What sets Chael apart from 99.9% of people on earth, is that he can rant off the top of his head for hours. When you do these jump cuts, it takes away everything from his talent. 100% of people can study a sentence or two, pause the video and come up with 2 more lines, say them, pause the video come up with 2 more lines and repeat.

Goggins has helped alot of people out of dark moments in their lives. By giving you a reality check. He is an inspiration to a lot of people. People forget as well as running he also held the world record for pullups. You can knock running all you want, it will pull you back out of depression and give you mental clarity with out a prescription. Goggins is not an influencer, his an inspiration. He's not lying to you or trying to sell you supplements. He just tells you his thoughts on fup stuff.

Until I developed plantar fasciitis and now I can’t run at all or else I have crippling pain in the mornings….

My uncle was a us marine in 70s and 80s. Im 33 and have been in construction and gas production since I was 13 years old. I've never met a man as hard, organized, honest and mentally smart and tough than him since. If I did they were or are seals or Marines. Period.
Legend has it that once when Chael was doing an extended talking workout no one could get him to quit and Mark Munoz finally turned off the power to the studio. Even in the dark, though, we could still hear him . . . blah, blah, blah.
As a fighter myself, I know how horrible it feels when you run out of gas in a fight and the opponent is coming for you, honestly. But there are way worse things on this planet, I served in the German Mountain troops (gebirgsjäger) and we ran up mountain after mountain, and even with all of the fighting done in my life, I felt like the biggest bitch, because I wish I could quit somehow but I couldn´t. David Goggins is actively fighting this mental state of being broken, there is no way he would ever quit against strickland even the sparring session goes for an hour, he would sacrifice his whole body just to get through it. David is not accepting that challenge, because the internet crowd is pretty dumb and would see that sparring session as a loss for goggins, because he would get beaten up. That´s why he´s challenging Sean to a real challenge, where they are equivalent. He´s not challenging him to a ultra marathon or a pull up contest, but to a workout session, just to show Sean what he´s about, the mentality to not quit. I was a Strickland fan until his internet bs was getting bigger.

Well said everything, completely agree with you , I too was a Sean fan , I enjoyed his comments , interviews and fights a lot but this time he's being a Lil too bi*ch , I still respect the guy and I know he can completely destroy Goggins , but I just don't think there's any need for this Sparring Session. David Goggins is someone very inspirational to me , I really appreciate the ethics and mental strength of the guy , I can completely understand his side. Whatever you said I completely agree and respect.
How Goggins challenging to a real challenge? Goggins body is used to running that much. That’s all he does how is it equivalent? Sean’s has skills and Goggins has endurance. They both think they are tough so they are challenging each other to do each thing they think they are best at. Problem is why isn’t Goggins sparring first and then doing his session? They both act tough and invincible and but reality is they are human as well and both of them want an advantage over the other. If Goggins spars first gets hurt he can’t do his endurance training. If Sean does Goggins session first and fails then he can’t spar. They are not in the same sport. And they won’t come to an agreement since both of them want an advantage. It’s that simple. It’s never happening.
How could you ignore everything else about Strickland to be a fan and then let this be the point that pushes you away?

No one is disputing that Goggins is extremely mentally strong and in fantastic shape. He would probably beat Strickland in a workout/marathon. In a boxing or MMA fight? I think Strickland would be victorious. The fact that Goggins won't quit will probably mean that he takes more damage

I am 63 years old and started boxing bare knuckle at 12. From there started training in full contact karate and after 30 years of training, started teaching. One thing my students will attest to is that I was not a bully and did not spar with my students because I did not like hitting them. Sean Strickland is loved by every one who cannot fight themselves and lives their lives through other men. Sure he beats up on people. Ok, but watch him act like a little girl when he is sparring Alex! Watch it! He is soooo careful not to anger Alex for fear of getting knocked out AGAIN! Be a tough guy and go off on the dude that can knock you cold, than tell me how "fearless" you are.

the fact is that david is willing to look bad in sean's world and sean is not willing to look bad in david's world. goggins agreed to "put on the gloves" and get in the ring with sean. goggins, i imagine, would have to know he is going to get beat up but he is willing to do it. sean is unwilling to even attempt the navy seal's work out. 10-8 goggins on this one (and I don't particularly like goggins).

@@charlestoddsullivanforpres6628 I agree with him. While the SEAL didn't "give up" in the typical way that's normally associated with asking to stop a fight, he most certain gave up. He was downed many times, and got into a defensive/fetal postion. He wasn't mounting an offense. He wasn't countering. He wasn't moving. He mostly just sat there like a punching bag. So he didn't give up as far as the literal definition of the term, but he certainly offered zero resistance. To add to this, Sean obviously took it easy on him save for a hard punch here and there. If Sean wanted to force the SEAL to quit via some submission that would have resulted in a broken bone, the SEAL most certainly would have. Sean could have shut the SEAL's lights out at any time. I don't mean to ramble, I just wanted to clarify.

I remember a three hour, fifteen mile hump with a full ruck at Quantico VA in August. Half of us did not drop from heat exhaustion. The half that made it back stood in formation trying to not pass out while the platoon captain started cranking out slow, perfect pull up’s with his ruck still on and asking..“Great, you made it here. Are you able to perform the mission now”?

You have to give this much credit to Strickland; he had a beef with David Goggins, and instead of challenging a 50 year old guy, Strickland opened the door to all SEALS so any one of Mr. Goggins younger brothers in uniform can stand in for him, which is actually a very honorable thing to do.

They are clowns that get in a fake fight with rules in a soft padded clean cage with the air conditioning running just so they can make money, earn fame, and entertain us. They are just a freak show in the real world. Dana White is their P. T. Barnum. Seals are warriors.
There is not a single navy seal alive right now that could beat Strickland in a fight. Not one. Mma fighters, spend years honing fighting skills. And Strickland was a champ. Navy seals spend just a fraction of their training time on hand to hand combat. Strickland has literally been training in hand to hand for decades. Mma is another level. Embarrassing that you need this explained to you.
Sean’s a tool for calling out and shit talking seals in general, at this point it don’t matter what Goggins says. ironic the dude doesn’t say anything like that until he’s champ, and past military-age and having never served. Whether Goggins seen combat or not, he was fully prepared to go into the thick of it and was more than willing to lay his life on the line for this country. Sean didn’t wanna throw the boots on, and instead wanted to spend his life training at being the best fighter at 185 pounds, just to be insecure and go and say that seals can’t do what he does. Both have 19 years of experience in their craft. Neither can do what either does, the only difference is that Sean is 33 and dedicated 19 years of his life to fighting. Goggins is 49 and dedicated 19 years of his life to being a warfighter.
If we organize competitions
then what's worth doing is to recognize who can help more people connect and love each other in order to live peacefully and self-reliantly, but trying to express yourself, and beat each other.

David Goggins would make Sean quit in an hour. Sean thinks he's tough because he can out-spar anyone on the planet, ie he can do the thing he loves more than anyone else. Goggins does the things HE HATES. He hates running, but he forces himself to compete in 100 mile races. Doing something you love isn't tough. Doing something you hate for days at a time non-stop is tough.

Endurance running/training and fighting at UFC level, are 2 different things. Period. This should be the main point. Winning a tryathlon and winnings a UFC belt are both a great achievement but not the same.

I think it was mainly due to the backlash he was receiving and how many supporters of David Goggins kept chiming in. I’m positively sure if given the opportunity to pummel David Goggins in a fist fight Sean would take it. The thing is goggins is down to fight but first they have to do goggins training first so millions of miles of running lunges and hundreds of push ups and pull ups till Sean is completely dead pretty much and then they spar which Sean would be beaten up by a fresh Goggins whose used to his own training he wouldn’t be tired

I’m sure Sean doesn’t do it for the views. He really enjoys the chaos, proving himself and calming his inner demons trough fighting. Some people are wired different, and enjoy that grind. What proved this to me is him training with Pereira right after the KO.
If toughness is a coin, they both represent toughness on each side. Let's say it's a quarter, Sean is Washington, David is the Bald Eagle.

The problem is that it quickly escalated for no reason into a fight challenge. Sean said he couldn't last, David said he couldn't last, then it turns into Sean challenging the SEALs to a 25 minute spar session, which looked awful but I'm glad Mitch represented even though he's been a veteran and not an active SEAL for the last 6 years. Sean, a man who wore that champion belt, wants to now fight David, a retired SEAL who doesn't train for the UFC everyday. It's pathetic. It's no different than Jake Paul challenging somebody who has nothing to do with boxing. That's all he wants to do, is box the shit out of David like he did with Mitch and it's ridiculous.
Idk about the Navy Seals but if you think you're tougher mentally than someone who frequently runs ultramarathons, you're wrong.

There's a difference between physical toughness and mental toughness. Goggins has both. He can't match Sean in sparring (which isn't the only measure of physical toughness), but he can push himself harder - without quitting.

What sets Chael apart from 99.9% of people on earth, is that he can rant off the top of his head for hours. When you do these jump cuts, it takes away everything from his talent. 100% of people can study a sentence or two, pause the video and come up with 2 more lines, say them, pause the video come up with 2 more lines and repeat.

I'd think making it through Seal training is akin to never tapping to a rear naked choke, or any submission really. Those guys are tortured for weeks but can make it all go away any time they choose. They aren't the greatest at unarmed combat but they are among the most determined in the world. They're right behind the Bad Guy and Chuck Norris on my list of folks not to piss off. Sean is somewhat lower, just above baby pigeons and Eskimos.

I like Goggins and Sean. Being a former Recon Marine, the odds are not good that Sean could hang with our workouts, specifically the water work. If he can swim, he could get there for sure given training. The water is what gets most people. Zero chance most of us could hang in the ring with Sean. He is past the professional level that I would put most seals and recon and other special operations groups. He is, in my opinion, at the DevGru level of MMA. Of course, the comparisons are not ideal, but there are 1000s of Seals and Recon Marines/ SF/Marsoc/ SARC, AF ParaRescue, etc etc.etc. Even comparing the special operations groups isn't a great comparison. There are not thousands at the very top of MMA. Huge difference. We do what we do and MMA does what they do. You can't be a the top of any of these if you are mentally or physically weak. However, for special operations you must be a team player and you must keep your crap together for long periods of time...not all MMA guys can do that. Just the observations of an old former Recon Marine.
The thing is sparring still has a set of rules in a specific, defined area (cage, ring). If they go true no rules where weapons are fair game, sean gets destroyed. Sean is trying to create a context that suits him which is fair but he tries to paint it as the ultimate form engagement which it simply isn't as their are rules and regs.

Best way to view this is: Mindset, Fitness, Life Skills, Martial Arts [Sean has 2/4] [David has 3/4] If we're talking the "whole" package David would be hard to beat. Even in a fist fight he would still have a punchers chance...just facts. I think Sean is used to bullying people, he's certainly not going to be able to bully David online or in person.
