recent face transplant story too. They say the eyes are the window to the soul, but I feel the donor’s presence still too. Not in a bad or disrespectful way, it’s actually very precious. I can’t even fathom the incredible emotional strength everyone involved must have. Much respect for them all ✌🏼♥️
He looks real good when u consider all he’s been through- a few days of overgrowth of beard stubble like when a guy needs a shave would add a nice natural touch to frame his face.
Yeah he looks like he has some sort of genetic problem or a deformity, that's what most people probably think when they see him on the street. Before he looked like something from a horror movie so it is an incredible improvement.
I cant be the only one who got emotional about this hero. So much respect for him sacrificing himself in order to save lives, and almost Much much MUCH respect to the young man who donated his face and organs and his family.
Thanks to both Patrick for putting your life on the line (like many first responders do every day), to the person who's face was donated, and to the doctors and nurses who performed this operation. The world is a better place because of all of you.

That's the best face transplant I've seen. He looks good. I'm a organ donor but have AB+ blood type so not many people will be able to take anything from me.
Unbelievable.. He looks absolutely wonderful.. It is hard to even grasp that Doctors could do this operation and have it be so successful... What a wonderful gift to give this man..
I think he is the kind of man that, even after knowing the pain and misery of being that badly burnt and injured he was. Would still run in to a burning building if someone was in the need of help. A true Hero! And a man to really be inspired by.
Just amazing! What a comfort it must be to the donor's family, too, to know so much good came from his tragic accident. My son died 2 years ago of cancer and I would willingly have agreed to donating his organs as would he if it had been possible. I would urge everyone reading this to let your family know you'd want to save other lives if you died.
He deserves the goodness of life thats was a great happiness of a mom seen the face and other organ to provide a new life its god willing..happy for them.
He looks so much younger and better looking than his old self. Congratulations! You are such inspiration, it takes the resiliency of a giant to appreciate one’s life. You shown how we have the capacity to turn a tragedy into a greater faith
He really does resemble his donor, but also his former self (before the burns). It's like a blend of features. Honestly, the science and the compassion that went into giving this man his dignity and pride back is astounding
I’m just blown away by David’s family donating his organs, that alone is a wonderfully selfless act, but to donate something so intimate as his face, which is his identity, is incredible... you can even see on Patrick’s forehead a chicken pox scar that David had on his forehead, which is obvious of course but it’s so unbelievable how far surgery has come. This is such a great story
