I grew up in southern Alberta and now I live in Utah, and I am ashamed to say I completely take the mountains for granted. I never think to appreciate how gorgeous they are until I see someone else who isn't accustomed to it appreciating them. My husband and I are taking our family to Banff in a few weeks. Watching your video has made me excited for it!

It is so lovely that you are able to share these amazing experiences with someone you love. Back here in India, being in relationships before marriage is such a social stigma no matter how old you are. It makes me so sad that pleasures as simple as sharing a home or a vacation with your partner are SO HARD to experience here.

What a great start to Sunday! Mountains are such beautiful things, aren't they? I appreciate all The Hobbit and LOTR references. Maybe the Grizzly Bear was Beorn! Should do a rendition of "Far Over Misty Mountains Cold". And of course we find the bookstores wherever we go! Thanks for another day-brightening episode!

As a Saskatchewanian who sees magpies on a daily basis and who visits Banff yearly it is refreshing to see these things from the perspective of someone experiencing them for the first time. It reminds me to appreciate them more. Thank you. :) Also, "Tisane" is French for "herbal tea." That drink is a tea-based beverage, which is why it is called that. :)

This genuinely makes me so happy.
I am dealing with the remnants of my multiple eating disorders in the past (orthorexia and consequently binge eating disorder). I am trying to repair my relationship with food, lose weight in a healthy way, but it can get tiring and when I get too obsessed with the journey, I want to see something outside of myself. I want to see things that remind me why I exist.
Nature has never once failed to heal me. Such a beautiful gift from God to the inhabitants of this universe. The lofty mountains, the lush and green trees, the serene and beautiful lakes - serve as a reminder that there are things much greater than the obsession with our exterior, our beauty, things that will fade away with time.
Have a good time being one with nature, Emma

Oh my DAYS I absolutely lost it when I read “first time seeing a magpie” - where I live I see them pretty much everyday. Silly but my Ma brought me up to always habitually greet them, “Morning Mr Magpie; how’re your wife and children?” for good luck hehe! They’re just the most wonderful bird to me. So happy for you that you finally got to meet one. Beautiful birds and a beautiful place! 😍

LOL Re the NZ comment - Its called the OE or overseas experience, Every Kiwi from NZ, travels to Canada (same british common wealth) and gets a work visa and works in Banff or Alberta or BC for a season. THat is why its is so easy to get seasonal work visas. After they have done some work, experienced another culture, they do some more traveling - often to USA or Europe before going back home, settling down, getting married and start the family. My sister did her OE in the early 1980s - she met her kiwi spouse on his OE in England. They got married in NZ in 1986. Her daughter (my niece) did her OE back in 2018. She worked at Whistler for 6 months, and then came to visit me in Toronto, before flying back to NZ. The niece is now engaged but not married yet. It is a very cultural thing for young adults from NZ to do. Go see the world after school before getting married, Partly to do with NZ being so isolated. Traveling to Australia does not count as the OE because that is just a 3 hour flight away - not a 24 hour flight. I know this because I am from NZ - but I emigrated to Canada after marrying my Canadian spouse. I have been here for 20+ years now.
WOW some of those mountain views are amazing!!! You did really great with your hiking despite not having climbed any mountains before!!!! Wonderful Vlog!!

It’s so interesting watching people see the mountains for the first time! I don’t go to the mountains as much as some people from Calgary but I usually go at least once per year. I don’t remember seeing them for the first time because I was so little. Both Australia and New Zealand have a strong culture of travel and a lot of young people go on long tours or get working visas for other countries, so that is why it’s common to see Aussie or Kiwi seasonal staff in Banff and other tourist areas in the mountains.

I used to go to Colorado every summer growing up, and the service workers there were almost always from outside the US. I think it’s typical in a lot of other countries for young people to live in North America for the summers in places like the Rockies. Awesome. Congrats on reaching the top. I've been to the top of Mount Reiner in Washington state. Insanely beautiful but the weather at the base of the mountain can be quite nasty. Lmao 🤣 I love bookstores too. So thank you for having two of my favorite things in one video. Mountains and bookstores. The best bookstores I have around me are Goodwill's 🤣

Best part about mountain hiking: You forget to actually appreciate the view because you're so exhausted from the hike up there

Oh Emma, this trip must have been so incredible! The views are awesome, spectacular - no words to describe. Thanks for sharing those moments with us! Also special treat was seeing you imagine yourself in Middle-earth, I had a real laugh when you shouted "Get off the road!" ☺️🥰❤️

I'm a New Zealander; but my parents live in Calgary and I've spent a lot of time in Banff. So strange seeing you walking around the Fairmont - halls I've spent a decent amount of time walking. The world is small! (Also; lots of Kiwis do their gap year working hospo in Banff; Canmore etc! Funny you picked up on that!)
