No they are not a treasure, they are way more than that, they are the ones who makes you able to live more than 40 years, they are the ones who understood science more than any other fields of the human kind, you can't fathom how much we as a society rely on physics to live the life we accept as "normal", our undersanding of physics is the "norm". For someone who's not educated in science this should be at a religious level.

My science teacher for three subjects, meaning I had her 3/4 years of highschool, she was honestly the greatest teacher and person overall. She meant the world to a lot of us and she really cared and did everything to make us feel cared about. She wasn’t but 45 and the year after I graduated, also the year she gave birth to her second child, she was found unresponsive, died in her sleep. Just a freak event and it still breaks my heart to this day because she really was that one teacher who would go above and beyond for you, no questions asked. Mrs. Kennedy, you did wonders for me and for many many others, I hope you are having a great time with your “memes of the day” and are at peace. Thank you for everything❤

This mentality is exactly why university degrees have gotten less and less valuable while at the same time getting more and more expensive.
The purpose of higher education is education in the readiness for a profession. By that metric higher education has been an increasing failure for decades. Graduates are less impressive than they have ever been. I had a science teacher like her in 1997 and I’ve never forgotten Mrs Humphries. She taught us about climate change by dressing up in head to toe “sun protection” (long sleeves and pants) a bug netting hat, zinc oxide under her eyes, rubber gloves and big rain boots and an umbrella with a towel over her shoulder. The board just read BEACHWEAR OF THE FUTURE. She was smiling and welcomed us to class. She is retired now but she also gave me my first guitar and I still play it to this day. Teachers like this are GEMS to the lives of their students

Good teacher, but not sure I agree with her on climate change. She probably expected people would need that kind of protection by now and can’t help but notice they don’t. The goalposts on global warming/climate change are ever moving. She probably called it global warming too, if I’m not wrong. Climate change is relatively new nomenclature.
