I am very excited for the 8th collection and the Adidas x fear of god basketball sneakers. I am mainly excited about the sneakers because I never had the opportunity to catch the air fog 1s! And Paul I found your channel because I was looking for fear of god skinny jean alternatives. Thats when I stumbled across your channel!
Appreciate the look at the shock dropped pieces since most of us didn't have access. Proportions are MASSIVE on those, have to be 6'0" to even pull those tops off. Seeing the Cali 2.0 being a $100 more is interesting, guessing a reinforced outsole maybe and drop in sole (in black). People saying it's not much different than FOG 1 ethos means he's consistent in his DNA design, but that doesn't seem to be appreciated at all if someone is true to themselves brand to brand.
I’m glad to be of service 🤝 yes I totally agree. Wish I could rock some of those long coats tho, absolutely beautiful. Hopefully once we get a better look at 8th they’ll have some options for us that will be a little more complimentary.
Love the 8th collection! I’m similarly sized as you and it’s probably some self confidence and delusion that I could pull this off. But I want to! What Jerry is making now it so crisp and clean. It’s like looking at a painting.
It’s truly remarkable to me how much Fear of God has changed in style. Truly a 180 from the first 5 collections. I feel Jerry doesn’t get enough respect for making such a drastic change during such a height of success. Very bold move!
I think that’s a lot of the flack he gets from people. When someone hits that level of success everyone just wants them to keep doing that same thing. People will always say the opposite. But really they want the same thing in a new package.
I love that change! That’s part of the reason why I’m so so on the Adidas shoe. It’s does give a strong fog 1 vibe. But I think it being more mid top is gonna work better for us shorter folks.
Really good thoughts Paul and I"m with you re: 8C. From what I've seen so far on the runway, it's not necessarily for me but as a creative myself, I can appreciate Jerry's design evolution. I'd have to wait to see the other pieces with more prominent / larger logos as statement pieces but for what it's worth, full respect to him for his accomplishments thus far.
As for the Adidas side of things, again, neither love nor hate it, but rather indifferent. As you highlighted my comment in the LWC thread that it's my wild hope that this new Adidas venture might translate to an inflation for the Nike pieces given that collection and Air FOG1s were game changers. Remember the night when you first watched the 6C trailer? The slick 'So Will I' remix, Leto rocking a horse, Jerry's first major step into Americana-styling and then right at the end like a Marvel post credit scene he steps out of his truck and *boom* the Nike silhouette we were all waiting for. That wow-factor and urge to replay the trailer multiple times back in 2017...for me is lacking with this Adidas introduction. But I'll withhold my judgement until I see a complete catalogue.

I really really like the adidas fear of God shoes. Feels like everything Adidas and Ye started and we’re doing right. Like a mix between the YZY Knit Basketball and the Nike Air FOG. Gonna be incredible with joggers

To be honest. I love the California 2.0 a lot. I’m moving away from my Yeezy slides. The californias seems more grown up to me. The collection is great. I love the sneakers. But I know what you all mean. It looks way too similar. But more Y-3 if it makes sense. It gives me more inspiration for my brand. Nonetheless. I think it looks great.

Coming from someone who doesn't have the nike FOG 1 and an Adidas and FOG fan, I'm a fan of the sneakers personally. Going to cop, but imma wait to see how the prices will be. I'm hoping it'll be essentials prices rather than the mainline. What was the prices like for the Nike collab?
$350 retail for the FOG1 and the FOG Raids were a lower price point. I don't think they will retail as high as the 1, I would hope not and if these have a much larger release then we could see lower prices which is a good thing for anyone looking to purchase.

I’m very excited for what adidas and fear of god come out with soon! Hoping stuff like the shirts we saw as merch come in some form into the line. And the new Californias definitely look like I’ll be buying them this time, prolly not those colors though.
They’re like a mix of the Ronnie Fieg tubular dooms and the air fear of god 1, just feels like more of the same tbh

hyping up fear of god quality? dude I've had several issues with essentials purchases. Their fleece sucks. Their polyster/nylon pieces rip. Their leather falls apart. I love the design aesthetic of FoG but I'm terrified to buy their stuff.

I thought Jerry wasn’t with the basketball line anymore, so the shoe would be a lifestyle shoe, not basketball performance.
It's a hybrid shoe kinda like jordan retros
He was suppose to run the regular adidas basketball with Harden, Dame, etc until Jason Mayden left. So he fell back to just FoG athletics.
The point of FoG Athletics is a athleisure/performance arm of Fear of God.
Fear of God = high end fashion
Essentials = Everyday/functional
Athletics = Performance/Athleisure
@@MaddNomad1015 yes so the shoes are not under the Adidas Basketball division but just the FOG X Adidas division. So the shoes are a leisure shoe not a basketball dedicated shoe like Adidas Basketball silhouettes. The Californians at $300 ridiculous.
@@paigewillow8768 I think he wants them to be playable though, that’s the difference between the Athletics line more then say Y3. So kind of like the Yeezy Quantum’s. Nike brought him in cause they wanted a performance sneaker you could wear for fashion like Js back in the day.
Yeah those californias are a no go. Way too expensive for what they are. The regular ones should be an essentials labeled foam shoe for 150 in my opinion.
