magaling mag tagalog and how he eats with his hands, Pinoy na Pinoy ang dating niya , ho whenembraced our culture and way of life, and not even picky of food
You guys are awesome! I enjoy watching you. I’m a Filipina born in Manila, grew up in Quezon City now living in Florida with my wonderful American husband of 20 years. He eats some regular Filipino food like lumpia, sinigang, pansit, adobo chicken and pork and adobong sitaw, Filipino bbque, kare kare minus the bagoong, kalderetang baka, menudo, igado (I just have to cut the liver very tiny and I have to put just a little on his plate - none if possible) because he doesn’t like liver at all and I like tiny pieces also just for my anemia. I’m glad though that if he happens to notice it he will just go ahead and eat it without critizing it. I just like a little bit of liver (sometimes even in pork adobo) but a very tiny pieces so it isn’t overwhelming or it will not overpower the rest of the ingredients, I also feed him pinakbet but just a bit of barrio fiesta bagoong that he won’t notice as well and tinola (he doesn’t like ginger at first but he got use to it although I slice ginger really big including in arroz caldo or pospas so he can easily see it and take it off).- he’s fine now with the ginger flavor in a soup but he still couldn’t directly eat it. It will not go to waste because I eat them anyway. He doesn’t like exotic food like dinuguan, bagoong, patis, tofu, ampalaya, balut (I don’t blame him, I never eat balut until now as well which I got it from my mom, all my sibling and my dad use to eat that). Those are the food that I never liked when I was a kid thats why I never force him to eat them. Dinuguan and ampalaya are my favorite now other than pansit, sinigang na baboy, nilaga beef, adobong sitaw. I like igado only if is made out of pork meat and a little bit of liver with chic peas and sliced potatoes of course with bell pepper as well and siling labuyo. My husband never like spicy food but he already got use to it because I always make my sinigang, nilaga and tinola spicy including my american spaghetti. We both do not like Filipino spaghetti because that wasn’t the recipe I grew up with and so as he of course. He loved my spaghetti recipe. There was one time I bought Jollibee spaghetti to try it out and he said he’s like eating a dessert. I told him that Filipino invented that recipe for the Filipino kids that are picky eaters or very difficult to feed. Kids like to eat sweets rather than sour or salty food. Anyway, I love watching your videos because I can relate except my husband has a very small family. They are very typical American that are prim and proper like you both (not me though), old fashioned (not me again . . . oh well just a little) and conservative (I am, to some extent). I wish my husband can learn how to cook Filipino food and plant veggies like kuya Jake. My husband is an IT and that’s what he does for a living and he just like to spend time in electronics. He likes kayaking with a friend once in a while when the weather is good, he likes to watch football and eating out once or twice a week (not much anymore during and after the pandemic). Love your reminiscing episodes, cooking and eating Filipino meal. Great job and good luck on your channel! Sana maka 500k na and then 1M soon! God bless!
Hi Jake and Jess. Ako ay parang si Jess. Asawa ko Amerikana pero ako ay pinanganak sa Pinas. Ang galing talaga ng salita ni Jake. I think he has the most native sounding foreign born Tagalog speaker I've heard. I watch many polyglots on UA-cam. Mas impressed ako kay Jake. Sayang hndi ako nag Tagalog sa asawa at mga anak, pero ang unang apo ko ay tinatagalog ko. Stay blessed. You two are inspiring and a delight to watch. Kindness, humor and love won with you two.
Lahat ng kilala kong relatives and friends sa abroad hindi nila kinausap sa Tagalog or dialect mga anak nila. Katwiran nila hindi gagamitin. Speak it at home. Credit to Jess kasi istrikto sya kay Jake na hindi mag I English sa bahay nila. Ganon lang yun. Talk to your kids in your dialect whatever it is and tell them to answer the same way, not in English even if they can understand your native dialect. Kung naririnig kayong mag asawa na nag uusap in their native tongue, they will learn. Pareho namang Pilipino. Excuse nung mga foreigner ang asawa mahirap daw magtagalog kasi di maintindihan. E bakit si Jake Amerikano pero ang fluent sa Tagalog at Ilokano. Praktisado sa misis nya.
