After the wait and the delays for this razor, I'm so unexcited for it to arrive. I may just sell it as soon as it gets here and never open it. I got sick of waiting so I bought a Rockwell 6s and absolutely love that razor. I think I'll just buy a vintage fatboy and pay razor emporium $40 to refurbish it and it'll still cost less than the fat guy.
Nobody hated to be late, more than we did. But we did something right, including making sure that it was assembled in Caanada. We are VERY proud of this product. It has gotten wonderful reviews. Would you rather that we took our time and created something superb, or we delivered it earlier. This project was a major investment. But if I had to do it all over again, I would hope not to have the same challenges, but I wouldn't change a thing. For all of those who bemoan the fact that Gillette wouldn't remake their Fatboy I invested tens of thousands of dollars to bring something to the wet shaving community that nobody else would dare undertake. The technical challenges of building this razor were incredible.
An idea Kevy. Do a video of your favourite aftershave/colognes. Doesn't have to be a top ten or a particular order. Also mention some of your favourite notes, we know you like sandalwood for instance. The idea being, for those with similar tastes to you could add new scents to their collection based on your recommendations. Cheers.
Great shave. I only watch American football and basketball nowadays, but I want to congratulate Scotland on beating Serbia to qualify for the Euro Cup. I’m sold on the Fatguy, but I’m more sold on the Fatboy razor for nostalgia and to get the vintage experience. It’s just some kind of feeling I want to get from shaving with a vintage DE razor

Congrats on Euro Cup qualifiers from Belgrade, Serbia. We played like headless chicken for most of the game. Scored a goal in 90. minute out of pure luck, and then realized we have to actually play football to have any chance to win. Had some solid plays in the overtimes, but didn't score. Penalties are always lottery, so the luckier team that evening won. Good luck on the tournament. Good shave, btw :)

As someone else said, Razor Emporium did a review of this razor side by side with an original Gillette 1.95 Adjustable, worth the watch. Hi Kevy. Great comparison. I noticed that there was a significant difference in knurling between the Fatboy and the Fatguy. Can it really be called a replica if there is such an obvious and pretty important variation in design. To me it looks like a good quality imitation. For a few dollars more, you could have a reconditioned original. But it still looks like a beautiful razor.
The knurling is different because the years are different. Kevy's is a 1950's version. Ours is based on a 1960. Same knurling as a 1960. Good eye though!

It’s nice to pay homage to such a iconic piece of wet shaving history. But I adore my G2 1961 Fatboy, the history and the story it could tell is fascinating. The NightWitch is one of my favourites pairing it with some classic Old Spice is the perfect combo.
We plated our Fatguy with chrome so it could be easily differentiated from the real thing. I was worried about it being resold on eBay as the real thing and that made my blood run cold. I also have an attachment to my Fatboy. I understand. But for those thousands of people who would like to own just about the same razor new, and to remake a legend, that was our goal. Red tip is next.

I've been looking for a 1959 fatboy for over a year and had no luck find one, well not one worth buying, they are nearly always in the states and asking stupid money. So the replica is a reasonable compromise in my opinion. Having said all of the I'm still waiting on my delivery- 8 months andcounting!

I have two problems with Matt using a loaner: 1) That particular razor has now been shipped multiple times, and we all know the damage that can occur in shipping. Ken didn't seem to have any problems with that same razor, and 2) I would've expected Matt to purchase a new razor with his own money. He is arguably the foremost technician in regards to TTO safety razors - his reviews carry some weight. Him having absolutely nothing invested negates his credibility both pro and con imho. Matt also stated to me that the Fatguy is no competition to him whatsoever - then why not just purchase his own? Matt did not impress me with his used Fatguy review.
I watched the football game, the Scottish announcer went nuts. If you don't film in the room with the clock, maybe the demon noises will go away. All I could hear were the whiskers getting cut. Just something about original , knock offs just don't do it for me My 1958 has a history and that is so cool for me I paid $35.00 for it and then had it Replated in original nickel so I have under $100.00 and it looks and functions like New . Just used it yesterday for Fatboy Friday tomorrow's Sunday shave I always use my 1958 Toggle , it's not the same as the Fatboy , it's Better😍 Happy shaves Kevy (Lather King ) 👑
You cannot beat the real thing in terms of its sense of history and antiquity. However most people who want the real thing in perfect condition do not want to fuss with replating and revamping someone else's old Fatboy. They will likely purchase a complete revamp at $200 to $300 USD. Our razor is targeted to those people. For everyone who said "why doesn't someone remake the Fatboy, well we have! Know what? It is a darn fine razor.

Kevy compadre !!! An excellent shave, and at the same time very peculiar the soap in particular of the Blair witch (LOL 😂) the essence must be exquisite, the safety razor is very good that more than one copy I would call it a tribute to the Gillette Fatboy 58 , I think both very soft.
You just confirmed Kevy what I thought I could detect all along. Namely, that the "U.S." OldSpice (actually it is Canadian, look it up on the bottle) smells slightly different from (or as you rightly say sweeter than) the OldSpice we get here in the UK. Yes, I think I like even more the Canadian OldSpice. I know the bottle from there is plastic, but it is somehow "better" than what we have. Any ways. Haven't been this happy since Archie Gemmil 🤣 (always remember that scene from Trainspotting!) Keep meaning to buy a Phoenix and Beau soap, the one with the Queen on looks decent. Still not sure on these type of razors, I'd be a nightmare with the settings! Simpler the better for me being Dyspraxic.
@@richardpoole5928 if you keep everything locked in place and then adjust it, there can be more tension on the adjustment mechanism. Having said that, theyre are others who say it doesn't matter if you adjust with it unlocked or not. That's a good point and the only thing missing imo. When paying a tribute, presentation means everything towards the first impression. Regardless, I'm enjoying my new Fat Guy. The mechanism is smooth, precise and secure. Fit and finish is superb and the shaves are equalled only by the original.
Seems a pity to pay such an inflated price for basically a copy/clone. Originals are to be had for much less, and in good condition. Also seems they are already having problems shifting them, they are in a sale now. Supply and /or quality issues? For the kind of money being asked I'd rather invest in a Karve or Game Changer. Just my opinion you understand .

The Fat guy looks cheap to me... Maybe my feel is influenced by my original fatboy replated... I generally don't like remake of vintage stuff... It is loosing the history and cool side of a truly vintage razor.
“ If you are looking to pick up a fat guy” 😖 phrasing 🤣 I have incorporated using an alum block into my daily shave. I apply the block, let it sit a few seconds and then wash it off with an application of witch hazel.
It's 2020, and should be called "The Gravitationally-challenged Boy". There, that's better. 🙃 Actually, there's many Fatboys that can be found on eBay that are within $100 in great condition, that endure the test of time, worthy of owning, if perhaps not all gleaming in appearance. But I like to see such efforts to replicate a classic. Make one stainless, and I think that would make it very special and unique.
A stainless version that is rhodium plated is in development. Somebody had to remake this classic. We improved it by using better alloys, aside from that its a part for part replication.
I have nothing against that replica. I just think with so many of the Originals floating around in good to excellent shape; what is the point to buying the copy? I am only speaking for myself. I would not dare to speak on the behalf of anyone else. ;-)

There should not be any import taxes on this British soap into Denmark, so long as it is imported into Denmark before 1 Jan 2021. Exports/imports among E.U. countries incur no such taxes.
Too bad they had to chrome plate the new razor instead of an actual nickel finish. The chrome looks so Cheap. Nice brush! Honest Review. A REAL Fatboy can still be had cheaper.
I have unsubscribed from kenvy as all is reviews are positive and the fat guy razor I got from Global shave International is terrible quality. The doors are misaligned and they fall off. So terrible and I'll never watch him again
I had a spectacular shave this a.m with my Fatguy on setting 1 with a new Feather blade and Williams Mug Soap. Bbs, no events and no irritation.

Love my new Fatguy razor. I use it in rotation to give my Fatboy and Slims a break. Couldn'tt be happier with my new Fatguy, worth every penny imho.

Are you supposed to open the doors on the razor before changing the setting then ?

@@richardpoole5928 if you keep everything locked in place and then adjust it, there can be more tension on the adjustment mechanism. Having said that, theyre are others who say it doesn't matter if you adjust with it unlocked or not. I just prefer to do it that way and as i always say...there's no right or wrong way, just do what works for you. Cheers. Kevy 👍

Today I bought in London a Gillette King C saftey razor at the Boots store for £ 13,33, and a Wilkinson Sword "CUT THROAT" razor for £14,30 !

It's a shame the packaging of the Fat guy is just a cardboard box as the Fat boy razor came in a nice plastic box with a hinged lid.

That's a good point and the only thing missing imo. When paying a tribute, presentation means everything towards the first impression. Regardless, I'm enjoying my new Fat Guy. The mechanism is smooth, precise and secure. Fit and finish is superb and the shaves are equalled only by the original.
Pretty sure I don't spend enough time lathering up and getting enough water into my lather, always learning.
Seems a pity to pay such an inflated price for basically a copy/clone. Originals are to be had for much less, and in good condition. Also seems they are already having problems shifting them, they are in a sale now. Supply and /or quality issues?
For the kind of money being asked I'd rather invest in a Karve or Game Changer. Just my opinion you understand .

The Fat guy looks cheap to me... Maybe my feel is influenced by my original fatboy replated... I generally don't like remake of vintage stuff... It is loosing the history and cool side of a truly vintage razor.
“ If you are looking to pick up a fat guy” 😖 phrasing 🤣 I have incorporated using an alum block into my daily shave. I apply the block, let it sit a few seconds and then wash it off with an application of witch hazel.

Actually, there's many Fatboys that can be found on eBay that are within $100 in great condition, that endure the test of time, worthy of owning, if perhaps not all gleaming in appearance.
But I like to see such efforts to replicate a classic. Make one stainless, and I think that would make it very special and unique.
A stainless version that is rhodium plated is in development. Somebody had to remake this classic. We improved it by using better alloys, aside from that its a part for part replication.
I have nothing against that replica. I just think with so many of the Originals floating around in good to excellent shape; what is the point to buying the copy? I am only speaking for myself. I would not dare to speak on the behalf of anyone else. ;-)

typical when a soap smells like the original old Spice its an import to Denmark with insane shipping and tax added
There should not be any import taxes on this British soap into Denmark, so long as it is imported into Denmark before 1 Jan 2021. Exports/imports among E.U. countries incur no such taxes.
Too bad they had to chrome plate the new razor instead of an actual nickel finish. The chrome looks so Cheap. Nice brush! Honest Review. A REAL Fatboy can still be had cheaper.

I own and enjoy the Fatguy but I would NEVER do business with Sheldon at Global Shave Club again, very deceptive company and I'm out money.
I've read some stories from guys that have had some troubled dealings with them too. Kevy 🙂
I have unsubscribed from kenvy as all is reviews are positive and the fat guy razor I got from Global shave International is terrible quality. The doors are misaligned and they fall off. So terrible and I'll never watch him again
