DO NOT CLICK Bitly Links!!!

- Bitly or bit.ly links have become increasingly common around social media and via email. As you are effectively clicking blindly and unaware of where the link leads, many of these links are masking dangerous software on the other end. Never click on hidden links unless you know where it leads!

Hello, thank you very much for your instructional video. It was very good. Please leave this collection of videos. Thank you.
No matter what, people shouldn't click links at all unless they know 100% that it isn't a malware link. Even if it is from you closest friends or a verified page on Instagram or Twitter, people get hacked.
I totally agree!
I completely agree with you, a lot of things can hurt ... even when you are sure that everything is fine.
Another useful tip to uncover shortened links is to use a link unshortener. With this you can see the original link without clicking it
Great tip!! I wish I had included that in the video, thanks!
Can I recommend a good one
He was born in Venice, Italy in 1254. In 1272, when he was only 17 years old, he travelled to Asia with his father and uncle. The journey was very long. They visited a lot of places and saw wonderful things: eye glasses, ice-cream, spaghetti and the riches of Asia.
Appreciate the "heads-up" on this one. "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure......"
I had no idea this was a thing. Definitely going to be more careful about those kinds of links in the future. Thank you!
Oh it's a thing alright. I see it almost daily. Thanks!

Thank you very much on how to decode the link. Ive been accidentally clicking the same link every time and i found out that it was just an ad link so the person that made that link made money without being involved in any sponsors. Thank you very much. Im realeaved now
Thank you for feeling me about this. Now I will never open unknown links, because they can be dangerous for me.
Really great quality, it’s better than a lot of big youtubers
Thank you! I'll keep working on improving as well, wherever I can. Thanks for watching!
Yes great
The video is simply the best I have seen of its kind, you told what others did not tell! Thank you! I'll send it to my friends, let them take a look!
Aww thanks! That's great, I hope people are able to see what not to do.
Someone that I don't know sent me a bitly link, saying that I won a price.
I just wanted to check what was it.
Thank u so much for the information :)
It's almost certainly a scam, glad you didn't click.

A beautiful and very useful video, it is wonderful, and I will do it as an example for me, because it represents me sometimes and a lot of times has benefited from a lot of these videos. It is beautiful content

Glad it was helpful! Thank you very much for watching. :)
A very useful and explanatory video. People need to know exactly which link and where they are going. This process should be controlled, and not click and you don't know where.
Thank you!!
They taught him very well and I enjoyed his teaching and his teaching was very useful. I learned many things from this teaching that I didn't know before.
Thanks for that :)
Thanks. I almost clicked one. But I remember someone told me that one bitly was a ip grabber, so I decided to watch this. Thanks for the help!
Yeah good point. To me it's just shocking how many people use these links and think they're completely safe and/or okay to use. It just screams unwise.
I clicked on a bit ly link and it brought me to a UA-cam channel am I in danger
@@GNJ-ri4tt No, I don't think so. If it brought you straight-linked there then no.
@@JoshChristiane i clicked on a link, could i be in danger?

Such a presentation of information is especially important for children and the elderly, who like to click on different links several times and can bring any virus into their computer. Important information. Thank you for this informative video
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for your kind comment, I totally agree with you. More kids and elderly especially need to know to watch out.
You are undoubtedly right. A person is inquisitive by nature, and in children and the elderly this quality is more pronounced. Thank you for a very informative video.
Great video, thank you! I have a question, could we make it by uniq data? I mean if someone clicks it several times it will only count as 1. Only someone with different IP address will count in the system
Yes, technically. It's the same for ads, if you click an ad multiple times from the same link it'll count that IP as just one reference, not multiples. Google ads works that way to prevent people from gaming the system and making money from clicking the link over and over again.
Thx I got a message that said to click the link because I won a give away so I came here, this guy saves lives
I hate stuff like that so much, glad you're safe!
That's great ! I have understood your topics clearly. It is helpful for my up coming work. You did not give any link, I am waiting for your next help. Thanks.
Hello, nowadays the Internet is an indispensable helper in the life of every person, I stumbled upon your channel, it surprised me, it turned out to be very interesting. Immediately signed, liked. Honestly, I did not expect that how many useful things can be learned))) Repeatedly went to the links to fraudsters, it's awful ... Thank you for the information! I will recommend your channel to everyone !!!😊
Wow thank you for such a nice comment, I appreciate you taking the time to actually say all of that. I hope you have a lovely day!
interesting and important information. You need to work with different links with great care, and understand what threatens to click on malicious links
Even if it still says 404 when you have the plus sign, does it save you?
Yes. As long as you don't click on the actual link. The + sign protects you. 404 in most cases means it's a broken link that leads nowhere, however in some rare cases it's an actual virus page designed to deceive people into thinking it's just a broken link that did nothing.

I go to the bit ly link from the UA-cam description and I just allow the notification and then I saw that waring message and shows my phone model so I already blocked them, so is it okay now?
Yeah you should be okay now from what it sounds like. The warning message may have been your browser blocking the site from operating. If you want to turn off that sites notifications then you can do so in the settings of your browser. Look for notifications then turn off any of the most recent ones.
good quality, need more viewers tbh so more people see this and you get more subs and you actually make money

I get bitly Linus sent to me all the time, don't think I ever cli keson any but IF I ever have, how long would it takebefore u noticed u have virus or something from clickibg on that link..? Thx, i appreciate this video,!!
You may never notice. I've had viruses on my computer in the past for significant periods of time (months) without ever even noticing. Some are designed to let you know they're there, but most are silent and quiet and their goal is to leech data without you ever knowing. The likelihood of getting infected from a rogue link is relatively low, so likely you are okay. Still, there's always a risk. My advice is to download and run "Hitman Pro" as it does the best job finding those silent viruses. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thanks for the very quick, important information. Very useful.

Thanks you for your wonderfully idris. It is very INPO retention in online market . It is very essay to one sites to others sites. Thanks you.
Hi guys.Good video. The author clearly explained what and how it works.
Glad you liked it, thanks for watching.
I received a text message that said “ don’t forget to make a appointment for cancer prevention.” I was waiting for someone to call me so I can make my appointment. However, when I received the message I thought it was my doctor that sent it and so I clicked a unknown link. I was redirected to a CDC UA-cam video. It was about cancer. I was spooked because it wasn’t about a appointment or really anything surrounding what I thought would pop up. Once I saw This video I did the “+” technique on my browser. It told me it was a UA-cam page and that seems a bit reliable. I don’t know if it was good or bad or if sometime might have happened to my phone like a virus or anything. I am very worried and I will never click on a link unless I know for a fact it is reliable. How would I know if a website is downloading something or has downloaded something already?
Did it take you to UA-cam's real site? If it did, then you're probably okay and it was just advertising spam. However, there is no way to know for sure the route it took to get there. Could be a re-director post-malware or something, that is a real technique sometimes used. The best thing you could do now is download a good quality antivirus for your phone like Malwarebytes or Bitdefender and get that up and running. Even those are not a silver bullet though, the only true way to be safe is to never click to begin with, and reformat your phone when issues like that happen. It's an unfortunate reality, but it's the world we live in today. I hope you're okay and have no issues!
@@JoshChristiane thanks for responding. Yes this take me to UA-cam’s real site , I installed a antivirus I have worked with before on many occasions and is trusted. It show me that the website is in secure but any way I was scared about this.
@@lupizrp.2365 I'm sorry that happened. I hope it was just advertising and no big deal. I'm glad everything appears safe now. Have a great day!

Yes, it's hard to believe in unfamiliar links, people aren't immune to being scammed unless they're 100% sure it's not a malicious link. How to avoid it? on Instagram or Twitter, the pages are hacking. What to do, tell me?
good afternoon! Thank you for the useful information, everything was well explained

So uhm I’m late but pressed on a bitly link and I was still in the UA-cam app so like I wasn’t in my safari but in UA-cam there was a done in the top left corner of my screen and when I pressed on it, it brought me back to UA-cam. It didn’t open up my safari so will it be okay?
Sounds fine to me. If it didn't open your browser and actually connect the web packets then you're good to go. I'm sure you're probably fine.
@@JoshChristiane ok thank you it worried me for a second

Useful video and information. Indeed, now it is dangerous to go to different links, except that a very good antivirus, it is still better not to take risks.

I got DM'd by a small business. They wanted me to promote them by sharing a bitly link. Thankfully you came in to save me, lol.
I've had the exact same thing happen. I told them no unless they change the link, and they refused and insisted I click it.
@@JoshChristiane They sent the original link just a few hours ago, it's a pretty nice website but my gut says that I shouldn't continue the deal.
@@dixr8698 There are LOTS of legit companies using Bitly links, so to be fair to them it doesn't indicate they're scammers. But your gut may be basing that on their attitude, language, the deal itself and other factors. Always trust your gut with stuff like that.
...so should i use bit ly as long as i added the + at the end of the links?
Well even that could be dangerous if you don't know the website it's leading to is totally trustworthy. But assuming you know and trust the site then I'd recommend it. The entire principle of a "hidden" link is insanity, especially in the age of mass hacking and cyberwarfare.
@@JoshChristiane ah good, cause i'm just liking it to my stuff that's all
